RAC lost luggage

I'm wondering what happens to the luggage when RAC actually gets it to the airport. Is it all left off in one central spot, dropped off at each and every airlines cargo center?? I can see in my minds eye the luggage dropped off and left to sit somewhere unattended and then perhaps forgotten---

That's not going to happen.

Resort Airline Check-in, operated by BAGS, is a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved remote skycap service. The TSA would not look kindly on "unattended and then perhaps forgotten" bags.

Well--mine sure were forgotten. They were still in Orlando when we arrived in Baltimore!! And this isn't unattended bags in the terminal--these are unattended piles of luggage in the cargo area.
And by unattended I meant perhaps dropped off at the correct airline, but just left sitting??
It seems such a simple thing to put correct luggage on a correct flight. But with the huge # of bags misplaced each year, maybe I'm missing something????
And does anybody know exactly what RAC does with the luggage once it hits the airport??

It's interesting that the Plus website no longer mentions Disney, even though the RAC and valet services that Plus provides to Disney are significant business for Plus. Disney is just very protective of its brand. Disney wants to prevent or control any perception of public endorsement of other company's goods and services by Disney.

Interesting Shades of Green is listed as a partner, maybe for guest parking. I wonder if there would be interest in RAC as a guest paid service in non-Disney run resorts.

Also interesting SW isn't listed as a partner. I guess BAGS only (currently) offers RAC for SW passengers staying at WDW resorts.

Google suggests Disney was listed as a partner on the website as recently as 5/15.

All checked luggage gets screened. My understanding is RAC luggage is dropped off in a remote location at MCO to be screened. That removes some of the space constraints in the main terminal.

If the bags were tagged through to the destination airport, I'm sure there must be some kind of claims ticket. Either stuck (sticker) to the back of the boarding pass, or inside the folder holding the boarding passes, or as duds mentioned stapled to the folder. After Delta lost our luggage once, I hold onto those claim tickets until I have my bags back in hand. In all honestly, I really didn't worry too much about it before, and probably tossed them before I had a need for them.

Considering one of the bags flew Delta instead of Continental, and went to the wrong airport, I wonder if the bags were tagged with someone else's tags. (This is exactly what happened to our bags--they went to Savannah as they were supposed to according to the tags--but we went to Orlando.) In this case having your contact information on the bag is essential.

Our luggage is red, and with a black Sharpie, I wrote my name, address, home and cell phone numbers right on the fabric. That way, I don't have to worry about tags falling off.

PLEASE tell me that you meant that you wrote it on the LINING of the bag?!

Writing your address on the outside of multiple bags (or on the luggage tags) is a really wonderful way to invite someone to break into your home.
There are unscrupulous folks everywhere, and if you have multiple bags in a set the odds are that everyone in that house is going to be gone for several days.

Best advice, ALWAYS, is to use your business address on any baggage ID, and be sure to put it on the inside of the bag as well as the outside.
