Can anyone give me some ideas as to whats "in" for rain boots for college age girls, brand, style, ?????
Thanks!

I was thinking "Hunter" as well-they come in at least 2 heights and have a variety of colors- from the classic black to pink, coral, yellow, green, blue...

My favorite are a pair of Burberry which are plaid-but if you're not preppy they might not be as appreciated (here where I live I get a compliment every single time I wear them-but we're a pretty conservative Southern town).

I taught on a college campus in Oregon up until 2006, still am on campus a lot. Still rains a lot.

here are a couple of articles that you can read and see if you agree or not...the first is a hoot, written by a student at Sam Houston University who sort of objects to it all, but it gives boot names/brands.

Her essential point is that rain boots are unsafe on campus....Have to agree somewhat. She also says A LOT of students diss them...

The second one is a few years old, but from what I have seen the observations are still the same....

One thing, a lot of the females just wear a pair of cheap PVC or Rubber boots from a local discount store -- usually a pink color or one decorated with lady bugs or something else somewhat whimsical. Those boots cost about $20.....and I see a lot of them....of course, see the hunter's etal, also.

If you have a DSW around, we were in there last week and ours had a ton of rain boot options. I live in a college town. Rain boots are big here with the college, high school, and 20 somethings, but they must be the fancy patterned type or the ones made to look like regular boots or shoes. I'm sure it depends on your area of the country though.

Hunter is big, but the "in" ones usually run $90 to $150. We picked up some cute Ralph Lauren ones at DSW for $49. If you want to go the cheap route, the college girls around here head to Target if they aren't going more upscale.
