Im in WDW right now and it has been so rainy today. I can usually hang and just take it as it comes, but for some reason today, it's really taken all of my energy. It's been cloudy and dreary and non-stop rain since about noon-ish. They cancelled the afternoon parade and instead rolled out a "rainy day cavalcade" which is something I've never seen before -- and it was quite a sad little display!

Anyway, what do you do when it rains all day? Are there certain rides you head for? Some parks better than others for you in the rain?

I'm hoping for nicer weather tomorrow!

Epcot is my rainy day park choice.

It's not so bad when it's hot and rainy. But cold and rainy is a different story.

I never heard of rainy day cavalcade. What is it?

I always hit the indoor rides and shows, and for us it seems MK has more cover. Philharmagic, Small World, Presidents are all covered, People Mover, Laugh Floor, Country Bears, River Boat, etc.
Then all the shops to wander, and lots of indoor quick service places- Harbor House and Pinocchio's are great for people watching.
And Sunday is to be sunny but cool, in fact today is supposedly the last rain for the week! :sunny:

Some of the parade performers walk the parade route decked out in rain gear: boots, jackets, and umbrellas. Some characters may get sent out riding a trolley or bus. No floats at all.

I'm with you 100%! We're here also, but unlike most, dh & I don't 'do' rain at all - especially combined with cold and wind!! Stayed with it during the drizzle faze, but then headed to our dry cozy motorhome. :)
Can handle showers, but not when it sets in, like tonight.

Supposed to be 'very' windy the next few days with gusts to 25-30 mph. Arrived Tues. AM and Tues-Thurs was gorgeous weather and we enjoyed it immensely, but then the front moved in Thurs. night.

It was some cheesy music about whether the rain would ever stop (over and over and over), a couple guys carrying a banner and two cars with some characters on them. The cars didn't even really have that many characters. It was a cross between really hilarious and just pathetic. This was the best photo I got: image.jpeg

Yes, as past September visitors, we have plenty of rain experience, and we've found MK has the most indoor things to keep busy.

As someone said before, I like Epcot when it rains. Sometimes they shut down TT, but most of the attractions are inside.

When it rains, it's the only time we do Splash Mountain, I don't like walking around wet so we don't normally do it. If it's raining I'm wearing a poncho or rain coat so it doesn't matter. I have a clear plastic rain coat like the ones the CMs wear, it comes all the way down to my ankles, has a hood with drawstring and buttons all the way up. I stay dry as can be.

People stood in the rain to watch that? Wow, really wow!

Right?! A stunning number of people. Wet, dripping, poncho covered people. It's even worse because they delayed the parade by over 30 minutes before announcing that!

I had left at 3:00 when they announced the initial delay and I knew by the weather radar it wasn't going to clear. I was walking back through Frontierland from Adventureland when they announced the "Rainy Day Cavalcade!" I had to stop for the pic. It was too funny not to!

My rough estimate is that Disney made about $2 million in poncho sales today.

I can handle some rain at Disney but it really can wear you down when it is non-stop.

We had a very wet week during our last trip in Sept. 2014. We were troopers the first couple of days but I couldn't handle it by mid-week. We were at Epcot and the rain was so hard it felt like it was coming up from the ground. I had a bit of a meltdown.
:(

I hope your week gets better!

We had this type of weather last Feb and it was also a Saturday at MK. The parade was cancelled and we had FP+ for it and SDMT which was shut down for long stretches all day. Fortunately, we were able to get additional ones from the CM at Stone Harbor Club for our next MK day. I think we rode Splash 5 times-like PP said-we were already wet and wearing ponchos. It was cold too. On top of that, I completely ruined a new pair of Frye driving moccasins wearing them all day in the rain. We were pretty miserable but the rest of the weather for our trip was great. Hope you have the same.

I think I was there the same week.. We extended our stay and it didn't stop the first week of oct either. Maybe 2 days with nothing but the rest was 6-8 hours of rain at 3 different times over the course of the day..

We had a monsoon come over us on our Epcot day there in February of last year, it was bad!!! All day and even into the evening!! It ruined our park day. We stayed five nights then. But it really makes me re-think the shorter trips now. I hope from now I will be able to book at least 7 nights.

Being Floridians we don't mind the rain at all, in the summer time. Rain thins the herds and lets us have much better line times. As long as there is no lightning you will see us having a grand old time. As far as rain during Jan- March not much fun there due to the cooler temps. Then its time to hit HS or Epcot.
