Random Characters today

I've noticed to, just "tour groups" of (mostly) young summer cms.

Can someone really explain to me how you can tell they are training???

For one thing, certain locations are only used at certain times of the year (when characters get used to their new friends).

The locations are not regular meet&greet locations. There are no ropes and a good amount of the handlers have "earning my ears" tags on. The characters are random - its just kind of known that these areas are for training.

Also - the characters are incredibly animated and enthusiastic. Not that some aren't all the time, but you can tell these are "learning" interactions. I saw a couple getting directions from handlers a few times yesterday in a very private manner.

No mass groups this past weekend, only Snow White, Tiana, Naveen, Mickey and Minnie at the various spots. It really pays to give it a look every time youre in EPCOT, theres always a possibility

Thanks to this thread, we looked in the spot near the International Gateway last Thursday afternoon, 6/2, and found several characters in training. The large gates were open, and nearly all of the characters were back inside of that area, with just one or two on the sidewalk outside of the gated area. We saw them around 2pm, and they had the same set of characters back out at 3pm.

I think there were about a dozen characters including Terk, Rafiki, Fowlfellow, Gideon, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Gepetto, and a few I can't remember.

Great opportunity to catch a bunch of characters with very little wait time!

We were there that day too. We were there before 2, I think. Pinocchio was also there. We didn't get a picture with everybody, because we walked up after it was open so we only had a few minutes to try and get as many pictures as possible. There were hardly any lines, maybe 3-4 people, tops.

My past couple of WDW trips were not about characters so i feel a bit out of the loop. Where is the spot near the International Gateway exactly? Also, is there a new spot in the MK since Toontown closed down? How about in HS (behing the hat) and AK? Thank you so much! Our trip is only in August, but this trip will be allll about character hunting! Jozy's back!

At the gateway you will usually see face characters-they wander from the top of the bridge to the gift shop. AK hasn't been used in about six months, but people have said it's still "officially" active. They haven't been doing anything at MK or studios in some time. Epcot and it's 5 spots are about it right now.

5 spots in EPCOT! Ok, i'm SO out of it. I only know about the spot near AA, and now the international gateway... Also, i heard something a while back about characters in the Animation building on non Fantasmic night or whatever, whats that all about? Thanks again!!!!!
