I had forgotten you weren't able to train outside during the Summer months. I bet it was a huge difference. But you made it.
And good to hear Baxter is doing so well. It is amazing how quickly they recover. Bubblegum never even had pain killers after her surgery and she had 16 stitches on the outside and I don't know how many on the inside. I'd have pain killers.
Worried about your next update.
I can't believe she didn't have any painkillers!

I think it's helped keep him calm, which is good. Dogs are amazing though in how quickly they bounce back from stuff. The incision is looking pretty good already.
Hey, glad to read that Baxter is on the mend. I can't believe we got through our dog's chewing stage without a similar operation being required.
I'll bet that run down Main Street is amazing! You do look rather hot in that photo in front of the castle.
It was and I was!
Sorry to hear that the first half of your race was a little rough. That's crazy that it is so humid in January! I'm hoping the rest of the race was better. Even though there was a sad part.
Glad the dog is ok!
Thanks. It was disappointing, but I knew it might happen.
I'm sorry that the race did not go as you had imagined. At least you know what the problem is now and the next time you attempt it you will get an awesome time!
I do hope I get to run a half in a better time one day. Just not sure when/if I'll get there.
Hi Carissa,
Sorry to hear about baxter. Glad he's doing better. Also sorry the race was starting off to be painful for you. What were the temps during your race? I too am worried because the last few months I have been running in 20-30 degree weather too. I think the humidity will slow me down too. I cant wait to hear more about your race.
I think it was in the mid to high 50s at the start of the race and in the 60s by the end.
that has to be an amazing feeling after all that training to run down main street.
It is pretty cool. But, I also was preoccupied with getting to that bathroom so I could take my shirt off!
It's nice to take a small pocket flashlight for just such occasions.
I'll have to keep that in mind.
I wish you were feeling better about your race so early on! I can totally see the humidity bringing you down-same thing happened to me in my first 5K in Kentucky. It really does make a huge difference!
I can imagine that the run down Main Street must have been just amazing!! WOW!!
That title of your next installment really has me worried!
I don't know why I didn't think about the humidity ahead of time. You'd think living by the ocean, we'd have humidity here too. But, this winter has been so cold and dry.
Sorry you had a rough time during the race and probably best you did slow down rather than hurt yourself. I'm impressed with you regardless of how you thought you did
What was the sad moment?
Thanks Heidi

You'll have to wait for the next installment!
Sorry your race wasn't going to plan... I thought people just wore 'throw away' clothes so they could just toss em if they don't need them.
Many people do. But, I didn't get around to buying throw away clothes and didn't want to lose what I had. Tying stuff around my waist worked just fine.

Car ~ I think it is amazing that you followed through with your goal to sucessfully complete the half marathon and the training and energy that went into getting there, homeschooling your 3 boys, having your Navy DH away a lot of the time and the groin issues. You did it!
Thanks Nat
I'm sorry you were having so much pain during the race.
Amanda
It was something I was fully expecting. Now, the humidity, on the other hand, took me by surprise.
Hi there! Just checking in!
