Raise Your Voice: Guaranteed Booking Categories at SSR

this is the second time I have heard this type of response and its just mind boggling

you cant plan for yourself to try something new? I really am shocked that people view that as a reason to have room ready--its about the most confusing thing I have ever heard.
\

"Reason to have room ready"? Am I part of the "people view"? Nope. Confused and mind boggled am I that I might be included in surprise being the "reason to have room ready".

I've already stated that it was erroneously thought that I was listing it as a reason against the change. I've clarified, over and over, surprise was simply an aside and was not my "reason to have room ready". Nothing to do with a reason to not change. Just a story of why when I don't get what I want it's okay for me and how it's worked out for me (only). An added story. And that I only had to discuss it ad naseum to simply defend that it wasn't my true reason for wanting the status quo.

Selfishness, Ie. booking later and getting great rooms, was listed as the reason. And that I can see how that is not fair. Having my clarifications ignored is very frustrating for me.

So has anyone written to DVD yet? Aside from the email to . . .(name escapes me at this moment).

Anyone have an example letter to share. I know we don't all want to write the exact same thing, but sometimes some of us have a difficult time getting things started (sometimes me ;) )

yes, yes I understand your view

but this was in repsonse to someone else who definately stated room ready allows them the opportunity to try something new if their request wasnt met

cobbler- I have written one letter to my guide. The only other name I have is Jon Garcia. I will send him a letter in a month or so, since I already emailed and got a response from him.

If it is the case that TPTB monitor these boards, it would look good if more people sported this animated signature picture:

And in the next sentence, I asked if this idea of separate sections ever came up with OKW. I am not an owner at either, I have not been a member long enough to know the history of ownership satisfaction at OKW...although the free passes would certainly tip the scales in favor of satisfaction at OKW. Was that enough to stop any questions about location of villa?

Bobbi:goodvibes

I think that for a lot of people, the big draw for OKW has been the huge rooms and low point charts.

I have no problem paying the same # of points for a BCV or BW View or VWL to guarentee CP with a DTD view... or even CP in general.

not necessarily- for example- at BWV: BWview and preferred view are the same # of points, yet 2 different guaranteed categories. That is what I would like to see at SSR. Even if they did raise points- they would have to lower points elsewhere (in the non-preferred categories) and I would prefer that to the status quo- even though my 1st choice would be simply leaving the points chart alone and allowing guaranteed locations/views on a 1st come 1st served basis.
I am not even sure they would be allowed to do raise/lower points on a given unit like that but if they could, that would be okay with me.

For my purposes- this would work just as well as (or better than) guaranteed categories/view. It gives even less control/flexiblity to DVC as they shuffle people in during check-in than guaranteed locations though so I doubt they would go for it.

Does anyone know where you send comments?

bumping- Wondering if anyone out there is planning on attending the annual meeting? I may work up a confidential web form where if you support this idea- you can sign the form and then we can have something consolidated to show DVC.

I sent my email letter today!! I used a copy of the tjkraz letter, thanks tj!!:cool1:

Unfortunately I will miss the member meeting this year. But I would support it if you did the website.

If you look back you will see in previous posts that I was against more points for "prefered views" at SSR. But the more I think about it, it's not that big a point difference and it would give SSR members a chance at the better views. So I guess I've changed my mind,:rolleyes1 men can do that to, just not as often. Since buying and booking at AKV I like the idea of knowing I'll have a savanna view and it would be nice to be able to pick my view or at least which area I get at SSR. It is disheartening when you book 11 months out and can't get a decent view when you check in. Looks like I've gone over to the dark side, next thing you know I'll want free internet access!;)

I sent one as well.

Here's the reply I got:

So it says they'll respond in 5 days. Wonder who they'd forward it to? Anybody else get a different response?

Howdy,

Great job keeping this issue on the front burner... Hopefully we will achieve some results!! I just added my name to the petition.

Ken

Please Note...

The link to the petition in the first post has been deleted pending review by the DVC moderators.

To my knowledge, it is against DVC Board policy to have a petition drive, but the link can be restored IF the mods and webmaster think it is OK. Please do not repost the link until we have had the opportunity to reach a decision.

Thanks.

OK, Mods have discussed it, based on previous info from Pete.

The discussion of DVC policy is, of course, allowed. And people are certainly free to contact Disney/DVC with their thoughts, but petitions are against board policy.

Thanks again for your patience, and your co-operation. :)

Giving this thread a big BUMP! Just stumbled on it as I was not able to keep up with a lot of the DIS stuff during school finals. Thanks to all who opened the discussion. I am drafting my email now!

I got the standard reply, then:
When you make any reservation requests may be notated. Please know that
requests can not be guaranteed, but the front desk would make every
effort to grant as many requests as possible when making room
assignments.

BUMP!
I hate the canned email reply. It really makes it look like they are not even reading their emails. Boo
