On our AK day we plan on eating at Rainforest Cafe, I called and I could get my name in at dinner for 5:30 but then I looked at the pic thread. The breakfast looks very good and reasonable compared to dinner..Any suggestions??

We enjoy their lunch/dinner and will be having lunch there next week! Never had the breakfast so I can't comment on it. But the lunch/dinner menu is wonderful.

One thing that turned me off to Rainforest Cafe breakfast was that "no substitutions" was mentioned on the menu. I don't see that with the current one posted on allearsnet.

Breakfast might be a better option when dealing with crowds. Most breakfast goers will be going to Donald's and won't want to take time out for a sit down table service menued breakfast. I've never really been thrilled with Rainforest Cafe as a meal option but that's me.

I've only been to the Rainforest Cafe once, but I wasn't very pleased overall. I was there around 9pm for dinner during the first few days of December, but we still had to wait a good 30 minutes for a table. (That'll teach me to make reservations.) The server was unpleasant and acted as though he was mad at someone he worked with. The meal I had was bland and was something most people could probably make themselves in a matter of 10-15 minutes. The experience as a whole made me feel like I was at a chain restaurant (which I know it is) at another resort all together. I'm not too sure why people love this place so much.

I feel kind of bad for posting this because I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at a WDW restaurant before, but I just thought I'd give my opinion. It just didn't feel like a Disney experience. :sad1:

Was this at the Rainforest in the AK or in DTD? Because the one in the AK (IMHO) is excellent, even if the wait is looooong (do they even take ADRs?). Sorry about your bad experience. If it was in the one in DTD do yourself a favor and try the one in the AK.

Oops, I'm sorry. I wasn't aware there was one at the AK. I was at the one at DTD.

Ignore my review! :lmao:

The AK's breakfast is fantastic - the restaurant is hardly ever crowded and you can use the cool 'hidden' entrance into AK afterwards!

Actually, this is one of our few 'must dos' every trip. There's just something Right about dining with elephants before going on safari. :thumbsup2

1) The AK in DTD doesn't serve breakfast.
2) The RF at AK does serve breakfast, and makes ADR's.
3) I love the breakfast there.
4) What's not to like . . .
. . . Grits and bacon from a rhinoceros?, OK, so that is Imposerous!
. . . How steak from about a hippopotamus and eat it from top to bottomus?
. . . How about stew from an elephant, to take the the park wrapped in cellophant?

NOTE: apologies to Bert Lahr.

Boy, did that take "courage" to post!!!!!:rotfl:

i've never had breakfast at RFC, we've only had dinner there, however, i've heard nothing but great things about the breakfast at RFC at the AK and from pictures i've seen too, it looks delicious.

what is the hidden entrance into AK you are mentioning ??

TIA

The RFC at AK has an outdoor patio area (right hand side when walking in the main door). At the far end of that area is a small turnstyle area that leads into the park itself. In all our trips I can't remember there ever having been a line to get in/out that way.

I got a reservation for dinner on my last name, but she said breakfast is walk up only from 8:30-10:00. We may get there early and have breakfast the kids would just love that, who am I kidding so would I..:rolleyes1

Yes they do take ADR's. we have ours for Dec 19th. you have to wait til the 180 day mark though, you can't do them in the 180+10:santa:

Courage?

What makes a king out of a slave? Courage!
What makes the flag on the mast to wave? Courage!
What makes the elephant charge his tusk in the misty mist, or the dusky dusk? Courage!
What makes the muskrat guard his musk? Courage!
What makes the sphinx the seventh wonder? Courage!
What makes the dawn come up like thunder? Courage!
What makes the Hottentot so hot? Courage!
What puts the "ape" in apricot? Courage!

What have they got that I ain't got?

Even with the shorter crowds at breakfast, i'd have that at the hotel and then do lunch at RFC. A nice cold tea and a great hot stack of mojo bones sure can't be beat while taking a time-out from the park at noon.popcorn::
