I 'm pretty sure that DVC members can receive a discount on cash reservations. I've tried to find information on the DVC member website - but to no avail...:confused3

Can someone help me locate this information. I thought that we could get a 25% discount on cash ressies at non-DVC properties...(if available) by calling member services to book the room(s).

Any help would be most appreciated

The DVC member discount is 25% - when available - and only at DVC resorts thru MS. If reserved thru MS, these can be linked to point reservations so you would not need to move.

The DVC discount is NOT always available. Sometimes you can get it right at 11 months and at other times it won't be available until within 7 months. The first priority for MS is to reserve DVC villas using points, but when they have availability or a past history of probable availability, the discount is available.

We have, on many occasions, reserved at the cash rack rate and later been quite surprised when the 25% discount was applied to a reservation already made. While we have not always been able to get the discount at 11 months, we have always gotten the discount for weekend nights.

Good luck! :)

Is is always 25%? When I called for March reservations it was not much of a discount at all...AAA had a better rate which we booked.

I tried for the Member Discount twice. Once in May, the other in Oct. Both for weekend nights, it never became available. For the Oct trip it was for a 2 bedroom, I ended up biting the bullet and paying the price in points. For the May trip, I cancelled at the 31 day mark and stayed elsewhere. I think it must depend on how popular of a time you are going. I called MS on several times to see if the discount had become available, NO. She said," It doesn't always become available." Good luck!

Thank you so much Doc - I knew there was some type of discount, but just couldn't remember what it was exactly

When we were at AKV last Sept. we had scheduled checkout for a Fri. and were supposed to move to Portofino at Universal for the remainder of our trip.

As Fri. approached we kept dreading the move (first DVC stay trying to avoid the weekend points) so DH went to the front desk and asked about the member discount availability and it all worked out no moving and no phone calls on our part.

This was for a 1bed sv
