If you had the power to raise or lower the prices at WDW (everything-resorts, food, tickets, souvenirs, etc.), which would you choose & why?

Poll coming:

I say raise 'em. It'll cut down on the crowds. ;)

I say lower 'em.... and I'll go in the off season. ;)

I guess you think people would raise prices to keep out people that could not afford them?

Is that how you would vote?

Lower so I could afford to do more when I finally get there, and maybe I could go again sooner.
I've seen this question turn ugly, and I'm sure it will again.... come on someone tell us how raising it will keep out the undesirable people :rotfl2: ... we need a popcorn:: coversation to keep us amused.

It's not about keeping out the "undesirable people", it's about keeping out some of the 5000 people in line in front of me. All those people are ruining my magic. And I'm special.

I always feel kinda bad. I go to Disneyland every year and so many people I know tell me how lucky I am because they can't afford to go. I would love to see more people able to go! Of course, I'd go in the off season for sure if prices were lowered to avoid the crowds, but I do that anyway!

When it's so crowded you can't enjoy it, is that really money well spent? I'm not trying to keep out "undesirables."

Well I posted and my computer went wacky, maybe it's my punishment for trying to get something started... guess I was in a stinky mood tonight... whatever.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to pay more for something.

The day the prices go so high that people don't pay them is the day Disney drops the prices. Empty park? That would never, ever happen.

...and there are undesirable people in every realm of society. If only money meant that people would behave themselves and mind their own business!!!

What I found odd about the previously mentioned thread was the same people who wanted to lower prices - wanted to raise salaries. Now, of course, if they were in charge of WDW, they could do that, I guess, but as long as it's run by a company (and the Disney Corp is a company!) lower prices WILL NOT equal higher wages for the lowly cast members. (And as it's a company, higher prices probably wouldn't either...)

I vote lower- some of the resort prices are getting a little silly! I can't imagine how people can afford to go without AP or similar discounts!

I don't think that Disney is hurting too bad for money (I did a poll on the attractions page about how much the average trip costs - a whole lot of money), so I would like to see them lower their prices.

If raising them a bit would lead to higher quality (like that of 10-20 years ago), I would be for it. But I don't think it would. I would probably leave them as is.

Sounds like some Republicans here want to raise priced for their own enjoyment and thier wealthy friends instead of looking out for their fellow neighbors that are less fortunate. WDW should be a place for all to enjoy and afford not just the snobby rich that always get what they want when they want:furious: .

I'm a Democrat, and I voted to raise the prices. I have two reasons for my vote. One is to hopefully lessen the crowds which have been obscene lately, and the other is to pump money back into the parks and resorts to bring a higher level of service and higher standard of upkeep back.

I wouldn't want an increase if the latter wasn't going to happen as well though. That extra money should be put towards offering higher wages to attract more service oriented employees, allow housekeepers to have less rooms to clean so they could be spotless, and put money into general upkeep that in a lot of ways has gone downhill lately.

Frankly I'm not worried about some people not getting in due to an increase in cost. A 2-10% increase isn't going to make or break the opportunity to visit WDW in a lifetime. If the trip is going to cost $2000 exclusive of travel costs, $40-200 isn't going to suddenly make the trip an impossibility.

Think about it from that perspective. We're not talking about thousands of dollars. It might mean saving for another year, or taking a shorter trip, but it's not going to shut out anyone who really wants to go and can possibly afford it to begin with. There are some people who will never be able to afford the trip at any cost, and simply put, that's life.

I agree with Anne. Increase the prices, and provide better service and make more capital investments.
