Race Reports/Encouragement/Kudos for March 29th and 30th!

Great job, Cindy, Mike, and Casey!!
Casey, I totally hear ya...one day (and it should be soon, if I can get healthy) I just want to see a pace time of 8:xx!

My triathlon today went pretty well...I had a good swim of .33 miles, a fast transition, a smoking bike ride of 12.5 miles with an 18.9 mph average, and another fast transition. Then the run/limp. ugh. My hip flexor is still not working right and it hurt a bit to run. But I held on as best as I could. I am happy that I was 7th out of 23 in my age group, but the sad part is that I was in 2nd coming off the bike. Total time 1:26:27.

The race was so well done, though, and great fun! Lots of friends to see there.

Cindy, Great job on you half. Wow! You fly!

Mike, great job! Glad you could stick with your plan too. I don’t know what that is—a plan. Well done!

Casey, love the pics! You’ve got a great time going there too! Those were nice photo ops. I do thank you for modeling the skirt too.

Betsy, good job and with you hurting too. You go! I do WISH that you get all better with that soon.

Thanks for your reports.

Go WISH Team!

Great run Casey...you'll be in the 8's in no time!!! WTG! :thumbsup2

Said it before Mike...but you rocked the marathon today. And I agree with Deb...every race should feature a crazy person singing the star wars theme.

Betsy:  You did AWESOME. You're such a warrior to fight through the leg pain and finish an amazing and impressive 7th in your age group. I know that hip has been giving you trouble the past few weeks. Your bike leg was SMOKIN'!!!!!!

Keep the reports coming WiSHers!!!!

Wow, Betsy, wow.....:worship: :worship:

and

 AND pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for that hip!!!!

Congratulations to everyone who competed this week. Well done!

Here goes my first ever race report, mainly because this was my first ever race!!! I ran the Azalea Trail Run in Mobile, AL this morning. It is a 10K through beautiful downtown Mobile. For those of you who don't know, Mobile is the city under the trees. Most of the route was through tree lined streets and by tree lined, there are oak trees that are over 300 years old and in a lot of places, the trees form a tunnel of sorts over a four lane highway. Simply beautiful! The azaleas were in full bloom for most of the route. Bright reds, whites, purples and of course, the light pink "Pride of Mobile" variety. Some of the azalea bushes are as big as a car or even an SUV....color everywhere! Also running among the antibellum homes was simply amazing! Mobile was a city that was left mainly untouched by the uncivilized yankee hordes during the war of northern aggression; mainly because all they wanted was control of the port, which was accomplished by the Navy. Anyway, there were about 8 musical acts en-route, a lot of Jimmy Buffet music (Mobile is his hometown). There were several people having brunch in their front yard during the race and cheering us on. There were even a few who offered a mimosa and I saw a couple of runners take them up! It was very fun. The day was slightly overcast and VERY humid. I finished in 1:11:57 which I'm proud of, considering I spent the first half of the week with a stomach bug. At the post-race party, there was plenty of water, Gatoraide and hot bowls of some great red beans-n-rice.

Next up, a 5k in Montgomery next week, followed by the Country Music half-marathon at the end of the month!

Betsy - good job on your Tri despite your hip problems! :cool1: I would love to do one someday. A good friend of mine just left for Hawaii today to do an Olympic Tri on the big island.

BamaEd - great job on your first race EVER! Impressive time! The race sounds like a lot of fun. I would LOVE the Jimmy Buffet music.

thanks, y'all!

Ed, great job!! I knew you'd pull through your bug and have a good day! Sounds like the azaleas were lovely!

Just checking in quick from the ING Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon...

The rain held off and cool temps prevailed. I'll do a full report later this evening but I finished in 1:54:10...had a great first half of the race and kind of fizzled out during the second half. I saw results from other WISHers and it looks like everyone had a great race!

Full report to follow later...have a good afternoon..

Congrats again to all those who raced yesterday, smokin times!

BamaEd, Congratulations on your first ever event! Great event. Sounds like a fascinating place to have an event. I think I'd love that.

Way to go! You did great!

Scott, glad to hear that all managed well. Look forward to the rest later.

