Rain, MapQuest, and Tiny Airplanes... OH MY!!! A March 2010 Trip Report

You're really inspiring me to do a movie night! LOVE  the cupcake! :)

Thank you so much! I hope you do decide to do one... they've been so much fun for us so far. I can't wait to be able to make it more elaborate when Ashlyn is old enough to really care, you know? :cutie:

I cannot believe I missed the start of your TR--I missed the notification of new posts on your PTR. Oh well, I am here now!! Hello!! :wave2:

I love the first picture of Ashlyn with your dad! What a great photo and how precious they met for the first time on a Disney vacation! :yay:

We use Google Maps now for anything when we are trying to map out a route. We have a GPS we use in the actual car, but I find Google is pretty reliable.

EP: we love it! The F&G festival, to me, is just amazing. It is definitely want to go during that time again. :goodvibes: TFS all the beautiful photos of it! Cute pearl pendant! Do you mind we asking how much the setting is? I want to do it too--already told DH I am and he said fine. I am envisioning a ring at the moment. I love Reisling wine too. I will have to write the name down to see if I can find it around here. I hope we have good luck meeting Marie and Mary Poppins. Marie is in France and Mary's in Great Britian correct?

AK: Love the Tree of Life. I want to try to spend some time looking at the details on our trip. Love the blowing kisses at Tigger! So cute. Did you do the photopass cd? (I see the photopass photographer so I am curious to know). I want to do pin trading with my DD on this next trip. I think it would be a lot of fun. I would love to know a reputable seller of eBay. I found a few but I always like to know someone with experience if possible.

MK: Your Dad's reaction to the Castle sounds priceless! Great pictures with the princesses! The princesses are back at dinner for awhile at CRT so I think it is a different set up than breakfast and lunch. Too cute they gave the adults the wand and swords too. :goodvibes:

:yay: for Mousekeeping up the game!! How cute!

cute movie night! I love Bakerella. Her cakeball truffles are the best--a huge hit with anyone who have tried them. DD loves balloons too--she is just fascinated by them. I know they say they should not have them until around five or some age like that because of the choking hazard but we are just careful with them. I will have to do the cUPcakes for our movie night when we get around to it! Thanks for showing them!!

Come during my week!! We could do a DIS Meet!!! We are there from September 11th-18th. :goodvibes: ;)

Looking forward to the next batch of updates. :surfweb:

Too cute. You're so creative and such a sweet mommy to Ashlyn. She's lucky! ;)

Awww, thank you! You are so sweet to say that. :)

It really was incredible. :goodvibes

Okay, that's 2 votes, I think, for Google Maps. I'll have to try them out next time. Thanks!

The setting was $50 or something like that. It was more expensive than I wanted, but we both really loved it so Aaron wanted to spoil me. :)

There are a lot of wines I do not like anymore. We used to go to wine tastings and stuff (we've never been red wine drinkers - just the sweeter stuff) before we ever moved to Cuba and got pregnant. Well, since I didn't drink anything alcoholic for almost 2 years (almost 9 months of pregnancy then 1 year of breastfeeding) I just didn't like it anymore. We don't have a great wine selection here to try, though. But that Reisling I would definitely buy to have a glass with a nice meal! Our absolute favorite when we were in Virginia was Eifel Pheiffer (I'm sure I'm butchering the spelling).

Yep, Marie is in France and I'm sure Mary's in Great Britain.

We mainly just took our own pictures. We had a few photopass pictures taken but we aren't ordering the CD. We might pick one or two really good ones, but we just didn't get many taken. Plus, we have ones we took that are the same shot as what the photopass photographers took. I would love to take advantage of the photopass CD during our next long trip and just hit all the photopass locations! I think it would be so fun. :) I haven't heard any reputable sellers yet (though there is a thread on DIS somewhere about good and bad Ebay sellers) but I'll let you know if I hear anything. ;)

My favorite parts of the trip (besides seeing my dad and him meeting Ashlyn, of course!) were his reactions to the Magic Kingdom. :goodvibes I will cherish that forever.

:yay: for Mousekeeping up the game!! How cute!

Yep, we are always really careful with the balloons, too. We even put them up at night to where the cat can't get to them because I don't want her popping them and trying to eat them. :cat: The cUPcakes were fun to make and Bakerella put up frog cake pops for Princess and the Frog. I had to order green candy melts which is why we didn't do that movie this last Saturday!

