Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

ok well idk if this has been posted already(i didnt read the whole thread yet)

there is supposedly a ghost in potc his name is george and if the cms dont say good morning to him every morning then the ride supposedly breaks down.

anotherone is the story of the haunted mansion bc there is a "ring" in the ground after you exit which is really the leftovers of a pole and a screwdriver tip and there is actually a story behind it that says that a lady was to be married and something happened to her fiancee and she got mad and threw her ring out the window and thats the story behind that

Alas, the ring has been removed from the pavement (at least it was gone in April):(

Anybody know if this is still true? Heard it lately?

I don't know how long ago the message you quoted was posted, but I've never heard Lilo calling for Stitch in the men's room. I've only heard Stitch calling for Lilo. And he was still doing it when I visited WDW last December. :stitch2:

Yes, it was permanently removed during HM's major rehab last summer. Imagineers were never happy with the fact that CMs were telling guests that "unauthorized" backstory about the "ring" and took advantage of the rehab to finally get rid of it once and for all. :)

Ah, those wonderful Disney bus drivers... :goodvibes

That most definitely is a dolphin on top of the Dolphin, but it's not a dolphin of the mammalian variety. It's a dolphin fish, otherwise known as a dorado or a mahimahi. :)

Actually, I believe it's simply an old (very, very old) fashioned style dolphin -- this fountain (Le Fontaine des Quatre Dauphins) is in the Quartier Mazarin of Aix-en-Provence, France, and was erected in 1667 by Rambot:

See the similarities?

i have read in an earlier post that ToT and EE are 199 ft... well i learned from a recent trip to Disney that EE is actually 199.5 ft making it the tallest structure on Disney property.

they are built at these sizes bc walt didnt want any red blinking lights on top of any rides to ruin the magic

Not certain, but i think Muslims recognize Jesus as a great teacher and prophet and recognize (as do Jews & Christians) the bible as word of God.

Judaism and Islam both view the Old Testament as a component of their faith. The 'keyhole' or 'eye of the needle' story referenced is an Old Testament story, if I remember right, which would be accepted by all 3 faiths.

A cast member who was sweeping up remarked on my oldest DD gnawing on a giant turkey leg. I mentioned how HUGE the turkey must have been -- we had all taken a few bites and there was plenty of meat still left. He gave me a funny look and said "You know it's not really turkey, right? What does it look like to you?" He gave me a smug smile and nodded when I admitted it looked more like a ham than a turkey leg.

DISCLAIMER: I don't think this is true, mainly because it wouldn't be "kosher" to feed pork to thousands of people while telling them it's turkey. lol

The Liberty Tree in Liberty Square does have thirteen lanterns to symbolize the original 13 colonies. I had read on the WDWINFO website that the tree itself was moved from somewhere else and developed an infection. They plugged the damage with concrete.

I can't post links yet, but if you use Yahoo! to search for the phrase "Let Freedom Ring mousematters" you can find the page.

I believe the FAA requires permission to build any structure over 200 feet high if within 3 nautical miles of an airport, but possibly irregardless of the distance from an airport. And surely they would require blinking red lights on top to warn aircraft, as the other poster mentioned.

In the opening scene of The Little Mermaid movie when King Triton enters the room for the concert if you look closely in the audiance you'll see Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and a kid wearing a Mickey Ears Hat.

before I leave to put in my Little Mermaid movie, do you happen to know the uh, circumstances surrounding the graphic picture on the cover????:lmao:

ROFL That's the first thing I wondered when people started mentioning the Little Mermaid! I figured it was kind of like the Richard Gere gerbil story, everyone's heard it and nobody is quite sure if it's true! :lmao:

People always say this at fairs and such too. The problem is that slow cooked and smoked turkey (and probably other poultry) turns pink. That's actually the desired color lol. Even in commercially prepared smoked turkeys that you buy at the store, sometimes they even add a pink color too it when they add the smoke flavor to make it more realistic. Hope that makes you feel better about eating those turkey legs!

This is one of my favorites - it was told to me by a boat driver...

The building we know to be the Dolphin was originally supposed to be the Swan, and vice versa. When the construction crew mistakenly put the huge dolphin statues on top of the wrong (Swan) hotel, it was decided that it would be easier to change the hotel names than to take the statues back down and put them where they belong!

This is true, we were told this as well. If you notice, the Swan hotel has waves on it and the Dolphin has reeds - obviously backwards.

I had been told this as well. I was reading a book last year and it quoted Michael Graves on this subject. He stated that it is an urban myth and gave the reason behind the placement of each statue and the respective buildings. I can't remember what it is now, but once he explained it it made total sense.

I was told this story by a CM on the KTTK tour, but he said walt handed candy to kids and watched how far they walked before needing a trash can for the wrapper, 20 steps.

When the park was being built, Walt wanted to figure out how close together to place the trash cans.
He got himself a hotdog and stood still. He figured place a trash here.
Then he walked as he ate the hot dog. When he finished the hot dog, there needed to be another trash can for the wrapper. That distance is how close the trash cans needed to be.
The last time I was in the world I thought about that story, it seems "extra" cans must have been added, or he ate really fast!

But why does the Dolphin look like a fish-not a dolphin?

Here' few I'm sure everyone knows.

Port Orleans and Port Orleans Riverside had their names changed because Dixie Landings might have been consider a negative sterotype.

Also, All the property that Disney owns in Orlando is bigger than Manhattan and Boston and that Disney has only built on 30% of the property, so they have 70% that is sill undeveloped.

i heard that the statues were placed like this so that when you look out from the swan you see the reeds, and when you look out from the dolphin you see the waves

I think it is supposed to look like an ancient Roman dolphin, like they made on fountains and statues of that time.
