Rain, MapQuest, and Tiny Airplanes... OH MY!!! A March 2010 Trip Report

AWW the look on Aslyn's face when she is looking at Mary Poppins is priceless.
glad ya'll are having fun.

That photo of your dd with Mary Poppins is really cute.

She is just looking at MP with fascination.

Great updates Christina! I love the Flower and Garden pics- so cool! Can't wait to read more. :)

Love the update!

Marie is one of our favorite characters. Love the pearl setting that you chose. So pretty!

Looking forward to more!

Great update! It's nice that you could enjoy WS while Ashlyn took a nap. And your new pearls are gorgeous!!!

Amanda

Thank you! We LOVED watching WDW through Ashlyn's eyes, but her nap times were awful nice, too! :rotfl:

Joining in!! Your daughter is just precious!!! :goodvibes

Yay! Welcome! And thank you.

That's definitely one of my favorite character pictures I have so far. There were a lot of good ones this trip because she loves to blow kisses so we have a few of her blowing kisses to the characters.

I totally didn't realize that you had started your TR!
Great updates! I love the towel puppy(:

Thanks! Glad you made it over! :flower3:

Thank you so much! Once Ashlyn takes a nap I am going to upload some more pictures to Photobucket and I'll post an update this evening.

Thank you! I loved Marie. She was great, too. With one of the kids in front of us she played chase around the pillar. It was really cute. :goodvibes

Aaron sounds like a very sweet and loving husband! :goodvibes I love your pearl and necklace. It could go with just about anything. ((perfect))

Did you see all those kidcot places in world showcase? I didn't know anything about it until we were 1/2 way through. Bet Ashlyn would have loved to color the masks. Reya loved it. Just wish I knew about it before we got to Germany.

I love Rainforest Cafe'.... it's pricey, but yummy!:goodvibes

I sure like him. :) Neither one of us is perfect, but we're perfect for each other.

I did see those kidcot places in WS and thought they were so cool! Ashlyn was sleeping through some of them and she'd probably spend all our time coloring because she will FLIP OUT if we make her stop before she's done. :lmao: It's something I really want to do next time we go, though. I think she'd love it. I'm really glad that Reya enjoyed it! I loved seeing the pictures. :)

Wednesday morning (March 10th), after some breakfast we picked up the night before from the store in Pop, I put Towel Puppy at the foot of my dad's bed on top of the Mousekeeping envelope. I was hoping that the Mousekeeper would keep up the game. :) I'm silly like that. Every day as we walked up to our room I would say "Where do you think Towel Puppy is today?" Yeah... I think I was the only one who cared. :lmao:

Anyway, we spent the first half of the day at Animal Kingdom.

You can see a million pictures of the Tree of Life but it's another thing to see it in person!

None of us had been there so it was completely new to everyone. The only definite thing we wanted to do was Kilamanjaro Safari. Well, I really wanted to do Everest, but we ended up not doing any big rides that we would have to do baby swap on. This trip was about being with my dad so we just did rides and stuff where we could stick together (well, you know, if we had to split between two vehicles we didn't complain ;) ). So when we got there we grabbed some FP's for KS and went down some of the exploration trails.

IMG_4148.jpg

Just a short while later, our FP time arrived so we headed over.

Ashlyn does a really good elephant sound, bringing her arm up like a trunk and everything. :cloud9:

IMG_4280.jpg

During the ride Ashlyn started telling us she was hungry. So afterwards we went over to Pizzafari. My dad only ordered some breadsticks (he doesn't always eat as well as he could since my mom passed - but he's always been like that if he was out of town or something - my mom was always the one to make him eat something besides chili dogs and turkey sandwiches :rotfl:) while Aaron, Ashlyn, and I shared some pizza and a chocolate chip cookie. This was the first time that Ashlyn took a bite of pizza and liked it! When we came back home after our trip she's been eating a few more things she wouldn't before, so that is always good... until the past couple of days she doesn't want to eat much besides her chicken noodle soup (Disney princess shaped... of course), yogurt, bananas, etc since she's getting in AT LEAST 4 teeth at one time. :scared1: Poor girl. But I'm getting off topic... We also took a look at a few hidden Mickeys in the restaurant. :woohoo:

After lunch we headed over to see the tigers. Ashlyn does a really good growl and kinda scratches her belly for a tiger (well, for bears and lions, too, but that's okay).

I like this one because Aaron took it just in time for him to be sticking out his tongue.

IMG_4347.jpg

We had dinner reservations over at the Magic Kingdom at 4:25 pm, so we started heading toward the front. Ashlyn was napping and we were just taking our time. Before we left, Aaron saw that Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger were going to be doing meet and greets soon! So we got in line, even though Ashlyn was sleeping. I kept joking, asking if I could wake her up. :rotfl2: Trust me, I would NEVER do that. No one would be happy if I did that. :rotfl: But she did wake up with one family ahead of us. We let the family behind us go ahead, though, because we wanted her to be able to wake up a bit more before facing giant animals.

IMG_4386.jpg

She seemed scared of Eeyore. :confused3 He's one of my favorites! Oh well. She kept reaching for Aaron while he was taking pictures. :( Poor thing. She was okay with Pooh and Tigger, though.

IMG_4400.jpg

She even blew Tigger kisses!

Now, I've wanted to get involved with Pin Trading for awhile. Even the day before, while we were in Epcot, I was telling my dad about it. So Aaron decided to get me really hooked, I mean started, and bought me a lanyard and a pin.

