In late October I posted on the General Discussion Thread about how I had a stress fracture in each foot (long story) and was seeking advice as I was registered for the Goofy.

Well, I did it! With a lot of cross training and a very compressed training schedule to build up my running legs and mileage, I actually finished the Goofy with not too shabby results - 2:02:12 for the half and 4:21:43 for the full.

Neither times are PR's, but they are beyond what I had hoped to do and I consider them a celebration of my recovery.

Great job Cami! I was in awe of the goofy participants nd hope to become one next year.
Happy running! Pam

No pictures. I have an ancient cell phone with a terrible camera and my digital is too big to run with. So, I just enjoy the scenery and make mental memories.

This is so awesome to read. I injured my cuboid in my foot a week and a half ago, and have an appt with a sports med chiro (tink is in 17 days!) tomorrow. I'm nervous about my ability, but I'm so uplifted by your experience!

Well done! I'm so proud and excited for you!:worship::cheer2:

Ouch! I'm so sorry about your foot. Did you just bruise it or something? My stress fractures, if not totally healed were well on there way, or I would not have run. The pain would have been too much. I hope you get a good report at your appointment.

I think the key is to see a sports med professional. Their job is to keep you going if at all possible. Even if the do have to shut down your running for a while (as in my case), they should be able to offer alternative training techniques. I know a big key to my success was all the cross training I did - swimming, Nordic Track, strength training. I remember one Saturday I turned on a college football game and did the Nordic Track while watching for 3 hours! Because of all that work, when I started running again I didn't really need to build up my endurance just get my running legs back.

Keep in mind all the training you've already done. You're probably pretty well prepared. And if you haven't fractured your foot, I'd put my money on you running the race.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Congrats on those awesome times! I was planning on doing the full next year and Goofy in 2014, but after last weekend and seeing all the Goofies, I may have to make a run at it in 2013!

Congrats! That is definitely something to be proud of! Running the half is awesome, but doing both is amazing! Way to go!

Thanks for the thoughtful response Cami! The chiro is a sports medicine specialist (thank goodness), and is pretty sure I'm not fractured (phew!), but aggravated my pelvis from running only on one side of the road. :sad2: You know, the slope. Nice. I will know more after my appointment in a couple of hours. She is no-nonsense, so if I can't run, I won't, but man, I hope I can!

GREAT idea about the NordicTrack! How incredible to have gone 3 hours. One thing about running, is you learn to zone out, eh?

I'm so proud of you!
