I guess the rift really is not whether or not O'Reilly thinks blacks can behave in a civilized manner, but his statement shows that he thinks a large slice of America needs to be reminded of this - otherwise why make the statement?
If in the year 2007 there are folks out there that need to be reminded that blacks can act civilized in a resturant----that particular subset of America is not going to listen anyway because their bigotry is soul deep.
But I certainly give credit for O'Reilly knowing that what he said is not a shock to himself. But it is
that he thinks his audience may need to be reminded.
