Racing to Lose a Toenail ~ My Half-Marathon Weekend *Homeward Bound 3/16 p.25

Wow! I can't believe i found your report! I am in exactly the same position you were last year! I turn 36 in march, am 40 lbs heavier than I need to be and have never run in my life...and I just decided yesterday that I wamt to run the 1/2 at Disneyworld next year. i have greatly enjoyed going back and reading your training posts. I have never pushed myself like this before. It's going to be an adventure. Great job and thanks for being an inspiration! (My husband thinks I am absolutely crazy!)

It's always a good time around here. Well, except for when it isn't. :thumbsup2
LOL TRUE!

Did you not see my post on Facebook about it or are you just pretending you don't remember to make it more exciting? ;)
Oh I saw it... I just didn't want to ruin the suspense for anyone else. ;)

Glad you made it on ToT!!!! See, it wasn't that bad! I think the name is scarier than the ride. I always 'redneck' those pictures too! :lmao::lmao:

How nice of Melissa to drive down and meet you! :goodvibes

That's awesome that you're a ToT convert! I love that ride but haven't been on it in years!

Amanda

I'm glad that you like ToT, it is one of my favs, so much fun! I was terrified the first time I went on but then I ended up loving it just like you!

ToT is one of my favorites! My DN was scared to try it when we were there last April but he ended up loving it too. It does seem like it would be scary. I have been on those free fall rides at other parks and am not a huge fan but for some reason ToT is just FUN!:thumbsup2 We always come off that ride with huge smiles.:goodvibes

I knew when the first drop was going to happen. And I'm sure I screamed. But, I loved it! :woohoo: Once I felt the seat belt catch me, I was fine. It's a very different feel than when you're on a rollercoaster and dropping. I didn't get those funny feelings in my tummy. I believe I even put my arms up in the air on the second drop. :rolleyes1

Now that I was a ToT convert, we tried to red neck our photo. The pictures came out dark on my camera and Melissa's were blurry. Maybe Melissa can post one of them here if she didn't delete them. I'm in the pink shirt.

I didn't get any with Joe and Augie at this time, but we would meet up again over the weekend.

We got to the front and this time we scored the front row. I loved it even more! At one point, there was a tiny drop and I remember saying, "Come on! I want a big drop! All the way down!"

So much fun! I'm very glad I finally made myself try it out and next time I will take Sully on it. I think he'll love it.

Yay for you trying it and loving it! :dance3:

Yes, CP, you can do it! :cheer2: It is so much fun! :woohoo:

Hey Carissa! Great job on the race, can't wait to hear all about it! Unfortunately life got in the way of my training/running the half, but I'm back at it now and aiming for the Wine and Dine half. You are an inspiration! :goodvibes

Glad you liked ToT...it was one of my favorites!

I'm envious that you were able to see Christmas decorations! Lucky you :thumbsup2

It's nice you were able to meet up with a few DIS friends :goodvibes

I edited my post to add the replies to the cliffhanger. lol

:welcome: So glad you stopped by! You're not crazy at all. You can totally do this. :thumbsup2 We even have birthdays in the same month. ;) Good luck to you!

So much fun!

I'm so glad I conquered my fear. I would have continued to miss out on an awesome ride.

Definitely. I think my 10 year old will love it. He loves thrill rides. My husband and I never wanted to go on before with him, but now I'll gladly go.

Yeay for riding the Tower of Terror and liking it! Maybe there is hope for me!

Have you never tried it? Really Jackie! It's so much fun!

Yay for you trying it and loving it! :dance3:

It was an awesome weekend for firsts! :woohoo:

I love, love, love Tower of Terror!! I'm so glad you rode it & liked it! :cool1:

Me too!

You can't leave a cliff hanger.....

Hey Kayce! :goodvibes Sorry to hear about life getting in the way. It does that, doesn't it? Good luck for training for the W&D! Liz did that last year. :thumbsup2

I didn't think they'd still be up. I really want to see Osbourne Family Lights, but that will have to wait for a holiday trip. :thumbsup2

Be.Still.My.Heart, Carissa!! I am so proud of you for trying TOT. It just scares the crap out of me. I will stand at that attraction and watch it and watch it over and over again and all that screaming and the doors opening and closing ... no.way. :guilty:
My family LOVES TOT and I always will follow them over to the ride and then while waiting for them, I will walk all around the attraction and inside the gift shop. I then observe everyone coming off TOT and they are all just beyond THRILLED. Nope, doubt I will ever come to ride it. :guilty:

A celebrity ... hmm ...

Since I just joined up with the Ducks I thought I would take a trip over here to read about your Half Marathon. I need a little inspiration and so far your TR has been inspirational and quite entertaining (which I needed today cause I am stuck in the house with the kids and snow/ice on the driveway)! popcorn::

So I finally clicked on your TR in your signature line so I am joining in. I am a fellow Duck and one of those "crazy" people who did Goofy (actually it was Goofy #2 for me) I doesn't seem as crazy after I have done it. And I was one who said I would never run a marathon when I first started running in 2007.

Carissa you have me inspired to do a trip report of my own so thanks. Can't wait to find out if you and Liz meet up...or not. LOL

Best. Ride. Ever!! I LOVE ToT!! I was nervous too the first time, but like you, was a fast convert! I think it's WAY better than a coaster! But even more than the ride itself, I LOVE the theming of it. It's just so dang creative!

I just spent all day reading your PTR! :lmao: I'm a runner and trying to build myself up to 5K and above races, and I swear your PTR gave me the courage to push myself more! I can't wait to hear all about it! I'm also terrified of ToT, and I hope I get the courage on this next trip to go! I'm thinking of the 5K or half marathon on Oct. 1st at WDW, but unsure if I can run 13 miles by then?!?!?
