Florida, California, France, Tokyo, and Honk Kong:
They all have their differences, but the same concept and the same name. Which Space Mountain is the best of them all?

It is hard for some people to say because it is rare to know someone who has done them all.

I've only done the one in Florida, so I can't say.

I do like that the one in California has side-by-side seating (at least it used to, right?) We were just at MK last weekend, and my friend would not let her eight year old ride Space Mountain, because of the single file seating. She said, if the worst happened, she would not be able to throw her body over her daughter! :confused3 :rotfl:

We've only visited the ones at the Magic Kingdoms in CA and FL, but when we got in line for the one at Disneyland, which had been recently renovated, we didn't know what to expect.
I had heard that they added a soundtrack and made the ride smoother, but wasn't sure what the results would be.
When we got off, all 5 of us looked at each other and said, "Wow! That was awesome - Our (Disney World's) Space Mountain stinks compared to that!"
The addition of the soundtrack was great and the ride is so much smoother than the one at WDW.
We have the CD and listen to the music all the time!
Every time we ride the one in Orlando, we wish that they would renovate it ... It's so bumpy and changing the ride vehicles to accomodate the sound system would add so much.
Still holding out hope!
Maybe we'll get to visit the other versions as the kids get older.
... It's still a classic and I get goosebumps when we get that first glimpse of the mountain on every trip.

I'll be able to say for sure in September ... but from what I can remember: Paris, California, Tokyo, Florida. I will go to HKDL in August.

I like CA better than FL...there were actually a few rides in CA that i thought were better than the FL one's.... small world was one.

I've only done DL and WDW, but DL's Space Mountain is much, much better.

I find that true of the attractions shared by both parks.

I do enjoy the one in CA much better, but recently in spring they temporarily changed the music to a red hot chili peppers song, which I do love...but you could see the track the entire time, and it didn't seem as good as before.

p.s. I think pirates is much better in DL, and Splash Mount. is better in WDW!

That is true of several shared attractions, but certainly not all.
WDW has better Buzz Lightyear, Big Thunder Mountain, probably Splash Mountain (it was down at DL when I was there), and possibly Peter Pan. (When I rode Pan at Disneyland, it was too dark! I could hardly see anything. Maybe they had lighting issues that day.)

I'm not sure how I feel about the Space Mountains. The one at Disneyland is smoother and gentler, and as a result the thrill factor is considerably diminished. I think it just depends on what you prefer. If you're looking for a thrill, I think the WDW version is better.

I can't say as I've only done WDW...but I get to do DL summer 2008.

I've been only to WDW. So of Alpha and Omega, Alpha is my perferred side.
In other words, Left side.

Agree with that...and it used to always be a shorter line too. Now with the fastpass, not so much, but I still usually head that way.

I've only been to 3 of the 5 - haven't made it to Asia yet - but I don't know that I can choose. DLP is exhilarating and breathtaking, although I liked the first version that paid homage to Jules Verne, instead of the odd meshing of styles that's going on now. WDW is my standard ride, and I love it a whole lot, even if it is bumpy and dark. I have only riden DL once, because the first times we were in DL I was still getting very motion sick and my parents didn't let me on any of the rougher rides. I went last summer with my sister and saw the Chili Peppers version, which was alright but not great. So, from my experience, I guess I'd have to go WDW, Paris, DL.

Haven't been to HK yet.

You just described my experience! I was in DL right before the 50th anniversary celebration, and Space Mountain had been down for over a year. They were doing soft openings, and I got to ride. Had to wait in line over an hour (which I never do), but man, was it worth it! Very seldom will I yell following a ride, but I let out a loud "WHOOO HOOO" when we pulled back into the loading area. Awesome ride, much better than the one at MK, and I hope they will soon redo it (but not until after Feb. '08 . . . I'm going 2x in the first 2 months of next year! )
