Radisson Barcelo

Has anyone stayed at the Radisson Barcelo on International Drive? I'm chaperoning on our high schools band and choir trip to Disney and this is where we are staying. (off property... I'll cope!<G>) Just looking to find out what it is like there and what places to eat are close. Thanks so much!

I am also interested in any info on the Radisson Barcelo. I will be staying there in April.
Nancy - When are you going there with the band? Not that I don't like band kids, but I am chaperoning a trip to Virginia just a week before with the band! I think I will be sick of seeing those "band kids" by then!

Well I can't say that there won't be band kids there.. but WE won't be there then<G> We're going to be there in March. One thing to consider... on our band trip there is not really much time at the hotel at all. At our chaperone's meeting we were discussing kids swimming. I believe the band director said there might be only one or at the most 2 times they would even have that opportunity... I have a feeling I'm going to be tired when we get home!<G>

Nancy -
I'll be there with our hs band/choir trip in March also (nights of 21/22), so I'll be looking for any responses to your question too!

After 11 years of being used to staying at the Disney DVC's, I'm also a little curious about off-site! Although, like you have found out, it doesn't seem as if there's going to be much down time at the hotel outside of sleeping!

Hi Chris, Well we will be arriving there the 21st also. Probably not until late afternoon and then heading to MGM. Where will you all be coming from? At least I don't have to brave the International Drive traffic myself. A nice bus driver can do it for me!<G>

Nancy, I don't have the full schedule yet, but I'll keep you posted !

How many students/chaperones in your group? I think we'll be around 175 students and 20 chaperones coming in on 5 buses - a mix of choir, orchestra and marching band. I think our band is marching in Epcot.

Our band will be there March 26-29
Playing at Epcot on the 27th.

I wonder how many bands come for band week.

Has anyone done this before?

We are bringing our extended family of 10 with us.

I can't remember the exact count but we will be 7 buses. Combo of Marching band, wind ensemble and symphony and Jazz band. Also show choir and maybe accapella choir or another. We leave IL on the 20th arriving the 21st... then we leave the evening of the 25th and drive home to arrive the 26th. I know they they were talking about the jazz band playing at Cosmic Rays and the marching band marching before the 3 pm parade at the MK... I don't have all the details in front of me but I want to say they may be marching at MGM? I know we have a chaperones meeting again before the trip so I will get more details then.

Hi!

We stayed here a few years ago and really enjoyed ourselves. They just remodeled and have a good restaurant and decently priced room service. The location is good - right across the street from the Mercado and mini golf. It is near many restaurants & minutes from Universal. The rooms were a decent size - 2 queens w/ a desk & pull out sofa - incl fridge & microwave at no charge. The pool was nice w/ jaquzzi and you get to use the facilities at the Y next door if it is rainy. We won this hotel on Priceline for $25 a night. For that price I don't have any complaints!

I'm a little slow in replying but I really appreciate the information on the hotel. We leave tomorrow with the group and will arrive Friday afternoon. It sounds like a really nice place!
