Rainy Day at the Parks?

So we were planning on going to IOA on Saturday but the weather says 70% chance of rain/thunderstorms. My husband says we should just go and deal with the rain because it won't be crowded, but I'm not so sure about being wet and miserable with 2 little kids.

I'm sure Saturdays attract a lot of locals, so I'm guessing they'll stay home with such a high chance of rain- is it enough to impact the crowds though? And if we do decide to suck it up, anyone have any good tips for a rainy day at the park? I'm not a fan of ponchos, but umbrellas don't sound real practical either.

And one more question...do the outside rides shut down for rain or just thunderstorms/lightening?

Thanks!

When there's lightning, yes the outside rides do shut down.

We don't use ponchos either, would rather just get wet. And have done a few times.

You could set off in the morning and see what it's like.......make the most of what you can do and hope the rain stays away :thumbsup2

Don't plan around the weather. I know it looks bad with a high chance of rain/showers tomorrow but there was also a high chance of rain yesterday (Thursday) and we didn't get any rain at the office (off Sand Lake Road) or at my house (near Ocoee). You know by living here it's all a guess.

We will be there to, leaving in the morning. We have our ponchos and Teva's ready. We said if its really bad we hang at the hotel. It's suppose to taper off at night. We are going for Mardi Gras and Nelly.

But like Metro said, don't always count on the forecast but it looks like rain tomorrow.

It's pretty much pitch black outside my office right now...no rain yet but it's on the way. Light rain is spreading throughout the area.

I have been watching it down here too, oh well.

The week that we went to US/IOA several years ago, it was a rainy, rainy week. It was absolutely fabulous. The parks were near empty and we never waited more than 25 minutes for anything. At 6pm, FJ was a walk-on. It only bucketed one day, and we used that as our resort day. We went to WM and rented Red Box movies and stayed in the resort all day. The rest of the time, we just put our ponchos on and moved around.

The rain really does not bother us. We are always at the parks so it's not like we have never been. If it rains too hard we just make it a hotel weekend getaway.
