I think DCT meant our new house on the part deux thread!:rotfl:

We built our house, broke ground on DS's first birthday, so we have been in it for 14 years. It was so fun picking out everything. We were on the "do it yourself" kick for a lot of things, so we stained all the woodwork ourselves, put the yard in ourselves, did some little things like screw the handles on the kitchen cupboards. We had the walls plastered, and I have still only painted the family room, dining room, our bedroom. Everything else is still white plaster. We really didn't have any big problems with the build. We are pretty easygoing folk. A few years after we build, DH put the pool in. Himself! An inground one. He is a HR manager, not a contractor, but it was something he thought he could do. It is great!

yes, I did mean the other thread! :lmao: I wish we could build our own house. We bought our first house in 1996, it was a small 3 bedroom and I loved that house. We just moved in this house 2 summers ago, it's much bigger with a inground pool in a super nice neighborhood. We kept the old house and are renting it out now. I couldn't part with it. A few years ago, we were THIS close to building a home in Texas. I mean, we were a day away from signing the papers. We could have sold our house here in SoCal (this was still our old house), and bought a 3,700 sq. house, on 2 acres, with a pool and everything, in Texas and never had a mortgage. Scary thought huh? :scared1: But we chickened out, neither one of us really wanted to leave California.

All the new developments here, we don't really like. They all have such small backyards, unless you want to pay 1.5 mio. Plus, it seems like they all have HOA that really limit what you can do, and some charge up to $500 a month!!

Ok get ready to spit out your tea on the computer screen...my mother had to check her webkinz :lmao: Yes she has webkinz...3 actually and she treats them as if they are real children :confused3

my DD has 21 webkinz! But she's only 8! :rotfl:

See, bringing one would be a problem....only DH has an active one. Way too expensive to get passports for the rest of us for a day trippie.

We didn't need passports for our Disney cruise and we left the country, so I think it's safe to assume you don't need one for Canada. I think it only applies now if you fly, and not take the car. The only reason we got passports for us for the cruise is because we left the country for a longer period of time, and I heard horror stories of people having medical emergencies and having to go back to the US and not being able to because they don't have a valid US passport.

I totally would not worry about it if I just took a day trip to Canada!

She is addicted to Goober's Lab :lmao: I came in after an hour to see if she was done and she was like "Hold on I'm in a tournament and I have to know if I won :confused3 She has over $150,000 in Kinz Cash...I think I need to find her a new hobby :rotfl2:

buy her a puppy or something!

even though it is only 9:12 in DIS time (9:46 real time) I must say
toodle loo
for tonight.
DH is back from baseball meeting and wants to share....
Now, I have very little interest in the boyish chatter of baseball for under 16 year olds, but I am very good at appearing to be :listen:
But, if I type when I am appearing to :listen: it clues DH in that I am NOT really listening! (smart cookie!)

byeeee! We'll leave the light on for you!
