Random Acts of Kindness - Spread some Mickey Magic/Pixie Dust...ideas? Promises!

If you have kids and rent the strollers you can give yours to someone else on the way out? Sorry that's all I could think of right now.

ok, will go back and read, but I just wanted some input, we are really broke, we take our food and live here, so we don't spened any $$. We do give out CM cards, but what are some ideas (we do the FP one) of free things I may not have thought of to do?
I do let ppl go in front of us in line, give tips and hints, etc....but I want to do more especially since I am there so much and MJ is the object of so many good things there.

First of all, let me applaud you for your adoption advocacy. We are in the (very early stages) process and I admire you so much for just what I've read in your sig line!

Are you AP - as in Attached? We are, too :)

There is a MAGNIFICENT Christian mothers board for gentle/attachment parenting. PM me if you want the link - I love it there!

Anyway...that said, sure there are things you can do. :)
Where there's a will, there's a way.

Sometimes I'll make it a point to mention to the kids "LOOK - it's Cinderella!" when a little girl walks by in costume. They BEAM! (Moms and girls) :)

You could do something as simple as hold the door for a mom with her hands full (I know I'd love you forever for that one!) :)

You could let the children sit in front of you at a parade - someone mentioned having all the adults back up and letting all of the kids sit in the front row, so that no one was left on tippy toes trying to see :) I thought that was great!

Sometimes just a smile and a kind word go a long way!!! :)

You could print any of these things I put up - the little 'cards' onto paper and glue/sticker them to regular old business envelopes - and put fast passes inside...or stickers from the dollar store...or "pixie dust" :)

How about offering to take a family's picture so they can all be in it - or someone mentioned sharing a juice box with a child, etc. (Something pre-packaged and sealed would probably be okay).

Carry along some special Disney band-aids incase you see someone take a spill.

Bring along some extra quarters and pennies for a child who is interested in the penny pressing machine.

Hope that helps! :flower:

Just bought 3 pkgs. of "glow bracelets" for $1.00 each @ the dollar store. That way my DD9 can have a new one each nite and give away two ,each nite!!! I may go buy the mini pack of wedding bubbles $1.00 for a pkg. of 8 and pass them out too, when we see a cranky, overtired toddler waiting in a long hot line !!! Passing on some Disney Magic since we are so fortunate and thankful that we get to go to WDW again this year :flower: Also ,we'll be wearing our "Home Depot" Lime Green Mickey :bounce: ears ,so if you see us stop and say "hi" !!!

I would just like to say that you guys are awesome!!!!
I love it when I get proof that there is a lot of REALLY nice people in the world... specially in Disney World!!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

Someone on another board had a great idea. If you are on the dining plan (preferably the free one) buy the people next to you their meal using your credits.

Also, as above - give out the extra FP's.

Something you could do, and is probably overlooked is to pay for the next person's parking. The next time I will be going, I will probably have AP's, so my parking will be free, but I normally stay off property with some friends. So I have to drive through the gate each time. So, to pay for the next person's parking would be a nice thing. Helps to make the parents happy as they wrangle their kids to the trolley.

Pixie dust goody bags...filled with stickers, a trading pin, few pieces of candy, and some colored curling ribbon...tied up in cello with a bow and Pixie Dust card. Handing 10 of them to the first MouseKeeper I see and asking her to drop them off at random during her rounds.

There is a whole tread on glow sticks. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=854974&highlight=glow+sticks
I would love to do the glow stick idea but I think my dh would not be happy with me. I did get my dd a package of glow stuff from my dollar store. The package had 2 necklaces and 2 braclets in it. She does not need 2 necklaces and 2 braclets each night. I think I will try to get her to share. She just turned 3 so it may or may not work.

I read where someone gave there extra MYW snack credits to little kids on there last day. I don't expect to have extra snack credits but I think I will have extra counter service credits and will give those out.

We are also doing nice envelopes for mousekeeping.

What are the cm cards?

We got princess bubbles to carry with us. I got them at Party City. I think it was like 3.99 for 5 tubes. I like the tubes because they will slide easily into my bag or back pocket.

I like this thread. I wish more thread were like this.

I drop a little dust here and there. I like the spur of the moment thing the best. I read a post and something hits me. I just have to act on it. Disney my way!

I LOVE this thread! I just hope some of you will be there in late Oct so I can see all these glowing necklaces! I just got my new Oriental Trading catalog...I'll have to look thru.

