If you hope to be at the front of the pack at the IG, you should be queued up an hour prior to early opening. If you saunter over half an hour before, in our experience, you will be deep into the pack with the Skyliner folks.

None intended, but clearly you are judging my vocabulary choice. Do you have a more appropriate word for leisurely arriving before rope drop? If so, please feel free to insert it as you read.

Never ceases to amaze me how folks on the DIS these days tend to nitpick everything. I have been here since the beginning and the general attitudes/criticisms have certainly changed since those early days.

We arrived at IG the other weekend around 8:55 am with a 9:30 ETPE start time. Very quiet walk so we didn’t feel rushed to get in line. Was held in the queue for about 5-10 minutes before they started letting people into the show building. Was basically a walk-on. Probably could have ridden again, but wanted coffee. As we walked through WD to Starbucks next to the Canada pavilion there was a stampede heading toward Remy. Very glad to not be in that group!

Staying at a boardwalk resort has a lot of benefit with Remy right there. $36 saved and it was probably the most relaxing rope drop I’ve ever experienced.

You beat the Skyliner crew! I suppose it also depends on the time of year you are visiting.

Agreed that the IG is a better way to rope drop for Ratatouille, but since the opening of the Skyliner (when we have visited--May & October for the last 11 years), that rope drop (pre-Ratatouille being on the ETPE list) has realized crowds that stretch from the Joffrey's cart between Canada and UK all the way over the IG bridge, out the gate and up the hill toward the Boardwalk bridge.

In the days pre-Skyliner, it was a really quiet and easy entry. Not so much now AND we have people who Uber/Bus to DHS or surrounding resorts who have been making their way to IG in hopes of getting to Ratatouille before the front of the park herd. While I really hate standing around and waiting an hour before the "official" ETPE opening time, I would much rather do that than be on the Boardwalk bridge with the thundering masses ahead of me and folks pouring off the Skyliner.

Again, I also realize it depends on the crowds when you visit and YMMV.

I really miss the pre-Skyliner days at IG...it was like the best kept secret at Epcot coming in for rope drop and leaving after fireworks that way. Now it's a zoo. I plan on a night at the Dolphin before a weekend at CR and am not looking forward to it, even before Remy opened it was awful on my YC stay last summer trying to rope drop from IG. I honestly prefer coming in the front now.

There are CMs with signs and others directing folks to the appropriate areas to queue for resort and non-resort guests.

Not to detour the thread, but how quickly are the LLs for Remy's disappearing? We're staying at AoA in late March. Getting to the IG more than 30 mins before ETPE does not sound like fun to me. I'd almost rather just pay the LL, "saunter" up to the IG and take a more leisurely approach to the morning, riding Remy's whenever our LL was for.

We did wait a while for the park to open and for them to let us in, but it did guarantee no wait for the ride itself! How early did you get to the IG?

If I'm remembering correctly, we got there around 7:30. I think we got the Skyliner around 7:20 and it's about a 10 minute ride. We were among the first few people admitted into the park.

We were meeting up with offsite family and wanted to all do Remy together, so we opted to hoof it from the IG (skyliner entry) to Test Track for early entry - the crush of people coming from the front to the world showcase for Frozen/Remy was wild lol. We then got in line for Remy around 1:30, 45 minutes into the posted 90 minute wait time the ride went down. We decided to wait it out because it was the only time in our day for a long wait...and an hour later it came back up! Then they of course prioritized the Lightning Lane so much we ended up waiting a total of 2.5 hours (and this was after a LOT of people ahead of us left the line while it was down). It was a VERY cute ride but definitely wont wait that long for it everrrrr again
