I am at Disney right now, through Friday - and our agency had treated us to appetizers a few days ago at Raglan Road, and I loved the restaurant so much that I wanted to bring my husband and try the food.

This was one of my best dining experiences on Disney property, ever. The restaurant is gorgeous, and I'd met the...well, not sure what his title is, but it's almost like a restaurant concierge, making sure everything was going well. His name is Jay, and if he's there, he does try to get to everyone to see how they are doing. It really surprised me that he remembered my name, and my husbands name as well (since I'd only mentioned it once when he'd asked). He is a wonderful person, and he sings and plays keyboards too!

I'd made a reservation for 8:30 because the show starts at 9. We were warmly welcomed (moreso than the average guest, since I'd spent time talking with Jay already). But I watched how much fun other guests were having, everyone seemed happy and taken care of.

We arrived a little early, and had a table close to the stage (a bit blocked from seeing the show, although I could watch it from the mirror or by backing up when I wasn't eating). Jay started singing at about 8:45, which led to the band coming on at 9. This is still a very new restaurant, and I'm so suprised at how pulled-together everything is already.

My husband had the ribeye - and he said that it was the best steak he has ever had on property. Both of our portion sizes were plenty for us, and while a little pricey, it was in line with what I do expect from a nice restaurant on Disney property. As far as some people complaining about sides not being included - my husband did order the chips//fries, but mustard mashed potatoes were included, as well as some sort of veggies. With my chicken (which was excellent, maybe the best chicken I've had on Disney property), there was a bed of greens - a very large amount, I had ordered a side of potatoes, but really didn't need to.

The dessert we shared was very good, like the chocolate rounded mousse at some of the Disney restaurants, but it tasted like there were nuts on the bottom of some sort (maybe pecans). If there was any pricing I thought was a little high, it'd be the sides and the desserts. But everything was excellent.

Our bill came to just over $60 for both of us (I don't have the receipt in front of me, it may have been about $65.00). It included soft drinks, a ribeye, chicken with the salad, two sides, and one split dessert. Plus, the show was excellent - they also had a woman who danced in the Irish Michael Flately style. We don't eat out often, but we both had a wonderful time and plan to go back. (Maybe for Christmas, since we'll be at Saratoga Springs at the $38 rate!)

You don't need to buy anything to watch the show. But I do think you'd be missing out if you don't try the food. We talked with one guy a few days back who complained about the price of his shephards pie, saying it was $25.00 for the entree (it was $14.95). The prices weren't as expensive as I kept reading, I do recommend going during the show so you can have an experience, and not just a meal.

Hubby and I visited Raglan Road for a late lunch this past Friday and we have to agree. The food is wonderful. Definately some of the best on disney property for sure.

I started with the Colpucino (a potato, bacon and cabbage soup). This is very mild and blended smooth. I loved it and so did hubby.

Hubby started with the Smoked Cod fish appetizer...all I can say for this one is WOW!!!. This was outstanding. After tasting those, we couldn't wait for our meals to come.

Hubby has the restaurants signature dish, Kevin's Kudos. Which is a very thick side of bacon which comes with mashed potatoes and braised cabbage (if memory serves..lol). We wanted to try the side of the special mashed potatoes with cabbage and bacon mixed in, so our server, Christopher offered hubby fresh veggies instead of the potatoes that came with his entree. The fresh veggies were amazing, looked like they came right out of the garden, pefectly done. The colcannon (special mashed potatoes) also excellent, I will do them this way at home now..lol. Hubby's dish a huge hit, very delicious.

My fish and chips were wonderful as well. You get one huge piece of fish, batterfried. The batter was so wonderful, stayed crisp until the last bite. Fries were the big thick steak fries, quite good as well.

I was too full for dessert, but hubby wanted to try just one, so we had the Irish version of tiramisu, made with Bailys. It come served in a coffee cup with two large heart shaped sugar cookies. I had one cookie and one bite of dessert..it was also very good.

