Random PhotoPass tips :)

We just asked some of the photographers for them, although we did keep forgetting to ask. The ones at Animal Kingdom though were good about just setting up the shot for Simba.

Here is the website I was talking about:

Scroll down and you'll see the Magic Shots section. There is lists the different shots, as well as where and when you can get them.

Great info! Thanks so much, I will definitely get the photopass when we go in August this year.

We prepaid $149 for both the CD and photobook.
We were charged an additional $7 for the CD for postage and an additional $10 for the shipping on the photobook.

i love all the information about photopass photos and photographers but i have a silly question... are the photographers as gracious if you ask them to use your own camera instead of theirs?

I didn't have a problem with this at all, but I usually would ask the character handler to do the shots because it's difficult to juggle two cameras. But! especially when you meet tinkerbell, make sure you give your photopass card to the photographer before you go to tink. The photographer I had didn't ask me for my card, took the pictures and gave me a new card, which I promptly lost. I went in a second time, and the shots the same photographer took were of me talking to tink rather than posing. I would have loved to have the first card because we were both looking at the camera rather than looking at each other.

Also, when it comes to the magic shots, in DHS not all of the photographers know how to take specific shots, (the hot air balloon one specifically). The Lilo sitting on the bench, and the stich sitting on the bench are only shot around the time of the parade (read at a specific time). And finally, the magic shots can ONLY be shot during the daytime.

Best suggestion, get in on one of the photopass shares that are available on this board. This will save you a TON!! of money. I was part of a 5 person share and it was about $25 for as many shots as I wanted to take. (I believe I ended up with a few hundred shots!!!) Most of all have a GREAT time and enjoy yourselves!!!!

I didn't have a problem with this either. We generally let the photographer or handler use our camera as well.

And if you ever go with a larger group, that's a good time to try to split the cost with everyone for the photopass CD in advance. All the cards can be linked to the same CD.

For instance, if we go (me, dh, dsx2) with my bro, dsil, nephew & my mom, we can split 5 ways between the adults, just for our party of eight.

I just wish we'd thought of it when we were with an even larger group. Once we were with a party of 7 adults, which makes it that much cheaper. And ordering in advance also makes it even cheaper yet.

Write your name on the Photopass card with a Sharpie (permanent marker). Check to make sure the photographer gave you back your card. A few years ago one of our PhotoPass card was accidentally switched with someone else's card. One of our cards had about 1/2 of the pictures of another family. Obviously, there was another family out there as disappointed as we were.

A co-worker just returned from DW--she lost their Photopass, but fortunately she wrote down the Photopass #. A CM was able to pull up her photos with the card #. Looking forward to hearing some more tips.

That's a good idea, but also take a picture of the number on your photopass card with your own digital camera (be sure you can read it - generally you need low light and to get directly above it to get it). That way, if you lose your photopass card, you still have the number to get your pictures.

I totally agree with having fun with the photographer. We did the photopass and some of the pictures are just about correct but many of them are absolutely beautiful and most important, we have some family pictures.
:grouphug:
My favorites are pictures of my daugther taken at MK, somewere betwen the castle and tomorrowland, around an area with roses. We were having some family pictures but my son needed a little moment to go to the restrooms. Good timing as usual!:rotfl:
:cutie: My daugther was wearing her tinkerbell dress and wings and she had found a little rose on the ground. Being her little playfull self, she started dancing and runing with the flower all around the roses bushes. It was so cute...and my husband had left with my son...and the camera....
As no one was there but us, the photopass photographer just started taking pictures, and i was so happy to see that i would have pictures of that moment! And they turned out to be the most beautiful pictures of our entire trip .
Just to add one thing...on the photopass web site, the pictures dont look very good (poor light and colors) but when i got the cd, they were absolutely beautiful !

Regarding lost Photopass cards - if you have the patience and a good memory, CMs at photopass stations can help you get your pictures back. Each picture taken is tagged in their system. If you can remember that you had a picture taken with Tinker Belle at Pixie Hollow at around 12:45 yesterday, they can bring up every picture in their system that matches that criteria. You and the cast member will have a few hundred pictures to look through (depending on how detailed you are with the information you give them) to find the one of you, but once you find one picture of you, they can pull up the PhotoPass number and all of the pictures to a new card. I know, because I've done it!

This may be a dumb question, but I usually use Shutterfly to print pictures and make photobooks of our vacations. Will I have any trouble transferring the pictures to the website from the photopass CD?

CAN i TAKE MY PHOTOPASS CD ANYWHERE AND HAVE PICTURES MADE OR AM I RESTRICTED TO ONLY HAVING PRINTS MADE THROUGH DISNEY?

Disney gives you printing rights. Not the same as copyright. I.e. you can't take your photos and sell them. But you can print them as often as you like and as many as you want.

Nope, it's easy to do.

I also agree about getting pics done more than once. There is only so much those camera flashes can handle in Florida's harsh mid-day sun.

And pretty much anyone can get a job as a photographer there. While I am sure some are "professional", most won't have the best knowledge of photography so it is highly likely to get blurry shots. Ask them to take a few shots.

5th trip to WDW - 1st timers with Photo Pass.

Thank you for this thread!
DIS is the best! :dance3:

I pre-ordered the photo pass cd and am so glad I did! There are tons of great shots! I have read here that I need to save the photos in every size I think I might print them in, how do I do that? Is it under the edit tab? And then once I have edited and added borders to all the pics, I just add the cd to my cart?

Thanks for all the tips! It will be just me and DBF in December, so PhotoPass is a must if we want any pictures together! And I definitely want my monies worth for the price, so these tips are very useful!

I'm leaving Thursday night... is it too late to pre-purchase the Photopass? I'm just now reading about this. Is it all just digital, or how does it work when I prepay?

You can still prepurchase. Here's the site: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitoffer.aspx

Price has gone up to $119, however. A credit will be in your account once you purchase and you can apply your credit when ready to order your CD. You can get the pictures by digital download or CD whichever you prefer once you get back. No shipping for download, obviously, whereas shipping for the CD is about $7.

Do you have to have your photos put on a CD to use PhotoPass? We don't really keep tangible copies of photos and most of our albums are hosted online. I thought I read somewhere that uploading to Facebook and places online is free - it's only if you want your copies on a CD that there's cost involved.

Did I misunderstand, or is that how it works?