So which of you male runners in ING was wearing the Goofy Shirt???

I talked to someone at the last Gatoraid stand who was wearing one.

I have TOTAL admiration for everyone who did the ING. I have been home about 20 minutes and my figures are still FROZEN, I am having a horrid time typing!!! It was COLD standing there giving out Gatoraid, and I can only imagine what it felt like after running 13 or more miles.

(I did just check Randy's time and inspite of the hip he did 4:00.54. Pretty good, but I will be hearing about that 54 for months LOL! My cousin got his Boston time in!!!!! YEAH PARTY TONIGHT!!!))

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE!

Hi everyone-

I am home and typing in my pjs. I just wanted to post that I finished before I hit the hay for a LONG nap. I might be out for the night. Yes, I know its only noon.

I finished. 2:06:33. WAY better than I expected!

I had to really pay attention to my body alot more than I usually do because I was afraid I wouldn't have the energy to finish.

I had a lot of help along the way from my friends with TNT. Many of the people I have trained with in the past were on the course for this season's team. They each ran a mile or so with me and that made the last half go by quickly. I kept saying "save your legs for the team" but they ignored me and chatted me up almost the entire way to the finish.

I ran the first 4 miles with my regular running partner but she was on fire and I knew I was holding her back so I told her to go on without me. So it ended up that I was only alone on the course for about 2 miles!

Well, I can't wait to hear how everyone else did!
Congrats Scott and Thank you CarolA!

Cecilia Way to go! And I'll have you and Shan and Scott and everyone else racing know that you were my inspiration to get me through my long run today.
Maura

CONGRATS....ED....great job battling through the race despite being SOOO ill last week! :thumbsup2

Cecilia: WOW...that is a crazy good time even though I know your energy level was not at it's normal super high due to being sick. I hope you allow yourself some time to recover and get well ;). Amazing time...way to battle. You guys are all warriors out there.

Scott:  WTG buddy...I know conditions weren't optimal today with rain, wind and cold...but you did an incredible job IMO. That pace is killer!!!

I agree with Maura...you guys were all my inspiration to get out there and run the LR today. Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Just checking in real quick -

DH beat his goal - had a rockin time of 1:53:49!

I made my goal by 2 seconds! :lmao:
Time was 2:29:58.

Felt pretty good until the last 2 miles - my left leg is like a bum leg now! I don't know what I did to it, but I had to walk most of the last 2 miles.

So I'm pretty amusing to watch walk around right now.

Great job everyone! :cheer2:

Oh, and I forgot the most important thing -

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT ALONG THE WAY! I COULDN'T HAVE DONE MY FIRST HALF WITHOUT YOU GUYS!!! :cheer2:

Congrats Scott, Shan and Cecilia!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: Y'all ROCK!! :thumbsup2

Well, I finished my 5K yesterday. It was a bit cold, and I woke up with stomach issues. Let's just say, it wasn't pretty. :sad2: I made it to the race fine, and was fine on the course, but I've felt like crap ever since. I don't know if I caught something from Princess Puke(my dd who threw up on Friday) or not. :confused3 She never got sick again, and never ran fever so I thought it was just nerves. She has standardized testing this week and had double header season opener softball games yesterday. Anyway, I finished my race in 36:34! A PR for me!!:cool1: Imagine how much faster I would have been had I felt 100%. Also, I slowed at the mile markers, to enter my split times in my cellphone notepad, so I could remember. I almost got off the course after the first mile 'cause of messing with my phone. :headache: I also had to walk when I got my gatorade because I can't seem to drink and run at the same time (and I did crease my cup to make it easier. So that makes it that I can't do math or drink while running. :rotfl2:

I can't wait for my 10K in May! I can SO do it! I have another 5K in the meantime, but my 10K is what I have my eyes on.

They just changed the ING times. They now have me as 2:30:01 - a second over my goal. I can't believe how upset I am right now. :headache:

I wanted to say CONGRATS to eveyone who did a race this weekend. I think the temps at the Atlanta ING were cold (remember this morning for me was 76)
You all were in my head as I did my 6miler today. (I too think of WISH people cheering for me- even though I have no idea what you all look like!!)

Can't wait for the Minnie!!