Actually, Aaron and I were talking about the September trip a little bit when he came home for lunch today and, assuming his family is coming down and we're going to go, we're planning for being there the 15th through the 17th with being in the Magic Kingdom on the 16th!!! How cool would that be to run into each other? :) I'm trying to think if I want to do another PTR and TR for just a day at the park... :confused3

Well, here we are at our last day at Disney. :sad1: Writing this TR has really extended the Disney magic far past our trip, so thank you all for joining me! :grouphug:

It was supposed to rain this day (and goodness, it did!) so we all got our jackets (and Ashlyn had a little pink raincoat... she looked so cute with her hood on!). Before we left, I put Towel Puppy at the end of our bed, facing the TV, with the remote in front of him and left the TV on like he was flipping through the channels.

IMG_4548.jpg

The Mousekeeper kept him at the foot of the bed next to the remote so either she didn't know where to put him next or she liked him there.

Thursday morning we headed to the Magic Kingdom for our last, full day in the parks (little did we know it wouldn't quite be such a full day). First thing we did was head over to the Harmony Barber Shop to get Ashlyn her 1st haircut!!!! :scared1: I was really iffy on doing this, mainly because it means my baby is growing up, but right before we left for our trip she started moving her hair out of her face on her own. So I knew it was going to be best to go ahead and get her some bangs or something so she didn't have to worry about it anymore.

IMG_4551.jpg

The lady who cut her hair was nice. Ashlyn FREAKED out during the whole thing and after the hair cut was done, the barber kept trying to put a mirror in front of Ashlyn and just wouldn't stop so we kinda had to take Ashlyn away from the chair. I felt bad, I know she was just being nice, but I needed to get Ashlyn into a more open area where she wasn't crowded by a bunch of people and she could calm down. She did remain really calm and patient while Ashlyn was screaming her head off, so I really appreciated that.

I think, when her hair is not tucked behind her ears, she looks a little like Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, but that's okay. :rotfl: When her hair is in pig tails, though, she reminds me 100% of Boo from Monster's Inc. (This pic was taken the day after we got home.)

IMG_4623-1.jpg

I think that pout is so cute!!! But here is her happy face. :)

IMG_4625-1.jpg

Okay, this is kinda sad, but I thought it was a little funny. Before the hair cut, the barber put a bunch of stickers on Ashlyn's pants to try and keep her occupied. I really thought it would work because Ashlyn loves stickers, but nope... I still think if it was a trim in the back she'd be fine, but since it was her bangs it was hard to distract her. Anyway, a little later that morning a very nice lady who was working at a gift shop by Snow White's Scary Adventures (is it called that at WDW? I can't seem to remember and I know that's what it's called at DL. :rotfl:) tried to give Ashlyn a very cute Snow White sticker. Ashlyn FLIPPED! I felt so bad and had to explain to the lady that she had just gotten her hair cut so she was associating stickers with that experience. I felt bad for Ashlyn, too, but I really couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. Please don't think badly of me!!

We took Ashlyn to ride Dumbo after that. Last trip we took her on the Magic Carpets in Adventureland, but she had never been on Dumbo. It was only a 10 minute wait so we hopped on.

IMG_4559.jpg

She had SO much fun! Throughout the ride she would go "WOOOOO!!!!" :rotfl: It was the cutest thing in the world. She did that during the turbulence on the planes, too. Future roller coaster junkie? :confused3 I'd say this was her favorite ride this trip.

We stopped by and got some food at Scuttle's Landing and sat while we kinda planned what to do next. We decided to head over to Toontown just to peek in and see how long the line to see the Fairies was. If it was short, we'd get in line and if not, we'd just go through Tomorrowland. On our way over, we saw that it was just about a 10 minute wait for Winnie the Pooh so we rode that. Then we went and saw that the Fairies line was an hour long, so we decided to pass that by. We will have to wait in plenty of long lines when Ashlyn is old enough to say what she wants to do. :lmao:

We headed through Tomorrowland and I really wanted to ride Buzz Lightyear. I've always heard such good things and had never been on it. The line was pretty long, though, so we grabbed some FP's and went for a little ride on the TTA. We all enjoyed it. When it first speeds up just a little bit, Ashlyn went "WOOOO!!!!" again. :goodvibes Shortly after we got off of that it was time for our FP's. Buzz was a very fun ride! I think I only got 360,000 points, but I would go on it again in a second. I got in with my dad and Aaron got in with Ashlyn. I think she enjoyed it. We looked at the pictures at the end and my dad and I looked so serious like we were concentrating super hard and you can't even see Ashlyn in the car with Aaron. We kept asking if he had thrown her to the aliens. :rotfl2:

After Buzz we walked back towards Fantasyland to eat at Friar's Nook. Right around the corner was Storytime with Belle and it was going to start soon, so we got a seat.

IMG_4589.jpg

It was the cutest show!! I loved it. I really want to see it again when Ashlyn is older.

