Hi,
We are going to Disneyland for the first time and are staying at Ramada Maingate. The frond desk told me it is only a 10 minute walk to Disneyland.

I was wondering has anyone stayed with them and what is your impression? Also is it really only 10 minutes to walk there?

If you have a favorite hotel let me know, but we are trying to do it budget. We wanted to stay at HOJO but it is booked one of the nights so we would have to change hotels.

We stayed there in Dec. It is only 10 minutes. There is a continental brekky, donuts, danishes, cornflakes, instant oatmeal, milk, juice, coffee, tea, boiled eggs, apples all self-serve on tiny styro plates by the poolside. It was enough for us.

We had a standard room. It was clean, but not needs a bit of loving.

Noisy in the mornings, but we were so tired from DL we didn't mind.

Its a budget hotel, but not bad. Depends on what you are looking for.

A nice pool, but on the cool side.

Any other questions?

we would like to try to come home mid day for naps. Would it be a big deal to walk back? Would you stay there again? We are getting it for 337 for 5 nights.

That's a great price. I probably won't stay there again, because next time we want to try the DL hotels. You can definitely walk back for naps. How old are your kids. Mine are 12,9,6. It really is about 10 minutes.

There's lots of restaurants right beside: Tony Romas, IHOP, Captain Kidd's, Denny's.

For about $67 a night you can't beat it. They also have a pizza place and a coffee shop on the premises.

The Disney Express stops right outside too.

Don't expect the Hilton, and you'll be okay. Its a place to sleep and very cheap and convenient.

Have fun!

Anything else?

We have stayed at the Ramada 3x. We walked back for breaks the last 2 years and it is definately doable. Kids were 4 & 6 the first year. We had been bumped up to a suite the first year with a couch and extra room so spoiled. The beds are a little hard but otherwise it was fine. The price was great compared to the rest of the line of hotels nearby. The pool was nice and the girls enjoyed swimming.

:confused3 The latest review on trip advisor was not good! Anyone have problems with bugs or cockroaches??  I can handle it if it is a little dirty, but NO BUGS!!!!

I have never seen any bugs and we have stayed in 2 different sections. They did redo the rooms over the last 2 years so it looked better than our first year.

No bugs in my room. I was worried before I got there, but I was willing to risk it for the price.

Happily we were pleasantly surprised.

My friends also went a month before we went and didn't see any bugs.

Sometimes even the best place can have a bug or two.

Trip Advisor tends to be very negative. Keep that in mind.

We were there in November and would go back. There are 5 of us though, so next month we are trying Desert Inn and Suites for the extra bed.

Liked the fact it had a fridge and microwave....very cool.

The walk was nice. I did not care much for the breakfast...we did take out from Denny's our second day....but it's not like they advertised it to be any thing more than it was.

We saw no bugs at all. We did not use the pool. We did get put in a smoking room but we called right down to front desk and they moved us immediately.

We stayed at the Best Western Anaheim Inn next door in September...BUT we used the Ramada's coffee shop each morning, and used the gift shop quite a bit.
They had lots of good stuff in the gift shop, and good prices too. We bought snacks, shampoo/conditioner, bandaids and medical tape for my blisters, beer, and a bunch of other little stuff.

The coffee at the coffee bar was great, but the baked goods were awful.

:confused3 Does anyone know if the Disneyland Bus stops in front of the Ramada Maingate or does it stop by the Bestwestern Park place Inn ? just trying to find out how far we have to walk. Thanks!

I can only answer partially because we only took the disneyland express coming home.
When we left, the bus picked us up right in front of Tony Roma's. Tony Roma's is the only building between the Best Western Anaheim Inn (where we stayed) and the Ramada.

It's very close... but I'm not one of the experts, I do believe it makes many stops along Harbor.

:)
