Have you seen it? I really want to go, but I wonder if it is worth the $ and the travel? We would have to travel to Chicago to go see it. About a 3 hour drive. It is one of those things that I have always wanted to do, but just haven't gotten around to it. Any ideas? And what about kids? would a 11 year old boy and 7 year old girl like it?

Obviously alot of people must love it, because it's been around for ages, but I went several years ago and thought it was the dorkiest thing I'd ever seen. I went w/3 girlfriends and we ended up leaving early. We couldn't stand the singing & dancing anymore. We were just glad that we didn't pay for the tickets. Somehow they came from one of the parents or something.

Anyway, maybe kids would enjoy it, I don't know about an 11 year old boy. Maybe a 4 or 6 year old girl.

Sorry if I'm in the total minority here, just had to speak up. Of course everybody's different, and you could love it!

(I feel like I should add "Bah-humbug" to my post! sorry)

We went last year and loved it! Lots of tap and music. We were with a group of Girl Scouts all ages, everyone loved it. I would recommend it.

We go to the one in NYC every year...I used to take my godson before he passed away every tother year until he was 13 and we all loved it....

Count me in as one who loves this production. I lived in NYC for 13 years and saw it every year......it is one of my Christmas traditions.

It is 90 minutes of singing, dancing and just plain fun. The end of the show is the only time that it gets religious with the telling of the Christmas Story in the form of the Living Nativity. It is just beautiful and at the end of it when all of the Nativity figures are in place....with live animals mind you......a sheer curtain comes down and the poem " One Solitary Life" is projected on to the curtain. You can see the nativity scene in the background and it is read by the narrator of the show. It makes me cry each and every time I see it.

I am now living in Asheville NC and will not get to see it this year. I think I am going through withdrawl......

IMO it's well worth the money and drive! DH and I had a 5 hr trip to NY to see the show, then some sight seeing and found it to be most enjoyable. The Rockettes, dance routines, music, costumes, live Nativity, were outstanding and personally I think every child should have the opportunity to experience such a fine production. :goodvibes

Love it. Love it. Love it. I even remember going when I was a child (that's when you also saw a movie with it -- saw Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang one time). This year they are saying they have a new opening act. I think it brings out the kid in everyone. Took hubby for the first time ever two years ago and he was a kid for the day.

Saw it years ago in NY and loved it, don't know if it has changed any since then. Though I don't think I would spend the money they are asking for now.
Not sure about the kids, sorry.

We have seen the one in Detroit 3 possibly 4 times. Loved it everytime! I would like to take dd 11 this year. The dancing, music, costumes, Navitity - all are wonderful.

Definitely worth the drive.

The first time I saw it I LOVED it! I went with my school into NYC and it was one of the best shows I ever saw. I thought it was well worth the money. I especially loved the Nutcracker and Nativity scenes.

The price wasn't bad for my ticekts...I got 2 18th row tickets for 70.00 for both of them....they run specials and if you are flexible you can get them half price...I think the code was DMFREE. I am taking my daughter out of school one day during thanksgiving week and we are goign in for a show and then dinner.

I saw it in 1987. Was amazed by the live nativity scene. I think everyone should see the Rockettes just to say they have and found the portion of the Nutcracker delightful. Maybe one day I can take my son to see it.
