Ramen noodles

I like to eat them like noodles instead of soup like some PPs said. We just cook them in 1 cup of water though instead of 2 and they come out just right. I also break them before puttinig them in the water.

I break them and then put them in the water. Boil them and drain all water. Butter them and add garlic salt or powder.

When I was pregnant I craved these with shredded cheese thrown on top. :rotfl:

I like the noodles alone without the packet, too! My son likes them boiled then adds american cheese on it, microwaves it and he has his teenaged form of mac and cheese!

Forgot about Cabbage Crunch.

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Flavor packet from ramen noodles
1/2 head of cabbage, shredded
4 green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
1 package ramen noodles, broken and uncooked
1/2 cup sliced almonds, toasted
4 oz cooked chicken breast, chopped

Combine vegetable oil, sugar, vinegar, salt and flavoring from ramen noodles.
Pour over shredded cabbage.
Add green onions, sesame seeds and chicken
Toss together. Just before serving, add ramen noodles, almonds

This is so yummy!:thumbsup2 A friend of mine brought it to our church Christmas party. I couldn't believe it was Ramen! She makes hers a little different, 1 pkg of slaw mix, Red Wine vinegar and no sesame seeds. My dd11 loves Ramen as directed. I have to limit how much she eats it though, she would eat it every day if I let her:rotfl:

I usually put them in boiling water and add an egg or two in there. I break the yoke and swirl it around and let it cook through. Or I'll cook them al dente, drain all the water, put some olive oil in it and use the seasoning and whatever meat I have on hand if I want. I love those things and so do the kids.

Skip the season pack, drain the water and toss with Yoshida's terriyaki marinade and meat of your choice. Can add in stir fried veggies too.

I remember when I was a teenage I used to make Ramen noodles, dump off all the water and then use the whole seasoning package. LOL You know, back when fat and sodium didn't matter?? :lmao:

My SIL just gave me a recipe she makes with Ramen noodles:

Asian Beef and Noodles

1 lb to 1 1/2 lb hamburger
2-4 packages Oriental flavored Ramen noodles (depending on how much hamburger you're using and how many people you are feeding. Use 2 for 1 lb. hamburger and 3 or 4 for more.)
3-4 cups frozen veggies--amount depends on size of your crowd ( frozen California blend plus some frozen pea pods is a good combination)
soy sauce to taste

Brown hamburger and drain grease

Sprinkle 1 seasoning packet from Ramen noodles onto hamburger, mix and set aside.

In your frying pan, ad 1 cup of water for each package Ramen noodles and the rest of the seasoning packets from the ramen noodles. Add frozen veggies, heat to boiling then lower heat to simmer until noodles and veggies are done (about 10 minutes or so) add seasoned hamburger, dash on as much soy sauce as you like and continue heating on low until liquid is pretty much gone.

I haven't tried this recipe yet, but her family likes it. Now, I need to get the ingredients for that Cabbage Crunch!! :)

The way I make them is I put just a little water in a pan and bring to a boil.. I crush the ramen noodles.. Once it comes to a boil I pour noodles in and let cook about a minute.. I put the flavor mix in and stir..

I dont like mine soupy but more of just a noodle..

I also sometimes take corn in the can and drain the juice.. I put in a bowl with butter.. put in microwave..

Once done I drain the butter and then combine with the noodles..

Its yummy! My kids love them..

When it was just me and my kids on our own we had ramen noodles one night a week.. of course with corn.. A cheap dinner for less than $1!!

Kids at the pool this summer were eating the noodles uncooked straight from the package.

Does anyone remember when Campbells made a low fat version? They were so good!

I'm also a stir fry maker. 1 pound ground something, 1 lb bag frozen veggies, 2 packs of noodles, 1 pack of seasoning. The only thing is, it makes a lot and when you are single you have to eat it meal after meal.

You can repeat the above with your leftover seasoning pack and use rice instead.

I like the shrimp flavor best!

At our house we put the noodles in a bowl, cover with water and cook in the microwave for 5 minutes. Drain the water (all but a tiny so the seasoning will mix well). Mix the seasoning package in (the older kidos do this themselves, I tell them not to use the whole package, but who know what they do!) I put just enough that you can see it when I make the younger ones theirs... Mix it, cut it and eat it up! All 4 of my kids love these... and I will only buy them when I find them .10-.15 each... I would never pay .25 for them!!

I cook a frozen fish fillet in chicken broth with some scallions and a little bit of rice wine and little sesame oil. When it's cooked, I add noodles and some kind of green (my favorite is chinese broccoli). I throw away the seasoning packet. My family loves this. It's an easy lunch.

Ramen Noodle Salad

Cook 3 packets of Oriental flavored Ramen Noodles in water and drain.
Mix flavor packets with mayonnaise (about a cup?)
after noodles cool, mix them together and throw in some colored vegetables. (broccoli, peas, tomato, whatever)

Is great when you find out your kid is bringing the gang home.

This is SO yummy!

Ramen Noodle Coleslaw
Slaw:
2 - 1 pound bags of cole slaw or broccoli slaw (or similar amount of cabbage, red cabbage, carrots, broccoli, etc. that you process yourself)
1 bunch of green onions (optional)

Dressing:
2 packages of Ramen noodle seasoning
1/3 cup cider vinegar or rice wine vinegar
½ cup sugar (more or less to taste)
½ cup oil

Crunchies:
2 packages Ramen noodles, broken up (Oriental flavor - or 1 oriental, 1 chicken)
4 oz. package of almond slivers
4 oz. package of sunflower seeds (shelled)

Combine salad ingredients and dressing ingredients separately. Toss salad with dressing and crunchies right before serving.

Do not add dressing until just before ready to serve. If taking this dish away from home, transport the dressing and the noodles/seeds/nuts in a separate container.

We do it this way too!!

I LOVE to eat ramen noodles raw :yay: , straight out of the package. It is just like eating potato chips for me just a little messier. I am going to try the recipes that have been posted they sound really good :)

Ramen noodles aren't just bad for you they are *terrible* for you.

One package has nearly 400 calories, 16 grams of fat (half of that fat being saturated), and almost *1600mg* of sodium. Calorie-count.com gives it a grade of D-. I won't dispute that they are cheap, but the stuff is poison for your body.

I love Ramen Noodles, my kids love the cup ones I prefer the package kind you make on the stove.
