Has anyone ever taken a 1 year old to the Rainforest Cafe? If so, did they like it - how did they act?

hmm, I was wondering the same thing... I hope someone has some input on this topic. My son loves zoo animals so I think we would love it, but they do have thunderstorms too if I remember right...

We were planning to take DD who turned 2 during our trip but she was terrified by the animals in the shop and by watching the thunderstorm from the shop.

I'm just glad we didn't order before we found this out!

Guess it probably depends on the child but it does go dark and the thunder is noisy

No personal experence with a one year old but have seen some toddlers get a little scared when we ate there. It is a little loud and the animals seem pretty real and are very close to you. Request a table in a quiter section. WE really like the resturant.

I have and my child loved the animals and atmosphere, however whenever the thunderstorms started she freaked completely out and burst into terrofied screams. I figured out when the storm was starting and grabbed her and rushed out for the last two. A bit disruptive to my dinner. My girls are 3 & 5 now and enjoy it. A one year old... probably not.

When my daughter was little, she was scared to death of the Rainforest Cafe! It's dark and loud, and the thunderstorms were too surprising for her. Now at age 8, she LOVES it!

Hope this helps--every kid is different, and mine as a toddler was pretty sensitive to loud noises.

We ate here when DGD was 3. She was petrified. We had to be moved to the bar area but she was still frightened. I was really shocked that she was afraid because she fears nothing. Every child is different, but maybe you should let her see inside before deciding to eat. Nothing worse then a child so afraid they can't relax and eat.
When we went back to WDW about 6 months later, we passed the restaurant and she loudly stated that it wasn't a very nice place to eat. She definetly didn't like it.

I thought it was loud but my 1 year old was fine. I suggest you sit in the quieter section.

We were there in September with dd (3). She screamed and jumped in my lap when she realized there was a huge snake hanging above us that was moving! I immediately found a waiter and asked to be moved. It took 10 minutes before she detached herself from my arm!

They've had snakes, lizards, you name it at preschool and she thought it was cool but this really freaked her out!!! We're returning in a few weeks and no RF visit for us!

I think it depends on the child my sos's I had no problem my daughter is afraid of loud noies, the unknown and we just would not even have atempted the dinner.

Depends on the child. DS4 was scared from about 18 months to 3 years. Prior to 18 months he could have cared less about anything to do with the restruant (enjoyed or disliked. This is the same child who is afraid of fireworks, unless at a distance (still). DS 21 months, could care less about the animals and the noise. He enjoys it.

If you are going to RFC at DtD, then try the gift shop. If it is scary, asked to eat out on the patio (if you still want to eat there)--not sure if there is a similiar option at AK. Or ask to sit at a distance from any animals.

I agree it depends on your child mostly. But there is so much going on and so much to look at they stay entertained for the most part. Although if they get scared easily the animals moving and making noise occassionaly will freak them out.

That being said, I wouldn't consider my daughter the bravest kid and she loved it. We've been to a number of Rainforest Cafe's and she's liked it every time.

I would try to get a quiet part of RF. My daughter loves animals and such but sitting next to the ape tree freaked her out. Try to sit in an area like by the waterfountain or over by the giftshop. The giftshop would give the kids something to look at if it got to be too much for them.

We took DS to RFC @ DTD when he was almost 3 months old. He was very curious/interested in the animals and rainstorm noises, but mostly he LOVED the fish tank, which we sat right next to. I think a lot will depend on your particular child, whether there is fear, amusement, or just total disinterest. Our ds seems to be afraid of absolutely NOTHING so far, except my MIL's neighbor (who has a mean face)...LOL! :rotfl:
