Ok just another question in the long list to come. Hubby and I are going on the June 13th cruise 2004. Had anyone ever stayed in teh Radissan by the port and used their shuttle service and left there car at the hotel? How safe is the car? How early do the shuttles start. We want to be to the ship as early as possible, and what time do you recommend gettint to the ship(i know we can not board till noonish) Thanks for any help.

We've stayed at the Raddison several times and have had no problem with leaving our car there. Just put whatever you are leaving behind while you cruise in your trunk (out of sight). They are really nice in shuttling you to and from the ship. Just sign up for the shuttle when you check in ... earliest one is (I think) for 10:30 or 11 AM.

We love stayng there cause you can relax and start the CRUISE MODE early, the night before. Everytime we have been able to get together with fellow DIS cruisers and it's been sooooooooooo much fun.

See what you can do for your sail date on getting together with others ... give the Radisson a call and you can set up a better rate if there are about 10 room or more booked. I have done that and we have saved each room about $25 to $30 over the advertised rate.

Have a great time!

Another option if you stay here is to rent a car from Avis at the airport and drive it down, then return it at the RAdisson--they also have a shuttle and we were the only ones on it and got to the shuttle bright and early. The car (a Buick LeSabre, plenty of room for the 5 of us) cost us $54 for the day. This way we were not limited to the hotel--we drove to Grills for dinner (yummy) and then to Ron Jon's surf shop to check the place out.

The Radisson shuttle does get booked early, and you cannot reserve a time until you check in. We arrived 6:00 pm Friday night, and the earliest shuttle available was 2:00 pm (much too late in our opinion). In the morning, I drove family and luggage to the port. Family had luggage checked, went through security, and got in line. I drove back to Radisson, parked in designated area, and went to Avis. I waited for about 15 minutes (I just missed a van) and then was given a ride. I was the only one on the shuttle, and I tipped a couple of dollars. The driver had to go back to the port anyway to pick up others from Carnival.

I was thinking we probably should have had the entire family waiting for Avis. But later, I ran into a fellow Dis who was on the shuttle that I just missed; he indicated it was full. Ultimately, I liked our decision to have family in Air Conditioned port, beyond security and in line for check in, while I did some driving.

We were set at the end of the trip to do the reverse (I go by myself in Radisson or Avis shuttle to pick up car, then come back for family and luggage). But the Radisson shuttle was waiting at the port and available. We all got on and were back to the Radisson by 8:45.

And I will second the comment about setting up a Dis meet at the Radisson by the pool. It was nice not having to figure out the time on Saturday to meet (after you board and make reservations, but before the safety drill, etc.) We also ran into everyone again at the Port and stood in the boarding line together.

We also had our car so DH dropped off me , kids and luggage, then went back with the car. He hopped a shuttle (since it was just him and no luggage it was very easy). The car was safe, and we did the same in reverse.IMPORTANT!!! Just remember if you do this the driver of the car MUST have his/her documents and ID!!Without it he/she will not be premitted into the terminal.

ok...another option...(you guys are going to be sicl of me by the time I get on my cruise next year) What if we decided to park at the prot? Has anyone done this. It seems a lot of work to be dropping off going back ect... IU should mention that it will be jusy me and DH. It is our 10th annv. and we are being mean and leaving the kids with Grandma(where they would rather be anyway then with us...LOL) So Should I just park at the port or go with plan A and park at the hotel.?

Remember the port charges 7.00 per day to park there. I rantionlized booked the King Whirlpool Suite (119.00) by figuring we were saving 49.00 by parking the car there. If it is just the two of you, take the shuttle over. It will drop you off right at the entrance (if you park you will be across the street)Even tipping for luggage you will still be way ahead.Enough to buy a nice bottle of wine with your anniversary dinner! ;)

We love the Radisson too! Left our van there and the whole family took the 10:30 shuttle to the pier. Had no trouble getting it back to the hotel once we disembarked the ship either. The Radisson has a great pool and is a great way to relax after travelling to the port. Plan dinner at Grills the night before you board and you'll have the perfect start to a great vacation!

We won't arrive at the Radisson until 5pm-will we be able to get a shuttle, or is there another choice. We won't have a car

Is there a shuttle from the Airport to the Radison or do we have to rent a car??

Yes, you can reserve the Radisson shuttle when you check in. It won't be first thing in the morning, but you should be able to get a time. If the time is too late for your liking, still reserve it, then hang out by Avis in the morning to try to get on their shuttle. You do not need to have rented a car from them to use their shuttle. Just be sure to tip the driver, including extra for the luggage. If it looks like you will be able to get on an Avis shuttle, as a courtesy, inform the front desk of the Radisson to cancel your reservation.

If all of this is too much coordination, remember, you can always take a cab.

Relling Twin - for the king whirlpool suite you booked you can save another $10. Go into Radisson's site when you click on for the Radisson at the Port, they list 4 or 5 room options, at the bottom of that is a button that says "View All Rates". Scroll down until you come to the "Visit Florida STE" It's a king suite (1 king or 2 king beds) whirlpool, fridge, microwave for $109.

Every little bit helps. Hey, I'm on a roll today saving people money, I happened to come across the Florida Resident rates and called my sister and my parents and told them to contact their TA, found out they saved $400 on each of their cabins for our upcoming cruise. OK, I know the TA would have probably contacted them in the next few days anyways, but it felt good alerting them to the savings.

If you have any questions about the room on Radisson's site, let me know.

Gail

Any idea how much a cab is and if they have to be called way in advance?
