You? Keep a secret? Well, I can't imagine! :rotfl:

Good Lawd! Austin had a FULL beard his freshman year! I'm impressed! :thumbsup2

He was a cutie pie then. Cutie pie now.

I told you he always looked like an adult. You can sure see that he is older now. Even as a freshman he would go into this store (the buckle) to buy and the college girls would hit on him. Then they would say what college do you go to? Then he'd say uh, I'm in high school. Then of course they think he is a loser and still in high school.

On our last cruise these 21 and older girls struck up conversations with the boys and they would ask where they were from and after they would answer they'd say, oh, do you go to MSU? Goofy Joel said no, we are in high school. Aust said Joel messed them up. They had the perfect opprotunity to score with the girls and they would never have known.

Too funny! So he's been using that beard to his advantage, or trying to, if not for blabbermouth Joel! :rotfl:

I imagine they do! Austin seems to be the loyal kind of fella who makes and keeps good friends.

He is and don't anyone dare put down any of his friends within ear shot. He so doesn't care if they are the popular crowd or not. He has a wide variety of friends.

His old video gaming buddies (probably the smartest boys I've ever known) had piercings everywhere. No tats. But to look at them you just wonder. They were the nicest boys I ever met. They all went to Drury college majoring in physics and stuff like that.

He is varied. I can saya that for him.

That is wonderful that he is so varied in his relationships. makes for a very well rounded man!

Wow! on the pics!!!...too funny about the girls on the cruise; poor Joel didn't know how to handle that...bet he does now!:rotfl:

:cheer2:I can't wait to see the pics of the cheerleaders!!!:cheer2:

I know you nice people have got to be sick of hearing about him. I as his grandma will never tire of talking about him. So when you want me to back off just say so.

Now. Connie. He is such a good kid. Makes one wonder how they can be so fortunate. Joel will be 19 in March but he is so much more immature than Austin. They have been best buddies since 1st grade. It is one of those that they know they can always depend on each other for whatever is needed.

This is a tribute to my oldest grandson who today is 18. I remember him when.

When he was born he spent his first 9 days in intesive care as did his mom. He was born on a Tuesday and they would not let his mom leave her room until the following Saturday. I will never forget that moment when she first held her son. I worked across the street from the hospital so I would go to work until the nurses would call and tell me he needed fed. My bosses were so kind as to let me go to be his caregiver during that time. After work I would run home to shower and gather clothes for the next day to return to the hospital and sleep on the floor beside my daughter and care for her. Of course to be paged in the night to feed Austin.

If you wonder why Sheri and I are so close now you know. As a mom you just wish it would have been you laying there instead of your child.

Day 10. Austin and Sheri get to come home. This was his hospital picture the day he left.

He sure doesn't look like he was ever ill does he?

He was 2 months old when papa started this trick. Yes, scared us all. But he did it with my girls tool

This is his second Christmas. He was 14 months old

This was such a magic age for him. He learned so fast. He walked at 7 months. :scared1: A 7 month old has no idea what they are doing. It was hard.

At his his first birthday he looked at me and said grandma. I'm hooked. Like I wasn't already.

When he was 4 he had to have his front teeth pulled. They decayed due to all of the antibiotics he had as an infant. But I love this picture. We were at a family reunion and Sandi and Sheri went and had this done for me.

Before his 6th birthday we got Mike, Andrea and Andrew in our lives. We have been so blessed. I had this taken while Sheri and Mike were on their honeymoon.

He started Mighty Mights in the 2nd grade. Mike was his coach until Andrew started playing. Then every other year Mike would switch between the boys.

When Don would do it with the girls I would just panic. Eventually I learned that he was not going to drop those babies.

Dinner was good. He chose Lonestar. I got off work early and a big storm came thru so the boys got done with practice early too.

I think my 'babies' are really special too.

Thank you girls for looking.
Ginny

Have a great day Mel. I'm busy myself today. I will post tomorrow the pep rally and game. I hope we get lots of good pix. Don is filming if his camera is working right.

