Random WDW Info - I Never Knew!

FYI, there are scans of the tunnels maps online, just google it.

And you don't wanna go in there!

Is "there" the tunnels under MK or is there the websites with the maps?

On my KTTK tour in 2001 we went into the tunnels and met a lot of the cast members. We loved the golf buggies too for getting around but there were too many of us. It was a great tour and advise anyone who hasn't been on one to go on one.

Its not a man. For the last time TINKERBILL DOES NOT EXIST! Now since I said that a tinkerbill probably fell down dead somewhere. clap if you beleive in tinkerbills.....

The reason her legs are so big is probably because she needs to have enough muscle to hold herself up, guys arent the only ones that have muscle.

I have never laughed so hard in my life as I did when I read this post...lol. I have been laughing for 5 minutes, crying and now I have the hiccups...lol. My daughter thinks I'm nuts...:rotfl:

...a tinkerbill probably fell down dead somewhere....ahhhh!!! hahahahahahahaha..

I learned these tidbits on the KTTK tour . . .

1) Tinkerbell must weigh between 95 and 105. She is weighed twice on the day of her flight. Once during the day and the next about 1 hour before her flight. If she weighs less than 95, she will fly too fast. If she weighs over 105, then there is a chance of her getting "stuck" in flight.

The guide also added that there is some big guy at the top of the Castle (inside) whose job is to "push Tinkerbell out the window". This gives her the momentum to make her successful flight. She gets one full days pay for "hazard pay" to just work that one hour. (and yes, you smarty pants out there . . . they do make sure she is hooked up securely before the guy pushes her out the window!) :rotfl:

When someone asked if Tinkerbell is a girl, the CM said, "Yes". He comically added, "With the way cameras are so sophisticated nowdays and have the zoom power they do, it would not be cool to have Tinkerbell with a 5:00 o'clock shadow". :rotfl2:

2) When they were constructig AK, they brought over Africans who were skilled at making the grass tops on the buildings. Since our OSHA laws mandated they work in steel toed boots, WDW had to get special permission for the workers to work barefoot since they insisted they needed to work barefoot to use their feet and toes.

We too went on the KTTK tour and went down into the corridors. What I am trying to figure out is which is the "there" that I don't want to go to- the corridors or the internet?

I'm sure someone here can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the apartment was actually going to be for Roy's family, since Walt died before construction even began on WDW.

It is confusing in publications, b/c it says the apartment was meant for the Disney Family. They don't often state if was Walt Disney or Roy Disney, but I believe this one was meant for Roy's family.

The apartment was built for Roy Disney but he didn't have enough DVC points to stay there. :rotfl:

I am going to go with - the tunnels. As a CM, I am endlessly fascinated by guests desire to see these hot, smelly, dirty, cluttered hallways!

Just read all 29 pages and I'm subscribing just like all the other great threads!

... Just to add something I read somewhere not sure if they're true, will find out this Oct ...

If you sit next to the castle, in the front, you can hear stitch, who is "hiding" through the speakers.

There are a few phones in the shops on main street, where if you listen, you can hear conversations between the neighbors.

Ive met a few women here on the DIS I'd like to throw out a tall window. Can I say that here???:lmao:

I once asked a bus driver how much money was made at Disney each night. He said "Its impossible to know". He said that Disney as an entire business (thats ALL Disney... resorts, parks, movies, cruises, apparel, etc) is so big that if it DID go up for sale theres not a human being alive that could afford it. i cant say its fact, but it sounds good. popcorn::

i was a CM at epcot for four months in college, working in special events, and had no idea there was a tunnel somewhere. i'd be dying to know where - anyone have a clue? :scratchin

It is not very long and the entrance is off to the side of Universe of Energy. It is used for storage and to get merchandise into Mousegears storage area.

DH and I have discussed this too. Those swans have to be men!

In the fall of 1997 I was a seasonal CM in costuming; working parades, shows and the old Christmas program they had at the Contemporary in the conference hall. At that time all of the swans were men. Those costumes are not very light and are a bit difficult to get into. Once the person is in the "body" of the swan another CM has to help them finished getting dressed because the persons hands cannot reach. This entails fastening the lower part of the costume under the crotch. Let me tell you we made many a joke and did the occassional wedgie to the guys when having to do that! :lmao:

The only other "female" type characters I remember having men in the inside were the pink hippos. At the time I worked there Tinkerbelle was definitely a female. All of the Mickey's & Minnie's I met back then were female. Of the two Donald's I met one was a girl and the other was a guy who was not the nicest fellow in the world and who most of us tried to avoid if at all possible.

If you go to a character audition the first thing they do is measure you to see what character range you will fit into. They have a wall measuring chart which is marked with character height ranges.

If you are between 4'8" and 5'0" you are pretty much guaranteed to get a character job as that is Mickey, Minnie, Donald height, Donald being a the low end of the range.

The only other ranges I remember is Chipmunks & Pooh were to be around 5'2", Pluto around 5'6".

I like little tidbits.

I didn't know #1 and #2, but as an ex-cast member I'm aware that they pipe yummy food smells into the air. Not just at the bakery...there are other places.
