Race for the Cure Course Map

In 2005, it started in the AK parking lot, and went thru AK. I remember walking past Expedition Everest as it was being built, which was cool. The rest of it seemed pretty lame to me- I remember a lot of access type roads where you saw the back side of buildings. So, the building would be marked "elephants" or something, but you wouldn't have a clue if you hadn't seen the sign. I do remember laughing at some monkeys along the way. It was crazy crowded too.

Actually, my memories probably aren't fair at all. I was pregnant and felt bad, DH went but didn't want to, and DD was 5 and started whimpering/crying after about a mile. Oh, and they ran out of medals. Still, I was very impressed with the participants and felt good about doing the race.

OH, and we tried to take a cab from the Swan since the buses weren't running that early, and the driver refused to take us saying there wasn't anything going on at AK that early! We ended up in our own car...

That was a ridiculously long answer. Sorry.:rolleyes1

Funny flashback- they have these cards you can write on and put on your back honoring people. My DH's mom just had breast cancer (and is fine!), so I put her name on DD's back. DH then grabs a pen and writes "mom" on DD's card. I spent the whole race hoping no one thought I was the "mom" who was a survivor- I had lots of guilt. I told DH, but he was zoning out- finally the next day, he was like "D'Oh!"

I know that in 2006 and 2005 it was held at Animal Kingdom. In 2004 it was in MGM. Before that I don't know but think Epcot may have had it in 2003.
