rates for deluxe resorts

Looking for some guidance from experienced DVCers.

What are the rates for deluxe resorts or DVC? Looking to stay at Wilderness Lodge first week of December. Do DVC member get discounts for resort or is that just for the villas? What rates have you experienced for either?

I was only disney site on Saturday package rate w/airfare went up $200 in two days, but no real changes on Expedia. How so?

DVC members do not get cash discounts for non-DVC resorts.

DVC members can use points to stay at selected non-DVC WDW resorts. They cannot use points if their is an associated DVC resort. For example, DVC members cannot use points at the WL (because their is a VWL).

Subject to availability, DVC members can book DVC resorts for cash through MS. Sometimes, they can get a 25% discount (off rack rate) when they book cash nights through MS.

Not sure about the Expedia thing. I know that Expedia tends to buy "in bulk" for some things, so it's possible that they did not experience the same airline price increase that Disney did. Or perhaps the discounted space was all booked so Disney is selling the rest at rack. Expedia gets stuck (pays for) any inventory they don't sell in some cases. I also know (from personal experience) that Expedia/Travelocity/Orbitz deals don't always go through. Sometimes you don't find out that they sold out for something until you actually try to buy. Then they tell you "sorry".

i would add that if you are asking about renting at VWL (or any DVC resort) for december, you are out of luck.

if you see something available at CRO, that's probably your best option...but i don't know what cash rates are (i pay for things with points nowadays... )

This is very true! Three months ago my friend needed a airline ticket that Expedia was showing as one price for two days. When he went to purchase it, the purchase would not go through, he ended up having to change the arrival date, which meant his wife had to stay in Florida longer. He said," It took him all afternoon to buy that ticket!" He was very frustrated. Her mother had died, she had flown Brazil to Miami , was trying to get to Charleston. Expedia was just handling the Miami to Charleston portion of the ticket.