Have a wonderful weekend

Ginny

Good morning Ginny,

Give Austin a belated birthday hug from me. Yesterday was a pretty busy day. I could barely get on the Dis before I was being called to do something here at the office.

I absolutely love your family pictures! Everybody needs to make sure they get lots of pictures together as a family.

We had some bad weather last night too except our's didn't come along until around 11:00 p.m. Lots of thunder, lightening and rain! This morning, you'd never know it because the sun is shining brightly.

Hope you have a great day and a good time at homecoming.

Lisa

P.S. You do know that we expect lots of pictures of homecoming, right?

I'll be out of town tomorrow - doing some time traveling, didn't you know? I'll be visiting 1960, an era before I was born. An era kept alive by DH's dear old aunt. We'll be driving three hours to a small, used-to-be farm on County Rd. 1 where we'll sit on a green plastic (vinyl?) couch in the dark with the only light being from the open porch door. There's a giant's wasp nest still attached to the branch standing in the corner of the room. And poor little Mitchell will be watched with wary eyes lest he touch one of her treasured momentos. Then we will be force fed a lunch of something that was canned who knows how many years ago b/c the garden hasn't been kept in years.

No TV here, and if there were, the signal would be so bad, you couldn't stand to watch more than a few moments. What do you do with a four year old in the country who can't touch anything, watch tv, or run freely to play? Well, you put him outside and take his bike with you! And his portable DVD player, of course.

And guess who we get to be stuck in the car with going both ways? Well, DH's dear sweet mother, of course. I told them to go on and have fun w/out me, but alas, that was not to be my fate! Oh, the horror! :scared1:

So, have fun tonight Ginny and pray for me. :littleangel: I will need it! :rotfl:

Thank you for stopping by Lisa.

I know what you mean by busy. I'm so glad to have made it thru September. Now the boss has me on a new mission that involves a lot of looking thru past records.

Austin will be the pretty blond headed boy at the pep rally today. He said his wig was by far the best of all of them. I just want to know how they found a skirt big enough. We will get lots of pix of that I'm sure.

We have to be at the field by 5:45. Homecoming is at 6:30 with the game to follow. Then Aust will head off for the dance. Which I am glad of. He doesn't like the dances because they won't let more than 3 kids congregate together. I know his coach is a chaperone and he is dancing with the boys. I would love to see thos pix. I bet we never will. It will be their secret.

I love family photos. I don't feel we can ever have enough.

Have a great day and good weekend.

Kinda like me going to Don's reunions. But I did know the food was fresh. I would take some crackers and peanut butter or cheese for just in case.

Poor Mitchell. I hope the 'other adults' don't get on to him. This is one of those things you have to do that makes someone else a little happier. This is when you wish he had a video game also. Take activities that he likes. Crayons, hide and seek books, etc. It is a good thing he is pretty flexible.

Try to have a good time despite your mil.

You are so right - I'm sacrificing here!!!! It's not for me, it's for DH. And ONLY DH. MIL is the one that told me that I had to go, but I'm not doing it for her. DH asked if I wanted to and he understood when I told him I didn't, but that I would go anyway so that he'd at least have his two favorite people with him. In case you were wondering - that would be me and Mitchell. :rotfl:

I am also planning ahead on the food dept. Since there is not a McDonald's or anything similar ANYWHERE in the vicinity, I am preparing a small cooler full of wonderful snacks that Mitchell will love to eat. Thanks for the idea on bringing coloring books. Hadn't thought of that. Perhaps I will print some new Disney coloring pages as a surprise and take them with us.

Oh, how I cannot wait to see Austin dressed as a girl! :rotfl2: That is going to be soooo funny. Why can't they congregate in groups more than three??? What a strange rule. :confused3

I knew you would have the trip all figured out. I hope it is tolerable for you. I know it won't be fun. Just know you are doing it for the right reason and maybe DH will reward you. :flower3:

They started that rule in middle school because small towns think if 3 or more get together there will be trouble and they can't control it. The heck of it is there are about 20 boys and 15 girls that are always together and it is hard to keep them apart. They line dance a lot so they can be sorta together. He is hoping with the fb coaches chaperoning this year they may be more lenient.
