I know DIS members wouldn't do this but I would like to tell the DVC members that give their points to their children (grandchildren, whatever) for they and their friends to go on Spring Break without them to think first........these are family resorts and not Panama City Beach or the hottest Spring Break destinations, but many of them are acting as if it is.....flame suit on :headache::mad:

No flames here....I only hope if your seeing inappropriate behavior that you are reporting it.

No flames here either!
I wholeheartedly agree with you!

I was just on Trip Adviser and was reading a trip report for the resort that my DD is at right now in Cayo Coco Cuba for March Break (Canada). She is there with 400 other grads and this trip report was from today......yup they are destroying the place:scared1: Hope she's not one of them......but that's what happens when the supervision is not great unfortunately (and in Cuba the drinking age is 16....they are 17 and 18). This is a real :headache: for other guests. Something I would expect at an all inclusive but not a WDW DVC.

No way I could agree, when I have no idea what they were doing :confused3

The problem with kids today is they are just like we were!

We did spring break at SSR one year. The place was exciting with young thinkers everywhere. I was enthused to hear the bright young minds bragging in the hot tub (beers in hand) late one night as to how they were taking charge of the world and would make it right. (I stayed low and quiet; I felt like Darth Vader, representing all that was evil in the world)

I remember having such thoughts myself! And the experience made me wonder when in my young career did I decided to just get in line, to accept the "norms", to reset goals to match typical cultural expectations? What happened to changing the world to be better? I guess when one finally leaves the protected world of parents and academia, the realities of taking care of those within your boundaries of care take over. The only thing left I guess is just to buy more points, sit low in the hot tub, and enjoy the new world they bring.

Back to OP - are you speaking from experience? Have you observed problems at the HHI DVC resort before? Or are you just talking in general. I just can't imagine there being problems at HHI. We were there last March and then again in April and didn't observe any inappropriate behavior at all.

Agreed! I have seen it at WDW resorts as well - we were all that age once too, but an upscale family resort is not the place for it.
Just curious - what types of behavior have you seen?

Yes! I am here right now. I am not making this up....these are not "young thinkers" these are loud, foul mouth, drunk kids. We don't sit on our deck ....my favorite thing to do because of them. We can hear them with the doors closed. They also sit around the kiddie pool with their coolers. I have a nineteen year old and my DH like to have a good time, too. They had problems last week also.

Like I said this is not Panama City beach.

And yes I have called the front desk about it and they have talked to them.

This is not a HH bashing post, we own here and have been coming in June for 9 years....it is bashing DVC members post who let their kids use their points without supervision.

Yeah, I often feel the same at work. I love to hear them talk while they still know everything!

Like I said...just like us!

The resort management can and should correct that kind of behavior. If they don't, they're not doing their jobs.

Agreed, and the best way to correct it is to CHARGE! If they cause damage, make them pay. If they create comfort issues, they need to be told they can be evicted. I know it's not the "Disney way", but why should others suffer for the lack of respect from a few.

If it's that bad then maybe a call to the local police is in order. I'm sure they have plenty of experience with this kind of behavior and it should leave a lasting impression on the kids that will hopefully curtail their future behavior.

Even if the police give the kids nothing more than a warning having the cops show up might prompt the resort staff to be a little more forceful the next time something like that gets reported.

Where was it said they were causing damage?

For excessive noise at late hours the cops MAY come out. For bad language or noise before 10 pm, I highly doubt it. Plus you are wasting the city's sparce resources sending the police out on a nuisance call that should be taken care of by the resort.

Are they under 18? Then they really don't need supervision, just better manners. Definitely an issue with the resort enforcing any noise rules, but nothing more. Foul language is not a "kid" exclusive offense, I've heard worse out of drunk 50 year olds.

I believe HHI charges a 1% local accomodations tax that goes directly toward public safety expenses. The various lodging & resorts on HHI provide a significant portion of the police departments annual budget, which they then outsource to the county sheriff anyway. It's not a problem with having enough resources. Being a tourism dependent town they deal with this type of thing every day. I agree that if it's just kids being loud then that is a resort issue. If its public drunkeness then the police need to be called.

The replies sound like you all think the person who complains is the "bad guy" in this instance.