IMG_4631-1.jpg

That's right... I got a Magic Kingdom pin at Animal Kingdom. :lmao: I want to get some cheaper pins (from Ebay, maybe?) to put on a different lanyard to trade and keep that one (and others he got me later on) for my collection. I have some questions for you guys. I saw a few kids trading with CM's but no adults. Have you seen any adults trading? Do you have any favorite places/Ebay sellers to get cheap(er) Disney pins for trading?

Tomorrow I'll post about the second half of our day at... the MK!! :goodvibes

Sounds like a nice day at AK! I've always wondered about the pins but don't know much...

Amanda

I've seen lots of adults trading. But I do know there are some CM's that are only allowed to trade with children. If I'm correct it's the CM's that wear the blue lanyards?

I'll look up the seller(s) I've bought from before. I've have great experiences at buying pins on Ebay.

Great pictures with the characters. I just love Ashlyns hair.

Too bad you missed Everest.... LOVE that ride.

Great update! You got some really close up animal pics- looked like you could reach out and touch them!!

looks fun so far! your dd is adorable! She seems to be doing so well with the characters. I'm curious to see how she does with the rest of the trip.
Adn what a great place for your dad to meet her!

Great pic of the tiger with his tounge out:)
We are not into pintrading so i don't know much about it either.
oh and i love the idea with putting it in a different place
we will have to try it-that is if we get a towel animal.

I've looked it up a little bit, but not too much yet. It looks like we'll be going again this year so I might just keep my eyes open, ask some CM's questions about it at pin trading shops, etc. Maybe trade a pin or two. :)

You know, I did read about certain colored lanyards mean that they only trade with children, but I can't remember which color exactly, either. Green, teal, blue... something like that. :) That would be wonderful to hear which sellers you had good experiences with on Ebay. Thank you! I just saw last night that there is thread on a different part of DIS that talks about different Ebay sellers, too.

Well, Ashlyn's hair didn't look like that for too much longer, but I'll get into that later on. ;)

I'm definitely going to ride Everest one of these days. Sounds too fun not to!!

Great update! You got some really close up animal pics- looked like you could reach out and touch them!!

Some really were super close. It was really cool! Ashlyn was too distracted by just everything going on to really focus on the animals, but I sure had a blast!

Adn what a great place for your dad to meet her!

Thank you so much! She pretty much reacts to all the characters that way, but she does interact a little bit more with the princesses. But that's in the next update.

Great pic of the tiger with his tounge out:)

Thank you! I had a lot of fun thinking of new places to put the towel animal and guessing where it was when we got back. I'm pretty sure my dad and Aaron thought I was crazy, but that's okay. :rotfl: I had a blast with it. :)

So after we left Animal Kingdom, we took the bus over to the Wilderness Lodge because we really wanted to take a boat over to the Magic Kingdom. My Aunt Karen had told us that it was just really cool to see the castle from so far away. So we thought, why not?

IMG_4422.jpg

IMG_4424.jpg

It was pretty cool. Walking through the Wilderness Lodge made us want to stay there, though.

IMG_4427.jpg

♥sigh♥ I know you all know this, but there is just something about seeing the castle for the first time that just takes your breath away.

IMG_4440.jpg

Okay, so I know I said this, but my dad has never been to Florida. Well, we went right over the border for a couple of hours with my mom and dad the day after Aaron and I got married. We got married just outside of his hometown of Daleville, Alabama (we actually got married in Enterprise) which is not far from the Florida border at all. Anyway, this was my dad's first time for more than 2 or 3 hours! He's been to Disneyland a million and one times, though. I told him how much bigger Cinderella's Castle is, but it's one thing to know it and another to see it.

IMG_4438.jpg

It was SO COOL to see his reaction when we first walked down Main Street. :goodvibes I wanted to cry! He was just taken back by how much bigger it was. I think he really enjoyed comparing everything to Disneyland and just seeing all the differences, big and small. Again, :goodvibes

One of the first things we did was head over to Peter Pan's Flight. This is one of my dad's all-time favorite rides, if not absolutely #1. The line was fairly long so we went ahead and grabbed some FP's and wandered around Fantasyland for a little bit.

This lady was just blowing bubbles for the kids, which I thought was really cool! I took Ashlyn over and, though she was a bit shy, she liked watching the bubbles and the bigger kids running after them.

IMG_4469.jpg

Here is Ashlyn trying to pull the sword from the stone. It didn't budge. I guess she's meant to be a princess and not the King of England! :rotfl:

IMG_4480.jpg

The wait for It's A Small World was only 10 minutes so we hopped in line. It was definitely less time. This was always one of my mom's favorites so it holds a very special place in my heart. It is also one of Ashlyn's favorites right now! She really gets a kick out of the song and just everything going on.

After we got off, it was close to the time for our dinner reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table!!! This was a complete surprise to my dad. I was so excited and it was really hard not to let the cat out of the bag. :tigger: As we walked towards the castle I told my dad that I wanted to show him the mosaics inside the walkway. Well, I did, but we did it the next day. ;) Anyway, it was blocked off because they were getting ready for a show in front of the castle so my cover was pretty much blown! My dad's a smart guy so he knew something was up. Aaron kept up a slightly faster pace so he could sneak up and check us in for our reservation. I really didn't know what to say so I just said "Well, let's park the stroller anyway and look around." My dad said "we're not having dinner in there, are we?" I smiled and said "of course we are!" He gave me a look like "this is way too expensive" and I just told him it was already paid for so we can't back out now. :lmao: He was really excited, he just felt bad that we spent so much money on him. Whatever, TOTALLY worth it. We love it there and knew he would, too.

IMG_4508.jpg

I love Jaq and Gus Gus watching over Cindy.

IMG_4506.jpg

I don't want to make this one post too long, so up next in the next few minutes... more princesses!!! princess:
