Hey Everyone!

I want to make sure that I am correct on a couple of things.

A. Can I get a dining plan if I book a room on a room only discount and purchase tickets through the Youth Program?

B. Is the Dining Plan during Free Dining dictated by the resort? In other words, if I stay Deluxe will I get the DxDP? DDP for mods and QSDP for values?

I have always wanted to stay CL and have also always wanted to try DxDP, just trying to justify my actions! ;)

No, you have to buy at least a one-day ticket (two days for free dining) to get a dining plan unless you are a DVC member booking through Member Services or have an annual pass. You cannot book FREE dining with a room discount at all as you can't combine discounts and free dining would be considered your discount.

No. It's QSDP for values and regular DDP for mods and deluxes. Deluxe DDP is not given away free, but you can upgrade your free plan to it by paying the difference.

Thanks Nala. So if I had an AP I could book a discounted room only rate and still get the DDP?

That would depend on if the rate you want is applicable to a package reservation. Even AP holders must book packages to get DDP, although they are ticketless packages. DDP can't be added to a room only reservation. AP room discounts are applicable to this type of package, but there may be some discounts that can't be applied to packages.

You can purchase the DDP even with a room discount (it let me try this on the website) you just have to have at least 1 day tickets but you cannot get free dining with the room discount as you can not double up on discounts.

Ok, thanks.

I am just trying to find the most economic way to stay Club Level and get the DDP. I normally go during Homeschool days and get VERY discounted park tickets. I also normally rent a reservation from a DVC owner. From what I can tell, AK is the only CL that you can rent with points? I really have absolutely zero desire to stay there so I am trying to find other options!

It's minimum 1 day tickets for paid dining, minimum 2 day tickets for free dining, and the room discount must be applicable to a package reservation to apply it to any DDP package. Ask when you call if the discount you want can be applied to an AP ticketless room/dining package, or try booking online with discounts offered.

Yes, and there are very few DVC CL rooms, so club level bookings there are very limited there. However, point rental is an excellent way to get DDP of your choice without buying any tickets. To get a DDP you're going to have to either buy an annual pass or buy at least a 1 day ticket for everyone.
