Whithin weeks of arriving home from the best holiday ever (10 Days at All Star Sports) my girlfriend booked us a trip to Disneyland Paris which was for my birthday in May. We usually stay at the Cheyenne but as this was for my birthday she wanted to do something special, the special was booking us a montana room at sequira lodge. We had a very pleasant drive over, it was the day of the champions league final and knowing(hoping) the Arsenal fans were going to be driving home very sad that same night made it seem a bit better.(sad int i!) So far so good.
So upon arrival we go to the check-in desk. Now, it was downhill from here. When we were being given our room keys and tickets and everything, the polite lady said that there was a slight bit of scafolding round the outside of the main building (which included our room), she then asked if we wanted a different room without the scafolding. We were a bit unsure until she said that we could go to the room and if we didnt like it we could come back and switch to another one.
So she gave us directions to get to the room, wrong directions we found in the end. She sent us round the outside of the building along next to the lake and through the doors which werent very far from where we were stood in reception. So after a 10 minute trip getting to our room dragging 2 suitcases behind us we were now knackered.(not very fit you see
)
now we open the door and walk in....the room was big, but there was nothing in there...... a king size bed, a small table and a cabinet/cupboard thing which also housed the TV. The room was very unappealing.
So we head to the window, (my GF had made sure she booked a room with a view of the lake, im not sure whether she paid extra for this) behind the nets that didnt even cover the whole of the windows was scafolding, a lot of scafolding......also the scafolding was covered in sheeting, so we didnt actually have a view.....next thing we know there are now workmen outside our window.......which they can easily see in through as the nets were too small.
My GF phones down to reception and asks to speak to the person who dealt with our check-in and ask if we can move to a different room as agreed. "Sorry" we are told, "there are no other rooms available"
So she spent the next half hour to an hour argueing with them about what they are going to do for us. They said they could not move us until the next day, and that they would have to downgrade us to a cheaper/lesser room. After the negotiations had finished we decided to stay where we were. We were givin some of our cash back for our troubles (not sure how much) and could now start unpacking and get out to the parks. Whoops, i forgot....there were cracked, loose, sharp edged tiles on the bathroom floor and what seemed like a splatter of blood on the wall?
Anyways, this was our worse ever memory of Disneyland Paris. But apart from this the hotel was good. The breakfast and dinner area was clean and well organized, there always seemed to be a Disney character there for photos and there shop sold my favorite disney shortbread biscuits. It was in easy walking distance from the parks and Disney Village (pleasant walk too) and didnt seem to be very quite compared to the Cheyenne.
After this experience, we will just go back to the Cheyenne in the future.
Im not sure what this rant was to achieve, im not sure if it was supposed to help anyone decide on what hotel to book in the future, im not even sure if it was really necessary after getting compensation. Maybe i just needed to get it off my chest.
Ive been through our photos and found that i didnt take any pictures of the scafolding but im sure i have some on camcorder footage soo i will try and take a few stills and post them up later or tommorow. Hopefully you people didnt stop reading this at the second paragraph or less!!
Anyways......there it is. RANT OVER!
