So, I've been prowling through JR6ooo4's SmugMug gallery and discovered his studio set up for his macro shots was foam core on the dining room table with a halogen desk lamp and a Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll frosting container (cleaned, of course), as a light diffuser.

Trapped by the rain and inspired by Mike (JR6ooo4) to try something new, had some cinnamon rolls and tried this set up:

Mike feels the rest of us should be privy to the Cinnamon Roll studio building materials, as well. Your thoughts? Unfortunately, I couldn't quite figure out how to deal with the icing container as the diffuser, so I ate the cinnamon rolls in vain. (Alas.) Apparently vellum, tissue, or even copy paper will work (but not be as tasty).

Oh that is an easy fix. You just need the right size light to match the cup.

I tend to try real hard to be able to do something and once done I can do it I am quickly on to the next... Like years ago I wanted to be able to plug a turntable into my computer to burn CDs of all my old albums. I did three! heheheee

The gold coin is from my grandfather. He had it marked as "800 BC"

Your photos didn't come through - but thanks for the lightbox link - it does look very easy and practical. Clearly my basement is going to start undergoing some type of transformation.

That works - nice photos. I particularly like the ones with the color backdrop - good contrast.

they show up in the thread for me.
I like the stein(sp) and the setup as well.

I also like to see what is in the background of the home shots. My background is a wine rack full of liquor and dry champagne we will probably never drink , heheheheee