IMG_4590.jpg

Soon after this, Ashlyn fell asleep, so we walked around a little bit. We found out when Princess Tiana would be out and then just walked around. Ashlyn was still sleeping when it came time to see Tiana, but we went anyway. We figured she would either wake up before we got up to her or we would get a cute picture of Tiana kissing her or something. But the rain started pouring down and the thunder started rolling, so it was canceled. One family was UNhappy and started screaming at the guy who had to tell us it was canceled. I really wanted to get our picture taken with Tiana (it was near the top of my must-do list) but we'll get it next time. princess:

At this point we decided we should just head home. We really didn't want to, but we were not going to take the chance Ashlyn getting sick. But on our way out, we had to hit Pirates because that was a must-do on everyone's list. pirate: Ashlyn loved this ride last time, but she was still napping and slept through the entire thing!!!! We'll just have to go on again next trip. Darn. ;)

The rest of the day we relaxed, grabbed some dinner at Pop, perused the gift shop, and just sat in the hotel room and talked. It was a nice way to end our trip together. We all went to bed early because we all had to head out very early, especially my dad. It was extremely hard to say goodbye to him, but we'll see him again soon. :)

I'm sad that my TR is over!!! It makes me want to do a PTR and a TR for our September trip if it works out, but would it be silly to do it for a one-day-in-the-park trip? :confused3 What do you all think?

I love Asyln's new look:love: ss she reacted the way she did but trust me she will come to love getting her her done by a stylist--think prom:rotfl:
and yes i think you have a future thrill seeker on your hands.
Love the pic where her hair is in pigtails so cute and yes she does look like Boo.
Oh and about the pretrip report--lets just say any disney trip be it short or long deserves a pre-trip report :thumbsup2
Looking forward to upcomming pretrip report

No, NOT thinking about prom! :rotfl: I know what you mean, though. We want to take her to BBB when she's old enough, assuming she's still going to be the girly girl she is right now. princess:

Okay then, I'll start a new PTR soon because not even 30 minutes ago my DMIL sent me a message on Windows Live Messenger saying that her and my DFIL went for a walk tonight to build up their stamina for WDW. :cool1: So they are definitely coming with us and we'll be going Sept. 15-17! The planning starts tomorrow! I'll let you all know the link to my new PTR when I start it. :)

So cute! We wanted to get Zachary's 1st haircut at Disney but the line was out the door. It's so cool!

I had read on here about how long the lines can get so we went as soon as we entered the park. There was one person waiting in front of us and a couple of people came in shortly after us. We were lucky to be able to get there at a good, slower time!

Ashlyn's haircut is so cute! Too bad she freaked out. We're hoping to convince DS to get a haircut in September but he freaks out like that if we mention it. He's really attached to his curls...but his hair is going to be SO long by september...it's already really long! We're hoping if we just get a trim in the back he won't be able to tell as much. Maybe. Hopefully!

Sounds like you had fun on your last day! I want to catch storytime with Belle, it sounds really cute. And I'm glad you rode Dumbo...it does sound like Ashlyn is going to be a rollercoaster junkie! Now she just has to grow to 40 inches!

Okay, hopping over to your PTR now!

The first haircut is definitely hard! I do wish I could have prepared Ashlyn for it better, but at least it's done and she can see! :cutie: Maybe a trim in the back would be a good start for your DS! They'll save all his little curls (along with some pixie dust!) in a paper towel or something and close it up with a Mickey sticker so you can save it. We didn't even have to ask. Good luck!!

Ashlyn's haircut is so cute! You're right, in pigtails she does look like Boo, LOL. :sulley:

Too bad you got rained on but at least you got some fun things in before hand- especially Dumbo! :dumbo:

Seems like a magical trip. :-)

I'm heading over to your new PTR. :woohoo:

great job!
the haircut is adorable!
can't wait to see how the expierience for Ashlyn changes in the fall when she is a bit older.

Thanks guys! Yep, I'm really looking forward to how Ashlyn will react differently to everything. :goodvibes

Thanks for information on the pearl setting--I really think this will be a fun thing for me to do while there.

:( sorry Ashlyn was a little freaked by the haircut! My DD is 3 1/2 and still does not like to get her hair cut very much even still today. She is finally letting me do her hair more often :thumbsup2: She looks absolutely adorable with it down or in pigtails. :goodvibes:

The storytime with Belle sounds like it would be a cute thing to do with my DD if we get the opportunity. It looks like the girls who participated look like they had a good time. I hope we get to meet Tiana too. DD is going crazy over her since we saw the movie at the beginning of the month at the theater.

I am so sad your TR is over but i will be catching up on your PTR next! :surfweb:

Loved reading your trip report. Ashlyn is precious - what a princess!!princess:

Honestly though I don't know if I could ever fly on one of those little bitty planes. :scared:

I just love Pop Century. We stayed there twice and plan on staying there on our next trip (whenever it is). :confused3
