Racing to Lose a Toenail ~ My Half-Marathon Weekend *Homeward Bound 3/16 p.25

That's funny because I had someone running the Goofy sitting behind me on the plane.

Amanda

what a nice picture on the wall! did you notice it while you were there? :lmao:

(sorry. i had to.)

wait. and you slept in the bed RIGHT THERE by the picture? oh. that's even worse! :rotfl:

i guess it's a good think Liz took a picture then.

:rotfl::rotfl:

I don't think you're going to live that one down, Carissa.

Me too! Like I said to someone else, I feel like I can actually take time to think about the trip now. It went by in a flash. I keep saying to Chuck, "Looking back, I don't remember the half being all that bad. It seemed very easy." But, I know I didn't feel that way when I was doing it. :rotfl:

Yeah it's funny how that happens. I'm ready to sign up for my next half!! I don't know how I'm going to wait until a year from now to do one! hmmm

Hey - I remember when you started on your journey last year :) Good for you on completing the 1/2! Can't wait to hear about it!

Yeay! You started! I can't believe the guy next to you on the airplane was going to do the Goofy Challenge! That is crazy! :scared1:

Great room location and view! I remember your post on FB about the Tower. ;)

That's a brave soul, to run the half and then the full the next day.

Nice room location!

All I will say in my defense is that I was exhausted most of the weekend and overwhelmed! :rolleyes1

I ran into someone on the flight home who was a pacer for the marathon. It was so cool to run into so many runners on the flights.

It's kind of like having a baby. If we remembered what it was like, we might never do it again.

Thanks! I should take a poll to see how many people thought I would actually follow through and complete the half. ;)

I figure half of you already know the outcome of ToT. :thumbsup2

Nice room location!

And I just saw a guy on Daily Mile who did those PLUS the 5k on Friday.

Just registered for another race! I'll be doing the Shamrock TowneBank 8k on March 19th. I'm excited to do another shorter race.

That sounds fun! I know there is a race through the Norfolk Zoo down here. I need to look into that. I also signed up for another race in February. It's just a short 1.4 mile fun run. I also signed my 10 year old up for his first race!

I'm in!!! or here!! :flower3:

Hey Heidi :goodvibes Always great to see you on the Dis. :thumbsup2

:welcome: Hi! We are also in Hampton Roads. :thumbsup2 Dh is stationed at Norfolk. How exciting to be moving to Florida! It would be nice to be so close to WDW, but not sure I could handle the humidity. I was dying in January. :rolleyes1

I'm here! It was so fun meeting you on Sunday! Wish we could have chatted longer, but I did have a race to finish:rolleyes1 It really gave me a boost though! Can't wait to hear the details about your trip!

Yay! :goodvibes It was wonderful to meet you! Now you can hear the full story of how my race went! You were cracking me up asking me about the race when you were in the middle of running a marathon. :rotfl: Glad our visit gave you a boost.

I'm here hopping for a picture of your toenail!!!!! :rotfl2:

HEY I KNOW YOU!!! I THINK???

Typical post from you!!! :headache:

Actually, I would like to see this is TOENAIL as well and will it be going up on EBAY for purchase??? :surfweb:

Carry on ...

I can see this TR is going to be a good time!!!!! :lmao::lmao:

Carissa-
How nice is it to sit next to someone that has a personality on the plane. I usually sit near someone picking their nose.

Sweet location at POP!!!!!

OK... I can't wait to see if the ToT was conquered!!!!! :goodvibes

And the crowd begins to chant.......

Toenail!!! Toenail!!! Toenail!!! :rotfl2:

Great location at Pop! If I ever go Value(more a space issue than anything with my family of 5), I'd like to stay at Pop. It looks like a fun resort.

So glad the trip is starting off smoothly! :goodvibes

Did you not see my post on Facebook about it or are you just pretending you don't remember to make it more exciting? ;)

Okay. I went to photobucket looking for a toenail picture to post here, but I had to leave empty handed. I was quite disgusted. Let's just leave it at that. I started having flashbacks to my passing out during 127 Hours. :rolleyes1

I hear ya on the space thing. We would definitely need two rooms and I think that would be plenty of space. But, if you're going to spend that kind of money, why not just go to a moderate? (Retorical question)

So, here is a quick rundown of what has been going on for the past two weeks...

Over the New Year weekend, we visited with my husband's family in Pennsylvania. His niece and her husband recently bought a place of their own. Between talking with them about their experience, we decided that we would start the process of getting pre-approved and see where we stood. We knew we had some money coming to us via tax refund and we wanted to know if we were better off paying a couple of things off or holding on to that money for closing costs, etc.

That Monday we applied for a VA loan through our bank and were instantly pre-approved! :cool1: They hooked us up with a realtor in the area through their Mover's Advantage program (if we end up buying a house with this realtor, we get a cash credit after closing from our bank). She found out what we were looking for and sent us some listings.

That first week we checked out a bunch of houses, first online and then in person. But, nothing really screamed "Our House!" We upped the price range we were looking in and got some new listings.

The first house we looked at Monday was the one. We just walked in and knew. We decided to put an offer in right away. It is a large 3 bedroom house that is only 3 1/2 years old. It's a foreclosure so the asking price is way below the assessed value. We were very hopeful when we left the realtors on Wednesday after signing all of the paperwork. :thumbsup2

Last night I got an email from our realtor who said the seller (the bank) has had multiple offers and wants all potential buyers to put in their best offers. We totally weren't expecting that. Chuck had duty on the ship last night so I had to talk to him via email today. We've decided to offer the asking price (we originally offered $10,000 less) and see what happens. If we're meant to get this house, it'll happen. Otherwise, we'll walk away and start looking again.

I'm finding this whole house buying thing to be very stressful! I should probably be monitoring my blood pressure through this process. :rolleyes1

Good luck with the house that is so exciting!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait to hear about your half marathon. I have only done 5K's and one 10 miler last May and I have my next 10 miler in March. It would be a dream to do the Disney 1/2 marathon or Princess 1/2 marathon (NEVER EVER A FULL MARATHON -- NO WAY)!

I am in!popcorn::

That reminds me, when I was killing time at MCO before my flight I browsed in the bookstore and that book was there. I went right to THAT part and read it. Oh my. Now I understand better what seeing the movie must have been like.

I found it!!! And only a mere 6 pages later, I am all caught up. :sad2: (If only I'd cruise the TR boards more often to find familiar faces.)

But I did love your beginning!! Finding a fellow runner/traveler was neat! Glad it helped to pass the flight quicker.

Your room brings back so many fun memoriess at POP! You really had a fun view.

Now, I'm all curious to see what you had for lunch and if you were able to keep it down after ToT! (I didn't see any FB posts- so I really am!)