They have a great selection of beer, the good stuff, for a change.

We can hardly wait to return to try everything else on the menu..lol.

Oh and by the way, the service is excellent. Our server was so attentive and wonderful, which was also a nice change for disney since service seems to be slipping in most disney restaurants.

Enjoyed reading your review ~ Thanx for posting.

We really enjoyed it too. The Shepard's pie, the smoked cod appetizer and fish and chips were all great. Will be going back again.

I was planning to do a report, but I'll add my two cents here! DITTO on the service and food. Hubby and I enjoyed a nice dinner here a week or two ago. We had the scallop forest, planxty (sp?) pork loin, and ny steak. The ribeye was unavailable as the chef was not happy with the meat that was delivered that day and sent the steaks back. Raglan Road will definitely be on our "must do" list from now on. Nice atmosphere and great food!

Thanks for giving that review... I am hoping to try this restaurant in January... I love Irish pubs...

I'm not a big fan of band music when eating--is it relatively "quiet" prior to whatever entertainment they have scheduled??

Uncleeromulus -

I was there on Friday at 5pm or so for appetizers, and it was very slow. As it is a pub, and in a night district area, I think you'll find it is much less crowded if you go earlier. I would guess that sometime around 6 or 7, it starts picking up. You will then miss the entertainment as well, though I really thought it added to the experience.

I am so glad that others like the restaurant also! I've seen so many bad reviews as well, with complaints ranging from service to food portions, and I found neither lacking. I did want to try one of the soups, but I just thought I'd be too full (and I would have been!) I don't eat fish, but the fish and chips really did look great. I am very impressed that they sent the ribeye meat back because they didn't like the look of it, I am sure they lost some money that day.

On a side note, I am disappointed that it is taking non-Disney restaurants to bring great food to Disney. My favorites are Cheesecake Factory Express for burgers, Earl of Sandwich and now Raglan Road is up there. I'd love to see Disney a bit more competitive, especially in the fast food arena (though Morocco is excellent for fast food).

I think it's sad that one of the best restaurants isn't owned by Disney, LOL!

We enjoyed our visit but thought it was way too $$ so we won't be eating there again - however, it's a fantastic place to unwind at night with a great beer. We'll be back for sure!

Uncleromulus- when we dined at Raglan Road it was just at opening, about 3pm and it was very quiet. From what our server told us, once the entertainment starts it's very lively, but our experience was of a very peaceful (and lovely) restaurant.

We were seated right next to the band at first and that was way too loud. They moved us to a nice, cozy corner thought. Its the type of table that can easily get neglected by the server because of its location, but out server Joe was wonderful.

Denise, do you remember exactly which chicken dish this was? (Perhaps the Celtic Chicque or the Tricolor?)

We really enjoyed Raglan Road as well. A manager came by to see how everything was and I thanked him again on our way out. Our server was wonderful, as was the food. The prices were very reasonable to me, and DH agreed that the portions were just right - not small like I'd heard. Will definitely be returning in the future!

I was hoping to find some recent reviews since our trip is less than 5 weeks away. Thank you for all the reviews. We were one of the lucky ones who scored the $50 gift certificates for $25 and I now I'm excited about going. All your reviews have made me so hungry!!

Irish tiramisu??? I'm going to have to try this. I love traditional Italian tiramisu, so I'm intrigued at the thought of an Irish version.

We dined at 6:45 and there was just soft Irish music playing via speakers. I can't say enough good things about the food, service, and atmosphere. It's a definite must do next visit in May!

I had to look it up - but it was the tricolor (I don't eat baby anything, including chicken!) It really was awesome - yummy! And filling.

We used our gift certificate and didn't have any problem. We really liked the Down the Middle soup. I was expecting little cups - but the server brought out two big bowls! Really started off the meal right.

What time does it open? I will be there next week and read it is only open for dinner, not lunch.
