Isn't the Minnie this weekend?

And my triathlon isn't until next week, I messed up on the dates. :headache:

Good luck to all!!! :cool1:

Good Luck Everyone!

I'm not racing this weekend, but will be working the Blue Cross Broad Street Run Ten Miler all weekend (Expo Fri. & Sat., lead pace car on Sun.)

Hope everyone has a great race, no matter where it is!

Terri

I hope everyone has an injury free, PR setting race! Have fun, everybody!!!

Sneaking over to a computer lab at my "forward deployed location" to post this... I got a race in this weekend! And bizarrely enough, it's one that other WISH'rs completed! And even more bizarre, it was my own "minnie" (mini) marathon!

You might have seen on the news, that they ran a version of the Indianapolis 500 Mini Marathon at a forward deployed location. I ran it! Heard about it a couple days prior, hadn't trained or anything, but figured I'd give it a whirl... Imagine my surprise when I found out that we got the same awesome medal! A checkered flag colored neck ribbon with an indy car logo inclusive of the date, and the wheels actually turn!

They announced that 38,000 would run the real thing in Indianapolis later that day, but the 800 or so of us due to the time difference would be the first to complete it! :cool1:

As for the race itself, needless to say, it was hot! And dusty... And long... And involved a lotlotlot of out and back portions... literally MILES of them due to the restrictions of the base. My garmin actually put it at 12.2 miles, but I sure wasn't complaining! Time was something like 2:13 even with a short race, so probably around 20 minutes slower than average overall. I was able to run the first 10 miles before being forced to do intervals due to chafing (no bodyglide, boo!) and cramps. Go figure, training actually would have helped. ;)

Hope everyone else had a great Minnie weekend too!
