Okay, some of you really love Disneyland in the rain! Aren't you cold and miserable? What do you have to stay dry?

Last time I was there, I had boots for my son and he was in a poncho. It covered him to the ground, so he was pretty dry. I had an umbrella and poncho. I put ziplock bags over my sock before I put them in my shoes and that worked nicely until one of the bags got a hole. But my poncho only went to my knees, so the bottom of my jeans were soaked. The stroller and all our stuff was soaked. My DH's glasses kept getting rain spots, so he was annoyed. Needless to say, we didn't last long at the park before we headed back to the hotel.

I just happened upon adult womens rain boots at Target for $5! :cool2: But I'm wondering...could I walk all day in these? Do I put them in a locker if the forecast is for rain? :confused3

I totally use ponchos when I'm in the parks for the whole day. But like you said, I hate how it doesn't cover the pants very well.
I don't have a sock problem anymore after getting boots that look like Uggs, but Drymax socks work really well. If you get the socks wet, you can't feel it and your feet stay dry. I got them a couple years ago at the LA Marathon Fitness Expo, but you can easily find them online. I always hated getting my socks wet and had to get a pair of large Mickey socks once.

I have a "rain suit" which is nice unless it's hot out. But if it's chilly it's great. You just put the jacket on and put the pants over your clothes and you stay super dry. I have a pair of rain boots but they aren't comfortable to walk around in for any length of time.

If the forecast looks like rain on our January trip, I'll be putting my rain gear in a locker for the day.

Of course, that stuff is only for when it's pouring our. I don't do that for a light rain.

I have to say I am one of those who does NOT love Disneyland in the rain. I don't mind COLD - it can drop down to 20 degrees and I would be happy because I will just bundle up and cover my ears and hands. Even very light rain is manageable. But when it is really raining hard, I am miserable. I realize that the corwds drop way down and that is nice, but I am usually too annoyed to care at that point. When we went last year on the first weekend the Halloween stuff came up, the weather forecast was unclear as to whether or not it would rain during the day. We thought we would be able to get our daytime activities out of the way and then when we got back to the hotel it would pour rain at night. Not so. It POURED rain intermittently throughout the day, and when it was not raining heavily, it was hot and I got sunburnt. I had my rain jacket and umbrella in the hotel room because it was not raining when we left the hotel in the morning, so I got soaked. We ran into the Emporium to get ponchos and the CM gave us child-sized ponchos that barely covered us at all. I also wear glasses (I hate contact lenses) so my glasses were totally streaked and I couldn't see. I couldn't take any photos because my camera would get waterlogged, and my friends were too soaked to want to pose for anything. And then, as soon as the rain stopped, it was 80 degrees and I got burnt. I was very irritated the whole time and I couldn't relax and enjoy myself. I prefer cold - no heat - but no rain, at least not heavy rain. I know I am in the minority, though - most of the people on DISboards love Disneyland in the rain.

I for one do not mind rain and am always prepared by having a couple of those $1 ponchos in the bottom of my purse. As far as the stroller goes, when we bought our stroller, I also bought one of those stroller rain cover things that covers the whole stroller to keep it and everything inside dry, it is GREAT! On occasion when we have rented a stroller in the rain, I just cover it with a couple of the ponchos. I don't have rain pants, but that is a great idea and I will invest in one of those rainsuits as I can't stand having wet pants. Thanks for the tip on the socks. :thumbsup2

I just carry my ponchos around and we are good to go. I love DL in the rain, it's never too cold (at least for me) unless I'm absolutely drenched, and then I'm not cold I just catch pnuemonia later. LOL Seriously though, I love it and ponchos are great, in fact I keep my poncho packed in my suitcase, just in case. :)

Haven't experienced it yet myself, but I read someone on here suggesting that as well as your ponchos, to take an umbrella, because she said that rain pounding on your poncho hood gets old fast. But with the umbrella, you feel more protected from the rain hitting you directly.

My biggest peeve is soaked shoes/wet socks. I'd rather wear flip flops in the rain than have wet tennies. Wet feet in flip flops are way more comfy than wet feet inside wet socks inside wet shoes! LOL

Rain? At Disneyland? What's this rain thing you speak of? :confused3

Sorry.... had to. :wizard: I love Disneyland because it so rarely DOES rain. When are you going that you are anticipating rain?

It rained last Super Bowel Sunday and it was BUSY!!! This is how we staied dry. :) The stroller cover was nice too at night when it got windy.

It's rained probably 3-4 times over the years (we mostly go in December).

The umbrella with the poncho is a must. It was pouring and WINDY in December last year, so my poncho hood wouldn't even stay on my head. Plus the rain was pouring off the front of it onto my uncovered face, pants, and shoes!

My stroller is HUGE and I couldn't find a rain cover. Maybe I'll look online before I go this year. I used a poncho, but of course it was flying off in the wind.

The rain pants and socks are great ideas. Where do you find rain suits? Are they cheap like the ponchos? Obviously, there isn't much rain where I'm from! ;)

Went twice last Jan. and it rained both times. Not for super long periods of time but the first time it was pouring when we got off of Nemo (NO line) and we had to walk back to the HoJo. We did and we hung our clothes in the bathroom to dry, the girls took warm showers and apparently I should have as well. I got pnuemonia the following week and was out of work the whole time. :( It didn't rain in December and we didn't go in Feb so it seemed like late Dec thru Jan. was the rainy season. lol

OMG! JPeriod, it does not sound like you were in just rain, it sounded like a storm! that was some helacious rain!
I like the rain, have not been to Dl while Anaheim has experienced it. I don't like down pours if I am in them, or have to drive, otherwise, they are just fine ;) he he! seriously. I do like to be in a nice light rain, however, if it is going to be pretty much a constant, and I am to be outside, or outdoors just often enough, then I need my umbrella, the problem with those is that you have to carry the thing, and then worry about forgetting it somewhere, which has not happened to me yet...........

Well, even the lighter rains -- it was off and on throughout the day and so our shoes and pants were soaked. I remember standing in line for an hour for an indoor seat at Cafe Orleans 10 years ago and eating a stew bread bowl. It was the best meal I have ever had -- we were that wet and cold!! I still get a bread bowl at the French Market every year since! They also cancelled the parade and my DH was so sad -- only saw Mickey's Rainy Day Cavelcade -- which was a tease. We have a ton of photos in our yellow mickey ponchos, thank goodness we can laugh now!

Yes, laughing is most definitely a good thing :) he he! for me, sometimes, it is either that, or going nuts, ;) seriously!

I saw some recently at our local Home Depot :) they were in the tool section near the back. My DH was talking about getting a set for riding his motorcycle. :confused3 In case it rains when he has it at work. I think they were about 15-20 dollars.

Those ARE cute rainboots!! How comfy were they?

They were okay. The problem was they were pretty wide on my legs, so when I walk, they'd rub on my calf.

Unfortunately, they don't have the stew in a bread bowl there anymore.

We were at Disneyland when it was pouring all day long last year. By the time we got through the gates and on main street to buy ponchos, our clothes were already soaked through.
