Rare Characters You've met!

We've met Evil Queen, Gepetto, Pinocchio, and Genie at Character Palooza. Those are probably rare to non-KtP subscribers.

Maybe not rare at the time, but I have pictures with Prince John (from Robin Hood) and the Tweedles from when I was younger.

My sister and I met Genie during the Princess Half Marathon weekend in 2016. He was on the Boardwalk during the final stretch of the 10k and the only character we felt the need to stop for during the race. I am so glad we had them take a picture with my cell phone just in case, as ours was a part of a batch of runners' Genie photos that were no good.

Later in that trip, we ran into Bolt in Hollywood Studios, and my then 5 year old was elated! Bolt was his favorite Disney movie at the time, and this was a life sized version of the stuffed animal he brought with him on our trip. :)

During this year's visit in February, we bumped into the Queen of Hearts after riding the teacups.

It was 1996, I was 6, and it was my first trip to Disney. I was OBSESSED with Pocahontas and being part Native American, thought I looked like her. There was a Pocahontas Character breakfast at Wilderness Lodge (I think), and I was wearing this matching shirt and short set with Pocahontas characters all over it (yes, all over the shorts too- it was the 90s) and had a blue Pocahontas hat with a fake black braid. I met Pocahontas and was slightly disappointed that she neither looked or sounded like the cartoon character I loved so much. John Smith was standing a few feet away from her and as I approached him, he got a shocked expression on his face, looked from me to Pocahontas and said, "Pocahontas, my dear, I think I've found another love!" He then dropped to a knee, grabbed my hand and kissed it.:cloud9: Pure Disney magic. Absolutely my favorite memory from childhood.

I also met Governor Ratcliffe and Meeko at that breakfast. I met Br'er Bear, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Rabbit that trip as well and having never seen Song of the South and at that point not yet riding Splash had no idea who they were and was a little frightened of them.

I've also met Gepetto, Jafar (great meet), Cruella (another great meet), Clarabelle Cow, Wendy, Abu, Genie, Queen Grimhilde, Queen of Hearts (not the face one), Bullseye, and Jessie, though I'm not sure how rare all of them are. If there were other now rare characters in 1996, I probably met them too and can't remember them as I'm pretty sure I met everyone available because that trip I HAD to get everyone's autograph.

I am somewhat new to the character game. Most of my WDW visits were between 2006-2012 as a local passholder and I wasn't super into characters. (We never ate a single character meal during those years!) However, my 4-year-old DD absolutely loves characters and is starting to get into finding rare characters.

She met the Genie with Jasmine at HS in 2016, which seems somewhat rare. We also met Perla (a mouse from Cinderella) at the Plaza Inn at Disneyland this year. Although neither Alice nor the Mad Hatter are rare, my daughter getting to play musical chairs with them at Coke Corner was probably a rare (read: once-in-a-lifetime) experience! Finally, we lucked out and met Fawn at Pixie Hollow at Disneyland this year. I think the regular friend of Tink was maybe sick that day as it was Fawn greeting instead. The line was super short because everybody else had wanted to see Tink, but DD was excited to meet a different fairy! My understanding is that most of Tink's fairy friends don't meet in Pixie Hollow anymore, so that was rare.

My favorite now-rare character meet was Marie after the Princess Half Marathon in 2010. I'm glad I got to see her before she left Epcot and then MK!

Not rare then, but when Atlantis came out, my daughter was obsessed with Princess Kida and got to meet her at one of the parks (I forget which). One of my favorite memories was seeing how excited she was, and because it wasn't crowded Kida spent extra time with her. My daughter had a doll and the crystal necklace and everything. One of Disney's most underrated movies, in my opinion.

I haven't met anyone that was rare at the time, but have met plenty who no longer meet and would be considered rare if they were out today. Examples: Quasimodo and Esmerelda, Remy, Terk, Pinocchio, Gepetto and so on. You never know who will stick around long term and who won't.

Meeting Quasi is my DREAM! Actually, meeting anyone from Hunchback...that movie is criminally underrated

We met Max Goof at DHS a three or four years ago. We met Suzy and Perla at the entrance the New Fantastyland two years ago.

At the Christmas party we met The Dwarfs, Scrooge McDuck and Bert (with Mary Poppins).

For me, the Rarest, I guess, was Bernard & Miss Bianca (1979/80 - DL), King John, Oswald (2016- CA), Max, Pinocchio, and the Yellow Ranger.

Does runDisney count? To name a few, Megra, Oswald, Sebastian, Cogsworth, Oogie Boogie, Shanzi Banzi and Ed, Darkwing Duck, Launchpad McQuack, Chip and Dale (Rescue Ranger costumes), Ludwig von Drake....... Admittedly that's spread out over 10 years, there are others but thats just off the top of my head and not counting special costumes for the fab five.

I met the Sheriff of Nottingham when I was little.... I have a photo! I also seem to recall Prince John/Sir Hiss?

The Cinderella mice, do they come out anymore? That's Pearl and Suzy right?

Roger Rabbit, I had that framed photo in my bedroom for years.

We unexpectedly met Suzy and Perla at 1900 Park Fare after dinner last December. They were taking pictures by the Christmas tree near the exit. When we left, there was no one in front of us, and no one behind us, so it was pretty cool. Unfortunately, I am now reminded that I did not get to try the strawberry soup, which I had really wanted to try, and I don't think hubby really wants to go back (he doesn't like character buffets - trying to time food vs. characters stresses him out too much).

We've met Mushu (Mulan was meeting with him regularly at the time), the hyenas from Lion King (during a villain party), Starlord and Gamora (at the same party) and pretty much all of the more common characterpalooza characters.
