Rate AK rides for me

Below are the names of AK rides for which I have no written evaluations from guide books. Please give me any feedback you have regarding how enjoyable they are, worth the wait, "scare factor," etc. My children will be ages 11, 10, 8, 7 while at WDW. Only one (the oldest) is a thrill-rider. The others shy away from wild rides.

Dino-Rama is the name for the "midway" like area that the Primeval Whirl and the Tricerotops Spin are in.

The Tricerotops Spin is like Dumbo or Alladin. You sit in a dinosuar and ride around a circle. You can control the height and pitch of the dinosaur.

Primeval Whirl is a "wild mouse" style roller coaster that has modified ride vehicles that begin to spin at a certain point in the ride. I don't believe this would be regarded as a "wild" wide at all. It is a great attraction for all ages. You can't help but giggle.

Hi there
the only one I've been on is Primeval Whirl - when I was there which was end of june '02 the general wait in standby line was 40mins or so. I picked up a fastpass as I wanted to go for a walk about with my parent's and when I came back I would say I got on within 5minutes tho.
I enjoyed it although I found it a lil short..but then again I'm 15 and last year was the first time I did all rollercoasters etc so that's probably why it seemed tame to me. In other words probably be great for your children! I think the fastpass was good as IF my memory serves me correctly, there wasn't really much to look at in the queue except the ride itself and others surrounding. So I don't know how good younger children would be waiting.
When the car spins around at the top its good fun and I remember everyone in my car laughing as we went down a big dip and back up again..plus it wasn't so steep that young children might panic.

It's quite hard for me to explain as I now enjoy the thrill rides and don't know any younger children that have been on these rides. So hopefully someone will jump in and help u out properly now LOL

If you do, this is a dark ride. You travel "back in time" via cars on a track that jerk and move. They do not go fast like a roller coaster, but there are some abrupt movements. Some kids may be frightened of the large, fierce looking dinosaurs that pop up during the ride.

Triceratops Spin is similar to Dumbo. No real fear factor involved. Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Primeval Whirl. For true coaster enthusiasts, this is somewhat of a snooze. The coaster itself is cute, the spins are fun, but it is awfully short. You must be 48" to even ride this ride, which is a shame, because it really isn't all that intimidating.

Triceratops spin is pretty boring... same as Aladdin or Dumbo or Astro Orbiter, but with much less interesting scenery to look at.

Primeval Whirl is pretty tame, but quite short. It is a bit jarring at times, but nothing unreasonable.

Dino Rama refers to the area of Animal Kingdom that was added to the existing Dinosaur area. The new rides are the Primeval Whirl and the Triceratops Spin. The area is themed really off the wall, it almost reminded me of Suess Landing at Islands of Adventure but toned down a bit.

As for Triceratops Spin, like others have said it is the standard Disney Dumbo ride. Nothing too exciting here. If the kids can do them at MK, they can do them here too.

Primeval Whirl is a twin Reverchon spinning wild mouse coaster. They built two of them because one would have not created enough capacity and would have caused long, slow moving lines. The two coasters are exactly identical except for the fact that they face in different directions. I definately recommend going to the right when the line splits as the ride basically overlooks the main midway and you can interact with the crowd while waiting to get pulled up the lift.

The ride itself has been Disney-fied over what Reverchon normally delivers to other parks. Theming aside, the spinning is not the intense, tilt-a-whirl type spinning found on rides like the Exterminator at Kennywood. Also the spinning doesnt even start until the middle of the ride. Many Reverchon mice start spinning once the ride drops off the lift or shortly thereafter.

As a coaster enthusiast I was very disappointed with the ride, however, I think that the ride is suited perfectly to Disney's target audience and was a great addition to the Animal Kingdom park. Perfect for kids and adults alike, this ride is a great one to share with family.
