Rate my lunch

luv- you have really outdone yourself today (and made me hungry for soup, cheese and crackers). And two desserts? Wow.

Presentation was lovely, and the fall accessories complement the chilly day and warm soup.

Overall: 10!

You get bonus points for two desserts, with whipped cream! +1. You also get bonus points for the extra pictures - just lovely +1.

-.5 for no bendy straw, -.5 for only two of the three napkins matching.

Is that plastic silverware? -1 point

Your score today is a 10.

Denae

I thought the bendy straw would detract from the overall elegance of the display, and that is NOT plastic silverware. The two napkins are dessert napkins, so they have to match. I thought the other napkin looked better on the brownish-orange placemat. However, I'm going to let your comments slide because you DID give me a 10. :teeth: :woohoo:

Well, that certainly is impressive, Luv... but did you all realize that Pop Daddy's bologna and cheese sandwich had Mickey Mouse ears drawn in mayo??? :confused3 :teeth:

Luv, you are off the charts with this presentation :thumbsup2 You are missing the bendy straw though

I'd have to say that today's lunch qualifies as a production/presentation. I've tried to successfully combine the food presentation with other aspects, (mood, season, setting), to further enhance today's lunch. Here we go:

A chilly, but beautiful, October afternoon in Maine.

A buttercream scented tart burning in a festive, holiday Yankee Candle tart burner.

I Love Lucy's infamous Vitameatavegamin episode on the tv in the kitchen, where lunch will be served. Cleverly simple, yet maintaining an air of grace.

Here I have a cup of hot Minestrone soup, accompanied by flaky crescent rolls just out of the oven. The small, green bowl holds applesauce, and to the left is an appetizing display of cheese and peanut butter on crackers, (pleasing to look at in their alternating pattern). I know I've had cheese/peanut butter crackers in my photos before, but they're healthy and tasty. What can I say.

oh, but feast your eyes on dessert! This afternoon, there is not one, but two desserts! :cheer2: Warm gingerbread with whipped cream and strawberry Jello with whipped cream. Notice I said "and" not "or" because of course I plan on eating both. :teeth:

And no meal is complete without my trusty sidekick, Henry. Here he patiently waits for his dessert.

So, who wants to go next, or did I just set the bar unreasonably high? :rotfl2:

Come on, I expect some competition here. I also expect a decent score. :lmao:

You get a 10 for setting the mood :teeth: . The soup looks delicious but I think the rolls and crackers are overkill. I'd ditch the crackers - what did you do buy the mega size box at Costco :confused3 :rotfl2: ? Now, scrape the whipped cream off that gingerbread and it's mine :teeth: . Jello though isn't a dessert it's a sick day staple :sad2: . Finally I don't see any evidence of a bendy straw. The opening pictures gave you a real boost so I'll give you a 9.5 :thumbsup2 .

A guess I'll have to start adding a picture of our fat goldfish. She's about ready for a little tarter sauce and a nice bun ;) :lmao: .

Holy crap luv, I think love you. :lovestruc You have set the bar so high that I hope others don't just throw in the towel and give up. :teeth:

Here's your freakin' bendy straw! You people are relentless! :lmao:

Well, Luv, hold on to your seat, because it's going to be an exciting ride. Where to begin....

First, I will say that I could almost smell the fall leaves from your "teaser" pictures. Then, I was welcomed by the sumptious smell of the buttercream tart. One of my all time Yankee favorites. You are batting 10 for 10 so far.

HOWEVER, I am dismayed to see the crackers AND the rolls. Please chose one. Also, I am a big fan of desserts, but you are really doing the gingerbread an injustice by paring it alongside of the jello. The soup looks warming for such a cool fall day. And I do love the motif that you have going on.

Finally, you know how "I" feel about the inclusion of Henry in your Rate My Lunch pictorials. Finally, Henry has been brought to the forefront to star along with your lunch. He also appears to have a tantalizing snack for himself. Well done my friend.

Overall all.....you get a 10 plus.

Just imagine me as Ralphie's teacher in "A Christmas Story" writing A plus all along the Rate My Lunch chalkboard.

Now go get some rest so you have energy for tomorrow. I would hate for you to hit a plateau with your presentations. The editoral was also good this time! You were painting a picture with your words alone.... :artist:

here is an all Amercian Midwestern meal for a working guy, vegtable beef soup, crakekers, and you cant see it well bt a bologna and chesse sandwich on a bun. Also a jar of peperchinnis, and some popcorn with some extra butter to put on it for the road when i ge back to work (only 30 min) and water and 7 up. Also have a milk bone in case my dog starts lookin at me :)

Are we having space issues? I think you could have spread things out a little more. I like the roll of paper towels, though. Very resourceful. :)
Actually the food sounds good, and I like the fact that you're including your dog for lunch. I'm giving you a 7. :thumbsup2

Luv, brava!

The scene before the meal makes me miss the crisp fall days and having a soup meal to warm up. 10 points.

You can keep the beans in the minestrone, so 9.0. Perhaps we can give Henry those beans. No wait a minute, household animal consuming beans means you'll need a YC tart the size of Toledo to mask the smell.

I don't need no stinkin bendy straw, so no deduction there. Ice, however, makes my jaw hurt. 9.0

Two desserts, mighty enjoyable. I'll take the jello, you can keep the gingerbread. IMO, it's better as a crispy cookie (fresh, of course). 9.5.

Crescent rolls, especially hot from the oven with some butter are the perfect accompaniment to the soup. 10. 1 point deduction for the cracker overkill. Besides, the cheese and PB are getting a little old, how about pbj cracker sandwiches?

Overall, 9.25.

Sorry my lunch posting is :
a) really late
and
b) really lame
but it's all I've got today. I met DD for lunch today at a national chain restaurant (it probably won't be too hard to guess from the photo which one it is, considering the name is clearly visible :rotfl: ). I took my camera with me on purpose, but forgot about the photo till halfway through eating. I took the photo anyway. The place was extrememly crowded, so the million and a half people within spitting distance of us all got a kick out of me taking the photo.

DSC02437.jpg

I had a Bistro Steak Salad. It has gorgonzola cheese, walnuts, and a balsamic vinagrette. My beverage is English Breakfast tea. I added my Mickey keychain for a decorative item, and you can catch a glimpse of DD's lip gloss and cell phone, too.

Go ahead - rip my lunch to shreds, I mean, rate my lunch.

I knew from the bag of chips where you ate :rotfl: . Great place so for your good taste alone I'll give you a 6 :teeth: . I would have rated you higher but I don't see any dessert and there really isn't any excuse :sad2: :rotfl2: .

LiteBrite, since I encouraged you to post your half-eaten lunch, I must comment. :teeth: I give anyone a 10 for having the nerve to take out their camera in public and take a picture of their lunch, esp since the restaurant was crowded (and I know how crowded that place gets).

As soon as my computer gets itself moving I will post lunch AND dinner. And they were both Delish. :thumbsup2
