Raffle question

Thanks for your input. I agree with having 3 prizes. Somehow it makes it more exciting to know that more than one person is a winner!

As far as losing future benefits, etc...that has been cleared by the family, social worker, etc. and while I appreciate the concern it wasn"t really the thread question.

Again:
Question was to ask if
A) you would rather see a $1/ticket, 6 tickets for $5 raffle
OR
b) $5 per ticket

FOR:
A) 3 prizes....grade prize =$500+ iPad
OR
B) one prize = iPad (donated), with additional donated funds of $400 going to fund.

Any of the above cominations.
Plain and simple. I have heard lots of opinions on both sides of the cost and was wondering what a budgeter would pay.
However, it goes off topic and turns into a "conspiracy theory".

The combo of prizes and prices doesn't matter. As a budgeter, I wouldn't pay for these raffle tickets either way. The story of the girl needing a new wheelchair doesn't add up for me.

As long as the family is onboard I would support the cause.

The number of prizes or the cost would not matter so much to me. As an adult I would plan on spending x # of $ and that is what I would spend. Now if you are looking at the perspective of kids they will go more for the $1 ticket approach, just because they will not be spending as much as most parents would for the same cause.

It can be done we did it for my BFF in high school.

Which ever way, I am sure the new chair will become a reality for this child. Good luck.

What state is this that allows minors to buy raffle tickets? This whole story looks very questionable.

Our school just had a raffle for an Ipad with the proceeds going towards the Canadian Cancer society. The Ipad was donated and the chariety was chosen because one of the students father just passed away from cancer. They were $2.00 a ticket.

I like the idea of multiple prizes if that is an option.


If it were for a new wheelchair for a student at the school I would have gladly donated to that as well.

A child at my daughter's school is suffering from a terrible illness. Some of the things that we did for her were to have some of the girls make bracelets (the kind with the different color threads) and sell them at lunch time, our PTA bought a bunch of those rubbery bracelets and put the little girl's name on them and those were sold for $2 each at local business around town, we weren't able to do a raffle but we did a spaghetti dinner and silent auction (with different baskets full of items donated by local businesses as well as theme baskets with items from each homeroom class). When you bought a ticket to the event at the front table then then your name was put into a drawing for an ipad and we also accepted donations at that table. So just some other ideas you might benefit from!

Personally I don't buy raffle tickets with a high pricepoint. I'd much rather buy a few tickets for $1 each to feel like I have better chances of winning.
