Let's see if I can explain this Red Dwarf...

The gang fight a squid. Some new hologram appears and makes a portal to somewhere. Turns out their dimension doesn't exist, and they're actually characters in a TV show. At the same time as them appearing, the TV show is still going on. They find a DVD set that tells them what to do. They go to some sci fi store, then to a nose shop, then to Coronation Street where they talk to the actor that plays one of them. They go to the person who writes what they do, and he attempts to kill them, but they kill him instead. They find that using the typewriter, they can do what they want. Then the typewriter stops working, and they realise it's the Despair Squid, and none of this is real. It ends saying that their reality is real, and ours isn't.
