I have these booked for the end of October. I thought the heated pool at the Ramada would nice for the kids and I figured brand new rooms means they'd feel and be clean.
But I read some reviews on trip advisor saying the wifi doesn't work (doesn't matter that much) and that the rooms were dirty.
Anyone stayed there recently? How was it?

I also have a one queen bed and a jr bunk bed booked at Hojos but I think my kids would like to play in a swimming pool rather than splash park and the rooms look kinda dated and dirty feeling in the photos I've seen.

Not sure what to do. I'm leaning towards the Ramamda maingate mostly because of th pool and because the building is brand new.

I am typing from Ramada pool. This is the first time I have been able to get the WiFi working since last night. I have Android andmy husband has iPhone - he has not been able to access wifi at all. The pool is indeed heated. There's a small splash pad type area and a long shallow pool and a small hot tub. All in the parking lot. No towels stocked right now. Pool seems clean.

Do you know hojo has a regular pool in a different area from the little water park?

The
Superior rooms at Ramada may be great. We are in a standard room and it is cramped and they evidently never wipe down the hairdryers or irons or the top rim of the showers. It would pass as clean for those who are not picky.
ETA They just brought warm towels to the pool. I don't trust a hotel that can't purchase enough towels to have a backup stash ready for guests at all times.

We have never stayed at Ramada, but never a problem for Wifi or towels at Hojo's. Pool is heated, (huge, too) and housekeeping does a superb (superior) job at keeping everything very clean and sanitary.

The beds at Hojo's are THE BEST for comfort/relaxation and it is very important to us to feel totally rejuvenated overnight, so we can hit the parks in the morning. :hyper:

I was there last night. Not sure about the superior rooms, but ours was sufficient. Clean, nice finishes. Downers were the wifi sucked and the air conditioner was crazy loud. I thought it was odd that they had renovated rooms that still had the old mounted under the window units. Seems like if they were gonna spend the money, that should be something they should upgrade!

We're local and usually only stay when we don't want to drive. We made the decision a few days ago to stay and the rate was by far the cheapest on Harbour for Mon night. Probably because of the construction they're doing. I thought it was well worth the rate we got, especially for just a place to sleep for one night.

Yeah this is the kind of thing that would make me feel really uncomfortable in a hotel, if they don't wipe down those things they obviously don't actually clean the rooms... Can you recommend another hotel within waking distance that is clean even for super picky people?

Thanks for the replies about Hojos. I didn't know their other pool was heated.

In the last 12 mo the off site places we stayed at, in order of clean:
1. Castle Inn & Suites - The rooms are updated and kept very clean!

2. BWPPI - Housekeeping standards are no longer as tight as in previous years, which is why we decided to try...

3. Ramada Maingate At the Park - the same housekeepers clean the standard rooms and the Superior rooms, so I'm betting that after a few more months of not cleaning them properly, the Superior rooms will look just as shoddy as the standard rooms. Also, if you take an afternoon break don't count on getting your room serviced at all. Our room still wasn't serviced at 3pm when we returned for a break. The housekeeper left a note that she missed us at 4:30 (she didn't knock; we would have left!) and all housekeepers were gone at 5!

Here's the thing though: Ramada is not awful. We may even keep our future reservations there because the rates are extremely cheap and we go often for 3 nights at a time, so even a $30-$50 difference in a room rate adds up quickly. I'll be looking hard for a good rate on a nicer hotel though!

We just stayed at Hojo in a queen + bunk room (not a suite). The queen bed was comfy, but I had an awful sleep because the bunk bed made so much noise each time one of my kids rolled over. On the first night, DH and I both jolted up in the middle of the night because we heard a thump and thought one of the kids fell out of bed. Both kids were still asleep and it was just a noise from the bed. We enjoyed Hojo but will never get that type of room again!

I stayed there 4 times a year every year and always loved it I checked out this morning and moved hotels it was so bad. Maybe when they finish construction it will be okay but I'm done there for the foreseeable future.

Hi Rubygoose, sorry about the noise of the bunk bed. The Queen Junior Bunk room is our newest room and the bunk beds are custom made, so we are working on getting everything just right. Our general manager and head of engineering are aware of noise and are currently working on a solution to fix it. I hope that you stay with us again, and if there is ever anything that needs fixing, please let out Front Desk staff now and we will do the best we can to fix it that day.

HTH,

We actually had the same problem in the regular kids' suite 2 years ago. The top bunk was SO noisy and we all heard anytime my daughter shifted positions. Maybe it's been taken care of by now, but if not, make sure to make the adjustments to those rooms too!

Recently, I haven't hard about noisy Kid Suite bunks, but I will ask that they look at these as well.

Thank you,

I have never stayed at the Ramada so I cannot comment about that.

We stayed in the Hojo Kids suite and I am conflicted on this hotel.

The Good: It is a fairly easy walk and is located close to Mimi's restaurant. One night we just wanted a quick meal and the front desk recommended a pizza place that delivered to the hotel. The kids loved the splash pool. There is a small store located at the hotel that sold small flavored creamers that was great for the in room coffee.

The bad: We visited in October and are heater never worked. We had maintenance visit multiple times and could not fix it. Our kids loved the bunk beds but it was way to loud with one child in the top. We ended up using the fold out coach and rotating who got to sleep in the bunk bed.

I am not sure if hubby or I would book the Hojo again mainly because of the heater not working and the front desk giving us attitude that they would send maintenance again, as if we were inconveniencing them. However, my kids still talk about this room and request that we stay there again.
