Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

I read through most of this thread and I didnt see anyone point this out. During Illuminations, there are several points around the park that shoot a laser beam to each other. Lasers are used in the show, emanating from the American Adventure, Canada and Mexico pavilions. The FAA requires the user of any outdoor laser system to obtain advance permission and to contact local airports prior to use. Consequently, Orlando International Airport is notified every night when the show begins so that air traffic can be advised and directed accordingly. I don't recall the lasers during the show, but definitely remember them before hand. I had thought it was to coordinate the fireworks and such.

Cool info... never new that... Where did you learn this.:surfweb:

The Imagineers searched the most popular words in English pub names and they were Rose and Crown and that's why England's pub is the Rose and Crown

In the opening scene of The Little Mermaid movie when King Triton enters the room for the concert if you look closely in the audiance you'll see Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and a kid wearing a Mickey Ears Hat.

Must be true. There is a Rose and Crown Pub in the movie "My Fair Lady". You can see it when Alfred P. Doolittle comes out of of the pub, just before singing "I'm Getting Married in the Mornin' "

dont know if this was posted but

on sorin when the lady says flight 5-5-05, that is when the ride opened

I was in London last summer (actually lost at the time) and came across a Rose and Crown Pub.. looked very much like the Disney version except completely red

This is one of my favorites - it was told to me by a boat driver...

The building we know to be the Dolphin was originally supposed to be the Swan, and vice versa. When the construction crew mistakenly put the huge dolphin statues on top of the wrong (Swan) hotel, it was decided that it would be easier to change the hotel names than to take the statues back down and put them where they belong!

And, one of our bus drivers told us that it was the Swan and Carp - that's not a dolphin on the top of that hotel, but it could hardly be called the "Carp" hotel.

I haven't read all the posts, but this past spring visit I learned that all the animals you see on the Safari are put into buildings at night. They each have their own "call". This way, their health and diet can be regulated. I had no idea. I'm sure this is why the Safari stops every night, regardless of sunset time, at the same time. We were just there during the longest day of the year and the sign for "because of the early sunset..." was still there.

I happened to notice the buildings as we were taking the train to Conservation station and I asked a cm what they were for and why they had animal names on them.

I'm actually a little surprised that this is purposely shown while you are on the train. I've often wondered why the seats aren't facing forward and you just look at trees.

Also, anyone who has learned a "secret" on a tour is not supposed to reveal it here.:)

Ah, those wonderful Disney bus drivers... :goodvibes

That most definitely is a dolphin on top of the Dolphin, but it's not a dolphin of the mammalian variety. It's a dolphin fish, otherwise known as a dorado or a mahimahi. :)

-You'll never see any MK cast members wandering thru another land (ie someone with a Fantasyland costume walking thru Tomorrowland). They have to come up a stairway in their "land" from the Utilidor.

I have! I was waiting for a table at the Liberty Tree Tavern when one of the 'cowboys' came in to flirt with the hostess. She yelled at him for being there in costume. Funny how shocked I was by this. It really spoiled the illusion, but it did remind me that all the cast members were just normal people doing their jobs!

Also, I sat next to an ex-cm on a plane once. She was telling me that the princess dresses (not the named princesses like Belle and Jasmine, the princess dancers) cost upward of $6500 each.

i have read in an earlier post that ToT and EE are 199 ft... well i learned from a recent trip to Disney that EE is actually 199.5 ft making it the tallest structure on Disney property.

When we went to AK last, my sister asked a CM why some of the Meer Cats stand on their hind legs and look around. He told he they were watching out for danger. He also told her that they're not the brightest crayon in the box, because they've been here four years and are yet to twig that there has never been and will never be any danger :thumbsup2

now that's funny!

In the bathrooms between Frontierland and Adventureland, listen very closely. In the women's bathroom, you can hear Stitch calling and looking for Lilo and in the men's bathroom, you can hear Lilo calling and looking for Stitch.
Tomorrowland too

Anybody know if this is still true? Heard it lately?

That seems a little odd, since Morocco is a Muslim country and they don't follow Jesus's teachings. :confused3

Love all the trivia!

Not certain, but i think Muslims recognize Jesus as a great teacher and prophet and recognize (as do Jews & Christians) the bible as word of God.

ok well idk if this has been posted already(i didnt read the whole thread yet)

there is supposedly a ghost in potc his name is george and if the cms dont say good morning to him every morning then the ride supposedly breaks down.

anotherone is the story of the haunted mansion bc there is a "ring" in the ground after you exit which is really the leftovers of a pole and a screwdriver tip and there is actually a story behind it that says that a lady was to be married and something happened to her fiancee and she got mad and threw her ring out the window and thats the story behind that
