:jumping1: GO! WISH Team GO! :jumping1:

No Sunday races? Blasphemy! I'm doing the Colonial Beach Triathlon, my 4th triathlon weekend in a row that has consisted of distances of 70.3, Olympic, Olympic, Olympic. :crazy2: Taking a few weeks off after these... What can I say, tons of things to do in our new area!

I'm doing 2 4 mile races this weekend.

On Saturday evening I'm running the Shot in the Dark and then on Sunday morning I'm running a new race we have downtown, the FANtastic 4-Miler. That second one starts just outside of Progressive field (where the Indians play), runs to Cleveland Browns stadium and onto the field, runs back to Quicken Loans Arena (Where the Cavs play) on onto to court, and then finishes on the warning track of Progressive Field.

My times have been really effected by the heat lately but I'm hoping for two good races.

Good luck to anyone else racing, and that is quite the accomplishment Matt. You will deserve the time off.

Very new to this section of the forums, but I am taking part in the Dash for Donation 5k here in Columbus tomorrow (sat). It is to bring attention and funding for organ and tissue donation. Last year after starting an exercise program, but not really a running program this I was around 33 minutes.. This year I havent been exercising as much so have a feeling that my time wont be there, BUT, this is the kickoff for me starting to train for doing either a 1/2 this fall or for sure I want to do the WDW marathon in 2014 :)

Hey! I'm running the Dash 4 Donation tomorrow in Columbus too! I'm a transplant nurse at OSU so it's very cool to see some of our old patients at the event every year! Good luck!!

Awesome my boss / friend is a 7 year liver recipient (as of 2 days ago)

Was a bit disappointed in my times, but I just started running again. So shouldnt be disappointed :) Appears I should have cut the corners lol since it shows 3.28 miles. Anyway was a LOT of fun!! Almost 4000 walkers and runners out in support of organ donation!!!

That was a great time!!! :cool1: Especially since you are just getting back into it!

I don't know what gave me more chills, all the people who's lives have been touched by organ donation, or the cool and perfect weather! :thumbsup2 What a great race! The course was much better this year than last, running by the river front always gives good scenery. I ran 3.2mi (from endomondo on my iphone, glad someone else got a little more distance too and my ap isn't broken ;) ) 28:57 Lots of photogs out, can't wait to see the action shots...or the official chip times.

And was super cool to see the race leaders going back up high street.. was fun to be able to support and cheer them on while running the other way!! :cheer2::cool1:

As far as the bolded part above.. I've always been a pretty emotional guy.... Just walking around and seeing all the people was great. and humbling at the same time.. When you would walk past a pretty large group and see the tears...:grouphug: man it's even hard to type without getting choked up.. knowing that they lost someone they cared for very, very much, but thanks to the miracle of organ donation, they also know their loss, as tragic as they are, actually SAVED SOMEONES LIFE!!!

And they weather was pretty awesome too!!!! Plus, FINALLY a bit of rain!!!

added----- and yes, was a bit more then 5k/3.1m :) my boss got 3.42 lol.. not sure if he got lost or what.

another add lol --- was hoping for around 12min miles, was doing 2run 1 walk, mostly and was 11:46 so am super glad to see how that worked out!!!!

Great job with your races everyone!

DH and I registered last minute for an event called "The Meltdown" in Shelbyville, IN, which we ran Saturday the 14th. It was a very interesting event: 3 5Ks on the hour at 8, 9, and 10! My plan was to go all out on the first race and try to pr, then just do my best for the next 2. However, I should say that we haven't been running a ton lately, just 20-25 miles/week, whereas my last 5K was run at a time we were training for a 1/2 and running at least 35 miles/week so I wasn't sure how my time would be. It wasn't super hot Saturday morning, but when the humidity was 90% when I looked at my weather channel app...ouch!! Anyway, on to the report.

Race 1: I felt pretty good when we started and hit mile 2 at 14:30 so was on pace for about a 30-45 sec pr, but then I just died on mile 3. My legs still felt great but I just couldn't breathe...the air was so heavy. Anyway, finished in 23:25 so 26 sec slower than my last 5K, but did manage a 2nd in my age group.

Race 2: I decided to just take it a little easy and just run this one. Legs still felt good and this race I actually felt really good the whole time, probably because I was taking it easy (I probably should have pushed harder this race!). Finished this one in 25:25 (I think) so WAY slower, which moved me down to 4th or 5th in my age group :(

Race 3: Legs started to feel pretty dead here and I had to push myself to keep going. I ran part of this one with a 60 something year-old gentleman with a Run Disney tatoo on his back (Mickey running) and we talked briefly about the marathon, which was cool....then he ran off and left me :rotfl: (Although I had beaten him on the previous two, he apparently had more left in the tank than I did!). Anyway, finished this one in 25:56, good enough for 3rd in age group.

Overall, it was a fun experience and we will definitely run it again next year. I didn't do badly, but definitely proved to myself I need to up my mileage and get back into training seriously!

Great job on back to back to back 5k's :)

Guess calling it "the meltdown" sounded about right for the weather...

Thank you! And yes, it was definitely named appropriately! We were just lucky it was overcast because sun would have made it that much worse!