As far as not spending money--I agree there are lots of things! One of my very best memories of WDW was when my DS was potty training, and we ran to the bathrooms inside the China pavillion--which happen to be part of the restaurant. He was SOOOO excited that he made it without an accident he was telling everyone he met on the way from the stall to the rest of our family outside. I was sure someone would just ignore him or think he was too loud--but EVERYONE took the time to congratulate him. An older kid made his day by giving him a "High 5, dude!" That random act still gives me a smile 5 years later!

When I leave a tip for mousekeeping, I will put a Hershey Miniature Candy or Hershey Kiss in the envelope too!

My dd(12) is really into the CM cards and mousekeeping. She designed the cards and I helped format them to be able to print.

I bought glow stuff from bernie's wholesale glow sticks and got a great deal. I over ordered so my kids could share. We also do the extra FP hand off. Giving up a seat on the bus for others is one that isn't expensive too.

You all have such wonderful ideas! I hope that I can put some to use in September/October as well!

This is so nice! I will bring along some mousekeeping cards for mousekeeping and for cms to. Never did this! Last year i did share my knowledge of the Spectro magic parade with a family at Mk for the 1st time and let the kids sit in front . They were not sure if it was worth staying seeing both spectro and
Wishes but afterwards they really appreciated me advise. We were also at a
perfect viewing spot for both. :goodvibes
Well thats good for a start, i guess . Of course meeting families and spreading the magic that way will always be there.

I already made up gift bags for mousekeeping as a added thank you, Then I bought a pack of 50 glow sticks, 25 bottles of bubbles, and those dollar store hand held games that have the water in them and you have to push the buttons to put the rings on the dolphins nose or put the basket ball in the net. Hopefully someone out there knows what I'm talking about. :rotfl2: Anyways I bought 40 of these, they came 4 for a dollar. Just today my husband asked when I'm going to rent the trailer to haul everything to Disney since I'm running out of room in a van. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :teeth: Knowing me I'll prob. find something else I want to bring too.
We're just helping on spreading the magic just like you guys. :flower:

I love these! How did you make them? Especially the background mickey swirl icons? :flower: I'd love to make some of my own.

I give away pins... I have WAY WAY too many LOL! So if you see me, send you kid over!

Wow you guys! What great ideas! You guys are so generous, Walt would be so proud. :goodvibes I wouldn't have thought about the FP give away until we had a very generous person give us theirs. Now I try to do that too. I love all of these ideas! I'll have to think of some of my own ideas to put with the ones you mentioned.

One of my friends is bringing her family for the first time and I'd like to leave a little something from "Mickey". Any ideas how can I get a small package delivered to another hotel? We're arriving a day before them and I'd like for it to be waiting when they arrive but I won't know a room number. I don't want to spend much but I thought some Disney fruit snacks, glow necklaces, stuffed Mickeys, etc. ::MickeyMo

We gave advice, and my 7yo dd wrote personal notes to the mousekeeper, who replied with personal notes also.

Lets see...what pixie dust can DISers spread?? Well, CherylP3 hugely shocked my family with a package of assorted gifts upon checkin! You don't know how great that made me feel about fellow DISers! There are really some great people on here!

Also, I don't know if it was a DIS member or not, but on our last day (Friday 8/19) before heading to the airport, we were in DTD. A woman in a wheelchair (is this anyone on here?) gave my kids several pins for trading. When my son Whoo-hooed at the pin given to him and insisted he would NEVER trade it, she told him to keep that one then, and gave him another one to trade. That's a lot of pixie dust!

I just wanted to say what wonderful people you all are.

Disney is such a wonderful place with magic all around and with the extra magic your sharing it makes the Magic extra special. Random acts of kindness is the biggest thing a child would remember about their holiday, i know this personally.

My children brought a a pin trading set each to get them started and my son was very excited but with it being a new thing to us, i had not got a clue what to do and asked a cast member for info. A lady over heard and stopped us on the way out of the shop and sat down with my children and myself and explained basically everything. We then got talking and spent probally a god hour with her and her husband. We thanked her and she said just one more thing and gave each of my children a tinkerbell Pin and said may she bring you all your wishes, by this time i was nearlly in tears as i have never had such a lovely act of kindness.

I went back to her and asked her for her address as i would like to keep in contact and now my children write to her often and they will always remember that kindness she gave them.

Now i plan on passing the pixie dust along and buying some pins too on my next visit in November as i want to give something back.
After reading this thread i hope more people help spread that extra special magic and keep Disney a happy and magical place.
