Railroad and Kali River Questions

I'm trying to get my TP set so I can make FPs tomorrow and I have two questions:

1. Approximately how long does it take to get from the Main Street Station to Fantasyland on the railroad? TP allows 20 minutes for the railroad duration but I'm not sure if that's just to Frontierland or all the way around.

2. I was planning to FP Kali and have the family wear ponchos but I've seen some comments that it's such a tidal wave that a poncho really isn't going to help much. Has that been most people's experience? DS3 would probably not enjoy it if he has a huge wall of water hit him or if he gets soaked (and truthfully, neither would I).

1. Figure 12-15 minutes.
2a. Agreed.
2b. Yes.
2c. I'd say that there is better than a 70% chance of one or both of you being drenched.

Drenched being the operative word. Of course, you could be one of the 5 or 6 that don't really get wet at all....

Don't ride Kali if you would mind getting completely soaked.

Each car holds 12 people in a circle. There's a 99.99% chance that two of those people sitting together will get a wall of water come from behind them and drench them. Then also a good chance, aside from the 2 people soaked, 4 other people will experience some water from the drop. If you survive the drop unscathed, then really your only worry after that is the shooting water elephants that are shot by bystanders on the bridge.

So you can get by either completely dry or just a little bit of water, but be prepared to be one of those who gets drenched. And you can wear a poncho which will protect you from most of it, but for two people it'll be like a big drum of water dumped over.

However, it's a fun ride. I just wish it was longer

It is possible for you to be completely drenched. Everyone gets wet....but there's always 2 or 3 that are totally drenched from head to toe.

Not sure what others are talking about, we have our Ikea ponchos and might have a drip here or there but never soaked. And we have been hit with all the big water.

Mass hypnosis, I guess.

I wore a poncho on Kali and was absolutely fine. I maybe got a little water on me, but the poncho definitely helped. However, if you happen to be on the side of the raft that gets pummeled with the "wall of water", that poncho will probably not be effective. I got lucky as I was on the opposite side and laughed hysterically when my raft mates got drenched. There is absolutely no way of predicting which seat will get the "wall of water"! Ponchos are more effective on Splash Mountain.

Quite honestly, Kali isn't a great raft ride. If you want a better raft experience, don your bathing suits and head over to Blizzard Beach for Teamboat Springs - it's SO fun!!

Thank you all for the help. I was hoping to get to ride it with ponchos but we'll definitely go to the backup plan of doing the Maharajah jungle trail instead.

And Robo, thanks for the answer on the railroad.

If you want to stay dry on Kali, ride across from me. I seem to be the one who gets soaked every time I ride it.

I think the sign on the ride says "You will get wet. You may get soaked. "

If you want to stay dry, Your best bet is to NOT SIT NEXT TO ME..... I'm always the one that ends up going down backwards, therefore the one getting ridiculously WET!!!! LoL....

They should call it---> Kali River Roulette...LoL...

Wearing a poncho on Kali is fine if you don't want your clothes wet, it protects a good chunk of your body. Just remember to lift your feet up to the metal bar before you hit the drop. I made the mistake of leaving it on the floor and my socks/shoes were drenched.
