Has anyone stayed at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Hotel & Convention Center lately, or ever? I'm having a hard time finding reviews about this place and I got a great rate on Hotwire!

Never stayed there but we ran over there to rent a car once and the property looked decent. Good location on 192, near WDW, Publix, and all the fast food and chain restaurants you can name.

Thank you very much for your response! We basically just need a place to sleep, we plan on spending most of our time by the pool or in the parks!

You will find reviews for it if you check under it's previous name, Orlando Sun resort. The reviews will be pretty mixed.
The name change is so recent.. everything stills says Orlando Sun, with a banner across it saying Ramada.

We got a great rate on hotwire, and we are staying here the night before checking into our townhouse tomorrow.
Check in was quick, if not too friendly. We drove around to our room, and there were NO cars around. It was a bit eerie. We dragged our luggage to the second floor, no elevators, and dd waited in the hall while I check the beds for, well, anything. When I walked into the room, I walked right out again. It smelled like some old wet basement. This was room 3054 in building 3000.
Housekeeping was on the floor and I asked her if all the rooms smelled like that.. she didn't speak english, but dialed the desk for me. I told them I wanted a room change. The said to come back to the front desk. We dragged out luggage back down the stairs, and drove around to the front. The desk clerk, Sabrina, claimed she JUST talked to me on the phone and I said the room was great?! I told her not possible, I wanted ao room change. So she gives me room 31something (can't remember) in building 3100. The building was horribly musty smelling, but I figured I'd check the room anyway. I was thinking by then I'd lose the hotwire money and check in next door to the Radisson Resort Celebration. So, I slide the card in the door and it doesn't work. I tried the second card, same thing. We didn't bring our luggage this time at least. Back to the damn front desk. After explaining what happened, Sabrina announces it's the door lock and she'll call maintanence. HUH? I told her I wanted a new room, she said she couldn't. I asked for a manager. She stated to protest, and I just said firmly, I wanted a manager.
After a minute, Donna-Marie came out. She was wonderful, and she apologized, changed our room to a whole different section, building 1700, and gave us complimentary breakfast.
Still pretty leary about whether to try again, we did go to building 1700, and what a difference! The buiding had a nice scent to it.. the room was fresh and clean. I checked everything carefully and everything seemed fine.

We went to eat at Boma, had a nice time, and came back. Showered and went to bed. Then dd noticed her bed was wet. UGH. I don't think it was housekeepings fault really, I'm sure they had pulled the bed clothes off and made the bed. The wetness went through to the mattress so it soaked it's way up through the clean bed clothes again. It didn't smell good :scared:
We were in jammies, and tired. I just scooted over and dd is sleeping with me. We'll report it at check out.

Despite the fact that this building is really nice, I would NEVER stay here again! If the other buildings are that bad, there has to be other stuff I'm not seeing too.
Btw, this building seems full, or almost full. Not deserted like the back. My guess is we got those first 2 rooms, and a clerk reluctant to change us, because we purchased through hotwire.
Hate to give such a bad review of a hotel you'll be staying at. Request building 1700... I'm sure your stay will be ok.

Well thank you for the input. I read over the reviews of orlando sun resort and they aren't great, but on tripadvisor some reviews are fantastic and others think its horrible, so its hard to know until I'm there I guess. I am a little worried now, but for $30 per night, it was hard to pass up!

This used to be the Hyatt Orlando, and I stayed here once, and attended many conferences. It was empty for a time, then became the Orlando Sun. I just won it for $36 on Priceline (was hoping for Country Inn) and I'll be interested to see how it works for us for one night before DVC. I will post a review in August.

We'll be going in August as well and I won it on Hotwire for $29/night...I see that it was a great location, and this is a budget trip for us so I just couldn't pass up the deal. I just want a clean room, I'm not picky about other things.

Thank you, I did read your post the first time you described how awful it was. I am a little worried but not about to let this ruin my vacation, like I said if we get a dirty room, I'll just request another one. I don't plan on spending much time there anyway and with the price I paid I'm not expecting luxury, so I'll take my chances and have a great time in whatever situation! Sometimes a persons attitude towards a situation makes all the difference.

Oh my gosh.. I don't know how I did 2 posts. I posted the night we were there, then when I checked yesterday, I didn't see my post at all! I did another post because for some reason I never saw my original one. :confused3

I'm sorry about that...lol.. I wasn't saying it again just to make it sound even worse. As I said, if you ask for one of the front buildings, I'm sure it will be ok.

I got it on hotwire too for $36.00. It was a great deal for a 3*. I couldn't identify it by the amenties, so I knew I was taking a chance.
The reviews are so mixed because of the differences in buildings.
I have a pretty good attitude too when it comes to making the best of the situation, we were only staying there one night. But, the room has to be clean.. the first room wasn't. When dd asked what we would do if the whole place was like that, I just said we'd only be losing like $40.. no big deal, and the Radisson was right next door (she loves the pool at the Radisson:) ).
The only annoyance was that desk clerk, Sabrina. The manager was really very nice. I greeted her with a smile, despite Sabrina's attitude about getting her. A smile and a friendly hello always takes you further than a bad attitde.

Again, sorry about the almost double post (it's not exactly the same because I wrote them 2 different days.) I'll delete the second one so everyone doesn't think I'm nuts :)
